This place was absolutely great! We came over from London, was out with my in-laws, and wasn't sure what to expect. We had a lovely evening, the food was great, service was top notch, the waitress was ruddy lovely, and the whole thing with the day's catches being written on the table... oh my goodness, loved it! 10 out of 5 !!! 23/8/16 First off.....The best chips I have ever had..... I'm 62.... I couldn't take up the option of more chips. I was stuffed... The extras to the menu were explained. I'd say a bit pricey, but the food was good. We had the following: Bottle of Pinot Grigio - £22.00 Apple juice - £2.75 Bottle of coke - £2.50 --- We had two starters which we shared... Calamari - £8.50 Seafood salad - £7.95 ------ Mains: Prime Code Fillet with chips - £11.95 Haddock with chips - £11.95 (too much for my son) Frito Misto with chips - £18.80 Frito Misto with salad - £18.80 (wife said she had already had chips today, and wasn't having anymore.....So she stole ours....) I thought the Frito Misto was slightly overpriced, but I enjoyed what I had.... Myself and my new wife chose here to eat whilst on our 'Mini-Moon' in Torquay. We had noticed that Torquay had really improved the quality of food and dining places over the years and this seemed to be fitting in with that trend. Whilst it also operates as a Take-Away its main purpose is a sit down restaurant decorated as a Fishermans shack it felt very homely. Their motto is 'Tomorrows finish is still in the sea' which we both loved and had a lot to do with us choosing here. Drinks wise they have a good selection, its lovely to see places down in Torquay getting beers in that are a little different to the standard ones, such as Brooklyn Lager and Brew Dog. We ordered a crab roll and the scampi and my first gripe with the place is that it isn't cheap and personally I don't think the food lives up to the prices that they charge. it was £16 for scampi and chips and it was just shy of £10 for a crab roll and chips. It comes out in a metal dish and a layer of fish and chip shop paper. I do get that this is the approach they are going for but at the price they are charging I felt a little stung. The food was good, nothing i would classify as outstanding which is a shame being a fish restaurant in this neck of the woods. I would certainly say it was a better quality than most as it wasn't greasy in the slightest and the batter on the scampi was very light indeed. My second gripe and the reason for the 3 stars was the fact that I didn't think there was enough choice on the menu. When you go into any fish and chip shop this close to the sea there is always tonnes on offer and here it was really limited. i liked Rockfish, I just think its trying to be a bit more than it is at the moment. I would go back and I would eat there again but I do think its a little pricey for what it is. read more

We visited this restaurant close to Torquay harbour on the last day of our recent minimoon to Devon wanting to experience some high quality seafood and making the most of our seaside location. The decor within the restaurant is pleasant and homely with a lively bustling atmosphere to accompany it. Depsite not booking on what was clearly a busy night we were allocated a table quickly and left to peruse the menu. The menu itself was quite limited in choice and for saying the premises also operate as an albeit high end takeaway was also on the pricey side for the type of food being served. We started with cockles and south coast calamari the latter of which were nicely crisp. For main my husband had the scampi, cooked well but a pinch moneywise at just under £17. I had one intention for my meal and that was to have some fresh Torquay crab so opted for the crab roll and chips. Again great standard but the pricing was still a bit high at £10 for what I would feel comfortable paying. Service wise we started well but something went wrong somewhere as we seemed to say or do something that changed our hostess from cheerful and welcoming to abrupt and scowling. This was a shame and really tainted our visit to Rockfish, maybe our expectation was too high based on the prices we viewed from outside the restaurant but I entered looking forward to a special meal, our first as a married couple and left feeling sligtly deflated as a result of both food that was in my opinion overpriced and bemused as to what we had done wrong to upset our server as much as we obviously did! read more

Nordic Coast cod. Cod and haddock, good selection of bottled beers. Tasty fish. Chips, warm bread roll- selection of salts and vinegar.

Food was good and service was great. They advertise free wifi that is very slow which also causes their card payment system to be buggy and slow as well. Overall, great seafood and attentive service read more
