I remember when this shop first opened I would have given them five stars. However, the integrity and reliability of their work and ethics has deteriorated lately to the point where I will take my bikes to Laramie for any work/repairs. My last tune up on my mountain bike was returned to me without the crank being reassembled correctly. Considering I had paid for the Pro Tune I was taken aback to note such an integral part had been overlooked. To their credit, they did fix it free. Another bike I own was brought in after years of sitting. I asked them to make it rideable-nothing fancy just rideable. The headset desperately needed work though. They said it was missing parts and they couldn't fix it. It tuned out to be missing a tapered washer. How a bike shop doesn't have that part blows me away. The day I went to pick it up, the bars were so stiff they barely turned and the mechanic said that's as good as they'll ever be from now on. When I expressed concern over them seizing while riding he looked at them again and agreed this time that they were actually unsafe and said he would keep the bike longer. After three weeks I got the bike back with an unnatural gap between the steerer tube and headset but was told again that was as good as it gets. They charged me just under $300 for all this. Had I known ahead of time it would cost so much, I would have just left it alone. My riding buddies all have similar stories of over-charging and/or shoddy work. I will say this though, there is a mechanic there named Zach who is helpful, knowledgeable and trustworthy. When I've dealt directly with him I've been satisfied. However, the owner seems to have forgotten about the customer part of business and are primarily concerned with getting all the dollars they can out of you. Save yourself the headache and some cash at go to Pedal House in Laramie or Brave New Wheel or Lees Cyclery in Fort Collins.
I can't attest to their winter sport qualities though and my review is obviously related to strictly using them as maintenance. I've not bought a bicycle from them but I'm sure they're outstanding salesman.
UPDATE: after posting the original above review, the shop reached out to me leaving me a message asking how they can make it right and I respect that. I've returned the call asking for the owner but he's been out of the shop. I am impressed that they were concerned about the review. Earlier I also noted the mechanics being "shady" and I regret using that without explanation. I felt slighted that a bike shop didn't have a compression ring for a headset, didn't offer to order that single part and then possibly would have sent me out the door with bars that barely turn. I regret not choosing a better word as they truly do seem to have their hearts in the right places. It's Yelp folks, take the reviews with a grain a salt and use a business at your discretion to form your own opinion of them. I appreciated the effort in the phone call though, plus 2 stars. read more
