My daughter got sick twice on the weekend before camp started, they were so accommodating, easy to get in touch with. The camps were very well run. Her leaders were great. She had a blast. And was all reasonably priced. We will definitely be doing more with jack of sports

The Pros: -The Director has really stepped back in overall Management and mellowed out a bit since I've known him to the benefit of the company. -The Recruitment Bonus program is great to bring your friends on. They don't need to be qualified & you get monetary compensation. -They provide the best outcome for kids, simply because their grading standards require more to pass. Creating stronger swimmers than the City and most other programs I've experienced. The Cons: -Jack of Sports is the least educated "Swim School" I've seen in the sense of most of the staff are not certified to teach swimming lessons nor have much if any first aid training. Management more commonly obtain even fewer qualifications in the courses that they oversee causing a noticeable disconnect. -I vehemently suggest to parents to check if your child's lifeguard is certified, Jack of Sports' Upper Management does not do an appropriate job of keeping track of staff certifications. They are unaware when or if staff are expired or need to renew. I have personally worked shifts here, with no certified Lifeguard on deck. -Management Organization needs improvement, this deeply ties into having too many uncertified and untrained Managers in the field they are overseeing. Their approach to bringing on new staff with little training themselves leads to poor hires. This extends into the classroom space where poor teaching styles lead to multiple required make up classes for students who fail. It was also reported to me that a JoS lifeguard used a Lysol wipe to clean a kids wound. It wouldn't be documented though, as I have not seen this company use an Incident report once. I hope the child is okay. -They often attempt to remove or cover up negative reviews about them from platforms like Google. When with them, I encouraged them to change the opinion of the reviews by showing quality service. Finding Google New Articles about their conduct is especially troubling. In my opinion, Jack of Sports could be the next "Toronto Lifeguarding"

She is kind, patient and great with kids! She cares about their development and ensured that they were learning good swimming techniques. Joanne had them swimming the entire session and I cannot get over how much my girls swimming skills developed after only a few sessions with Joanne. This was the best money I spent this summer and can't wait to rebook again for next summer!

We've found that hosting lessons in our clients' pools provides an added bonus – swimmers feel more comfortable in a familiar setting, often leading to better engagement and willingness to learn. We believe in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels comfortable and motivated to excel. Above all, safety comes first. As such, our Team plays a crucial role in not only teaching swimming techniques but also instilling water safety skills in our swimmers. All their instructors are very knowledgeable, and actually know how to teach every type of person. Whether it be language barriers, varying age groups, or even different learning speeds. Now, onto my most important point, during my course with them, I noticed how incredibly diverse and inclusive their roster of employees, instructors, and students were. I loved seeing that everyone in my class could look to their right or left, and see someone that looked like them, teaching or conducting an exam or even running a company. If you are considering a place to take your first aid or lifesaving courses with, look no further. Ps* I was recently on their website (because they're the only place open again after the COVID 19 quarantine), and they have already laid down a thorough protection plan. I've provided a link so you it's easier to check it out if you're considering going here. https://www.lifeguardingacademy.com/about/lifeguarding-academy-covid-19-safety-protocols Thanks again for the awesome recert!

Since it was a birthday party, I don't know what it costs to rent out all of the ice (or the sheets, as they call it), but if drinking and throwing stones down ice sounds like your kind of thing, I'm certain it's worth it. The bar was a bit pricier than I was anticipating. I was picturing more like a legion-style situation, with twoonie beers and no mix, but they actually have a proper wooden bar that takes debit and serves up $20 pitchers. Not as fun as what I was picturing, but fair enough, it is in beautiful High Park after all. Sweep!

My curling debut was pretty memorable, as I caught on relatively quickly to how the game works. The staff here gives an exhaustive explanation of the rules and makes it easy for novices to pick up the game. Great game, better company, made for a pretty amazing three hours on a Friday afternoon. We had unfettered access to the entire rink, which made for an exclusive experience. Solid beer selection behind the bar certainly doesn't hurt. Can't wait until next year's Malanka Curling Cup in January!
