What a sensational meal four of us had at Rock Salt recently! Sure, it does not have the beach or river views offered by other restaurant venues in Noosa, but it more than made up for it with an exciting menu and attentive, and very competent staff. We also asked for a table outside on the small back 'garden terrace' and enjoyed cooling evening breezes.
Rock Salt is both BYO and Licensed. We had brought our own wine but the wine list on offer is also very good.
We were lost for choice with the Menu but my husband finally settled on Moreton Bay Bug Ravioli with confit garlic, chervil lemon butter and asparagus (sadly no photographs as by the time I took photos of the first two entrees on my side of the table, the men had well and truly demolished both the Ravioli and ditto also the Sesame and garlic fried prawns! However, I did manage to photograph the fried Duck wontons with dipping sauce and my Sticky Hoi Sin lamb ribs with roasted coconut and mint and watermelon salad ! There was almost silence as we ate! We were all impressed by the size of the entrees and their 'deliciousness'! My ribs were crispy dry...not oily at all and very very more-ish. Even after giving two ribs to my husband for him to try, I wondered how I would fit in the main course still to come.
Next up for me and Sue came the Market fresh Fish of the Day which was Barramundi served with a lemon chive butter ,shredded snow peas and chervil. Interestingly both our men chose Chef Stuart's Signature dish of Crispy Roasted Duck with orange and thyme jus, garlic spinach and crispy onion rings. The servings again were very generous. We also shared an almost bottomless serve of Crisp hot chips with Rosemary sprigs and aioli. Again, we were all singing praises to the Chef. What a great meal!
I was also delighted on another note...I have reviewed a number of Noosa restaurants on this holiday and been astounded at how much they over use coriander ,to which I am allergic ,and which many people dislike .However there was not a sprig of Coriander on the entire menu. Bravo!!!
