I've been attending UBC (Ultimate Body Cut Kickboxing) class at Rockford Academy for over two years now and it has changed me from the inside out! This is unlike anything else I had ever experienced prior to this class. you never leave a workout feeling like you didn't get what you signed up for. The combination of cardio, strength training, and self defense, leaves you feeling refreshed and will provide you the discipline it will take to come back to class! My son started with Rockford Academy through the Rochelle Park Dist. about 2 years ago. I have to admit to a certain amount of hesitation on my part at first but quickly learned it was simply my lack of knowledge of the discipline and the academy. This hesitation is completely gone. As the expression goes "...like a fish to water..." my son dove in and has loved it from the very first day. Every night he is at home practicing his forms. I've watched my son grow from quiet and shy to confident, strong and very respectful and disciplined. Our experiences with M. An and his instructors has been nothing but exceptional. They've all been very patient and educational. We went to our first competition a few months ago and we knew nothing, but the instructors (including M. An) quickly reassured us and guided us and the competition turn out to be a very good experience for my son and our family. In the past 2 years I've seen the interest in Tae Kwon Do in Rochelle grow dramatically from what it was when my son started so besides my own experiences I know they are doing it right. M. An and his instructors remind us and our children that we are investing in them and their future and I know this investment will pay off. In fact my wife is going to start this coming weekend. Every single day, I am grateful to the several friends that recommended Master An's Rockford Academy of Tae Kwon Do to us. I have a very spirited and rambunctious little girl who started taking classes at the Academy while still in preschool, and in 6 months it is amazing to see how much her self-confidence, athleticism, and self-discipline has grown. She told me a few weeks ago that she could go downstairs all by herself now because she wasn't afraid, she was a little ninja and monsters couldn't get her. It doesn't get any better than that! Before Tae Kwon Do, she would tire so easily riding bikes or walking around the block, and now she is so athletic and full of perseverance. Also, Master An greatly encourages respect and school-wide discipline, and he requires all of the little ninjas to write down in a journal their daily "good deed." We brought our daughter to Rockford Academy as a birthday present from her Grandmother for her 8th birthday. She was pretty shy and did not like being in front of people, but after only a couple of classes, she decided that she really liked Tae Kwon Do and wanted to continue on. 4 years later, we're still here and she is now a 2nd degree blackbelt. The instructors are very helpful and have truly brought her to this point. Not only that, they are always willing to answer any questions we may have. This has been an great experience for her. The increase in her physical fitness and confidence level has been amazing. Now she actually volunteers to get up and read in front of the congregation at church. Rockford Academy not only teaches the physical part of Tae Kwon Do, they also teach respect, discipline and mental strength. We started going to Rockford Academy when my son was 3 years old, he is now 5 and absolutely loves it! He has learned so much, more then just martial arts but life skills. Master Ahn is wonderful with children, all of the staff are. They treat you as family. His door is always open, he takes the time to listen and to help guide and support your child though normal growing up experiences. They also have activities through out the year which the kids love, such as holiday parties, summer parties, laser tag. The older children support and help the younger ones to learn and obtain their goals, something which Master Ahn instills in his students; to always help, to support and praise others for their goal and to help others strive to meet the students goals. I've been going to Taekwondo classes for about 10 weeks, and I already love it. I joined having known next to nothing about the sport, but everyone there helped me understand what to do. That's the great thing about Rockford Academy- they help train everyone that is willing to work hard. "A black belt is just a white belt who never give up." Every class I'm wondering what we are going to do, and what I will learn. I learn the best attack and defense moves! I have always had a bunch of energy and competitive nature, and Rockford Academy lets me channel it in a healthy way. I strongly recommend Rockford Academy, my son started when he was 3 and is now 6 at his black belt level. He feels the academy is a second home. Master Ahn instills respect for others, caring for themselves and life skills as well as ta kwon do. Self defense is taught, how to deal with bullies not by violence, confidence building, forming and maintaining friendships. We found Rockford Academy to help our kindergartener focus at school. We knew that Tae Kwon Do would reinforce the values that we teach at home and also be a great way for exercize for our two sons. Soon after the boys started the Little Ninjas class, my husband and I also joined the Rockford Academy. He also does TKD and I took UBC classes. Rockford Academy practices traditional Tae Kwon Do. My experience has been phenomenal. My grandson started at 3 years old in the Little Ninjas program and has progressed to become a deputy 4th degree Black Belt at age 10. He is now 12.
