Last night I was invited out by a friend for her birthday get together at Rockhead. I had never been to this pub before, so I was excited to try something new. Upon arrival, the street parking was all taken up, so I went behind the building, to park in the municipal parking lot, which wasn't really paved well, lots of pot holes and it was dark. Luckily, parking is free after 6pm, and I walked through the alley way to the front of the building to the entrance.
Upon entering, their were many signs indicating that their debit/credit machine was out of order, and they could only take cash, but indicated where their ATM was, after taking out my money and being charged a $3 fee, I had realized there was a TD Bank, my financial institution, across the street.
Everyone was arriving sporadically, so when I had arrived, my friend and some of her friends were there. The waitress came up and asked for my drink order, they only had one type of Cider, Somersby, which was fine. There was a group of us, and there was hardly anyone in this bar, we had ordered our meals, which took a while to come out, myself and another person ordered a Caesar salad, which were the second to last items to come out. The salad was okay, the croutons were soft and fried rather than hard and baked. The dressing itself came on the side instead of mixed in, it wasn't really that good.
Other than the company, the food was mediocre, the washrooms we're really well kept, and the whole pub seems a bit run down, and more like a dive. Not sure if I will come back, but if I do, it's because I was invited, not because I wanted to go on my own; hopefully their debit/credit machine is working next time. read more
