They don't have a lot of items that is my size unfortunately (petite small). The store itself is clean, organized, and easy to browse, which made the whole experience enjoyable. I don't know which "4th Wave Feminist" in W-S I spoke to but I will never be shopping at your…read morestore/chain again. I used to shop W-S reasonably frequently, decades ago. Apparently I'm no longer sensitive or woke enough (or apologetic enough as an old white man) to satisfy your "20-year" kayak clerk. I called about a "Seals 1.7" neoprene skirt, 2XL neoprene tunnel. The BROAD you have working asked me the "cockpit size". I said to her, somewhat sarcastically: "It's the MODEL." I was firm but not rude. Everyone, at local stores, online simply cares what model skirt. I had spoken to Get Outdoors, REI, and Great Outdoors in Greensboro. Each clerk knew the skirt by MODEL. I had previously been instructing people about the particular boat. None of them seemed interested. Apparently it's a one-size-fits-all skirt. That's what it's ordered by. Your feminist clerk (and PLEASE, let's not elevate the "split tail" to "sales associate") did not ask me the model of the kayak. And NOBODY else was this sensitive. So... I will order online from here on, and will never use either Great Outdoors close to my house. THERE! Your woke, sensitive CLERK can "rest easily."

Ninety minutes before I had to check for my flight, I visited the Park Road store with my empty roller bag. The store had good selections and Caroline, my favorite staffer, stepped up to work her magic . After an intensive hour of sorting options, I had a stellar collection of nicely fitting gear from head to toe. Our selections worked great for my winter trip and I'm still enjoying my gear. Heartfelt kudos to Caroline and the entire team at Great Outdoor Provisions. I can't imagine any other place in Charlotte where pro staff would gear me up with humor and brisk purpose. Thanks for making my crazy shopping surge, fast, fun, friendly and laser focused. With warm appreciation, Lee

I love British outerwear and can't get enough of especially Barbour clothes. This place has, in a small area, probably the best selection of Barbour outerwear of anyplace I've ever been (including outdoor shops in England). They have a complete stock of clothes and accessories for outdoor lovers of every kind. The folks there couldn't be more friendly and welcoming, and are super-low pressure. Apparently they also arrange for outdoor trips of various kinds, but I didn't ask them about it this time.

Checking in was easy - and quickly brought to our launch site. Easy access via ramp or steps - in the water and off we went. Easy to dry off some, hop in the car up the small hill to the shop where you can easily change into dry clothes for your trek home.)

The store had a few necessities, good for what you need from them. The river itself was great for floating. The water level was up, no getting stuck on rocks on our day. Cons: The manager looking guy was a little grumpy looking and not approachable in the store. I actually thought about 3 stars because this was so noticeable, but the others working there don't deserve that. It would have been great to have a few picnic tables or a changing area down at the river. Just a little shack with half doors like a dressing room would be great. We had that in Bryson City after a trip down the river there, and it was wonderful to not have to get in the car while still wet. Everyone was making makeshift beach towel dressing rooms for their friends at this spot.
