Horrible experience. My hairstylist was 30min late to our appointment. Then I had to wait another 30min for her to figure out how to renew her license on her phone because the inspector was in the building. We had no discussion about cost or any kind of consult. She began working on my hair and told me we'd be done in a couple of hours. Well, she ran over her time by 1.5 hours and my husband and I missed our appointment that we had planned afterwards. He showed up and waited patiently because she said we'd be done soon. SMH! Because she ran over her estimated time, she began to rush through my treatment. She decided not to wash my treatment out which was fine until I got home and all I smelled throughout the night was horrible chemicals. I wanted to vomit because the smell was so strong and awful. And when it was time to pay. The fee I was expecting to pay was from what I saw listed on her website. What I was being charged was an extra $60 in addition to what was listed. She claimed I had a lot of hair and needed more product; I've had this treatment performed several times before at other salons and they never charge me extra. At the beginning of the appointment she said the special shampoo and conditioner I was being sent home with was included in the price, so I thought oh that's great. But afterwards she said the price increase was because of the special products she had to send me with. There was no fine print on her website that broke down any possible price increases, and the details listed said the shampoo and conditioner were included in the cost, so why am I having to pay extra for them? Why didn't she have a proper consult at the beginning of the hair appt? Is it because you were 1 hour late to begin? Plus having to hear gossip and poking fun about the other stylists in the salon was rude and uncomfortable. So incredibly unprofessional. Never again. read more

Brandi had been my stylist for many years, and was I thrilled when she told me she was opening her own salon. Her skill with scissors and coloring brush is amazing. She is very knowledgeable with color, and knows what will and won't look good on your head. She's given my limp, straight hair volume and life. I've also had several appointments with Kendra and she is wonderful as well. She knows what you're wanting from a hair cut and style even if you don't. I've given her free rein with my hair and am never disappointed. I will gladly commute from North Raleigh every 6-8 weeks to Clayton just for these two women. read more

I brought my 8 year old daughter here to have her hair fixed after it was butchered at great clips. Kendra did such a beautiful job! My daughters hair looks fantastic! We get compliments on how cute she looks every where we go. Kendra was very knowledgeable and a great person all around. I can't wait to go back to get my own hair cut! read more

I enjoy going to RocKandie for my hair needs. Kendra is an immensely talented stylist, being more than willing and able to cut and color your hair with fantastic results. I made a huge jump to short hair, putting my trust in Kendra. It has paid off because she is amazing! I love, love, love my cut and color. I don't know that I'll grow it out because Kendra rocks it out every single time! The other stylists are all friendly, professional people. They will do what they can to make sure you have a great experience, even letting you know if your stylist is running behind on an earlier appointment. The decor is different from big name salons and their pseudo-modern generic designs. It is really easy to see how fun and eclectic the salon is from their Facebook page. So, if you aren't expecting that and cannot deal with it not being generic, don't go. You'll miss out on great people, though! I was in the salon on the same time and day as the negative reviewer (from 1/28/15). I don't remember the staff being asked why the appointment was running behind. Unfortunately, I do remember the person leaving in a huff before even being seen. In the year I've been going to RocKandie, I've seen Brandi be nothing but courteous and caring with her customers. I regret writing this review but I feel it is over do. I went to see Brandie on April 13, 2019 (after a last minute cancellation on her side for April 5th). I LOVED my appointment and the results. My color came out amazing! Brandie was great in person and I thought I had found my hair dresser for life. Unfortunately since then my experience has just gone down hill... On the April 13th I paid for some shampoo and conditioner, even though Brandie told me she was out. My best friend was coming to her shortly after and was going to pick up my products. She cancelled and rescheduled on my best friend several times and when my friend went (on May 1st), she still didn't have my product. I know she had some personal things to attend to and I was understanding about it. She and I have texted back and forth since May 7th about my products. She had offered to drop it off for me, she then offered to ship it to me, then she offered me larger ones to rectify the wait and finally she offered me half off my next visit AND my products. I waited because I was trying to be patient and understanding but now it is June 30th and I still do not have my product nor have I gotten a text back since June 4th when I agreed to the half off and products and asked when could she fit me in. I am mystified as to why this place has great reviews. I suppose if you're into zombie paraphernalia, unnatural hair colors and skulls this might be your place. I can't say if this place gives a good haircut because I didn't make it that far. We just moved to Clayton and so I was in search of a new stylist. I made the first available appt. with Brandie, which was almost three weeks out. So I waited and showed up for my appointment. My first thought as I walked in was, "They must be getting ready for Halloween..." and then I realized it was January and that was just the normal décor. It looked like Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas in there! So bizarre! I've never seen a hair salon that looked like that. I sat down and waited for my appointment. Brandie seemed to be working on finishing up someone else's hair. Then I noticed a large black cat walking toward me. I must have had a confused look on my face because someone who worked there said "That's our salon cat. He's friendly. You aren't allergic, are you? He really likes the people who are allergic." I said that was in fact highly allergic. Then Brandie offered to give me one of her Allegra pills! Nobody made any effort to move the cat or put it in the back or anything. As I'm sitting there, getting slightly itchy, I started wondering if I should just leave, which is what I did after over 15 minutes of waiting. Nobody said anything to me about how much longer I would have to wait. The two ladies working the front desk were chit chatting a customer, Brandie, etc. I'd give this place a 0 for professionalism. Why in the world would you keep a cat in a hair salon? Lots of people are allergic. The whole experience was bizarre and I would definitely not go back. Again, this might be the place for you if you're into goth culture, unnatural hair, and Halloween year round. Definitely not for me. read more
