Thank you to Paeder and Joan for making our stay in Galway so comfortable. This is my favorite B&B…read moreduring our 10 day stay in Ireland. We arrived just a little early for check in and rang the bell. Paeder answered and brought us inside. He gave us lots of good information - restaurants to try, a map of the city, asked what we were interested in so he could point us in the right direction. There are two floors of guest rooms up a nice staircase. There is no elevator so be sure you can manage your bags. Some rooms have a view of the park across the street. As I had booked an economical room we were in the back overlooking the garden. The view is not a big factor for me when picking a room, but if it is for you, be sure you book the room with a view. It's a very nice view, and some of the rooms have a balcony. We were taken to our room by our host who explained a couple of things then left us to unpack. The bed here is comfortable. Padded headboard is great for reading. The comforter is soft and fluffy. There are two chairs, a kettle, cups and what not, a nice armoire to hang your clothes and a few shelves for socks and such. The hairdryer is in there as well. The bedroom and bathroom heat are on a timer and will turn itself on in the evening and off in the morning. We were always quite comfortable. The bathroom was quite clean. The shower stall has a place for your soap and shampoo, and a two step water system. The outer ring indicates the water pressure, while the inner (1,2,3,etc.) indicates how hot the water is. I found 1 to be hot enough for me. There is a wide shelf under the window for toiletries and a tray of glasses, soaps and other items are provided. Besides the bath and hand towels, they also have wash clothes. Thank you! Breakfast is served during set hours, so if you stay up late, and sleep in, you will probably miss this hearty breakfast. So. Much. Food. We know a 'Full Irish' is too much food so we ordered 'small', but still it was more food than was good for us! Besides the hot options of eggs, ham, etc., there is also a buffet of juices, cold cereals, yogurts and a variety of baked good that changed daily. The brown bread is nice. Get there early to have all the options. A pot of tea for me and a pot of coffee for my SO and toast were brought to the table before our food arrived, while we helped ourselves to juice and baked goods. The hallway is a bit narrow, but this just gives you more space in the room. You may have to let others coming up the hall pass before you can go down. Walking through the halls, you can be heard by other guests, but once in the room, we did not hear other guests unless there was a very loud laugh for example. Otherwise it was quiet. Already a great place to stay, it would have been even better if the weather had cooperated. It's about a 15 minute walk into town down the main road, or a bit longer if you go by the water front. It was too cold, windy and rainy for me to take the waterfront stroll during our visit. It's also very close to the beach and spending a morning walking the beach, so close to the hotel, would have been very convenient. The National Aquarium is here too. In just a few minutes walk, going past the beach, there are a number of pubs and restaurants in Salthill, making it easy to stroll out for dinner and back again. The building has a small glass enclosure outside the front door. This door is always open and you are given a key to the inner door. It was pouring out one night and having this 'ante room' was great to put down the umbrellas and get organized, out of the weather, before going into the building. The room key is an old skeleton key that you have to lock behind you once you enter the room, if you want to be locked in. Guests are a mix from around Europe: Germany, Italy, France and then us Americans. Paeder speaks all the languages. During our stay there were a number of couples, a large family group and a couple of friends traveling together. Looks like they accommodate all sorts of travelers. We checked out after breakfast service was over. Even while we were leaving our hosts were very interested in our plans and helpful, giving us directions to our destination. I would definitely stay here again.

Not sure, but I think we were the only folk in the place on the night we were there - we had a great stay overall, but the breakfast was... lacking. Biggish, but a bit on the lacking side. 2 (decent) sausages, 2 bacon rashers, a fried egg and a microwaved tomato. I reckon they just didn't have enough people around to bother with the food properly, but we could have used a few baked beans and whatnot. Would stay again, but v iffy onthe breakfast.

Yes, B&B's here in Galway are a dime a dozen, but there's a reason why this place literally books out. Why? The free tourist information. The location. The breakfast selection. (I'm talking Full Irish breakfast to cereals to pancakes and porridge) And yes, the people. We stayed in room #6 on the second floor. We arrived much earlier than the 2-3pm check-in time, so Matt took our luggage from us and suggested we go into the city centre to explore. That was exactly what we did. Before we left, he wrote on a card which buses we were to take there and back again, and it was very helpful. Not many places I know would even bother to do that much for you. I loved the skeleton key for our room! I felt like I was so far away; well, Ireland is far from New York, so... Our room was perfect - small and cozy with a private bath. The mini fridge was a huge lifesaver for nights we had sandwiches or had a beer in bed (keeping it classy). The shower had wonderful water pressure, and every night we returned to the room, everything was immaculately clean; so wonderful. Yes, this is a bit outside the city centre, but for an unbeatable price, you won't miss being away from tourists and all the hype. Thank you for being a part of our honeymoon!

Her dinner recommendation was spot-on -- completely delicious. We stayed in Room #6 on the top floor, which had skylights and 4 beds (1 double and 2 singles). It was perfect for the 3 of us. The decore is modern and clean. There are guidebooks to leaf through, tea to enjoy and bottled water in the common space. There is guest off-street parking. Access to Galway City by bus is just steps from the front door -- and although Galway is relatively easy to navigate, I do recommend the 2 euro one-way fare, which takes you right into the middle of the city. Breakfast was either at 8am or 9am and orders are taken the night before. Thank you for the DELICIOUS homemade brown bread. It was the best of any place we had it throughout the whole visit to Ireland. For anyone with mobility concerns, there are stairs to all guest rooms.

What a great B&B! This place is at the end of a cul de sac on a road that is mainly all B&Bs…read more The room that we opted for had 2 single beds, which was perfect for friends traveling and was so well priced. We had a private bathroom, which was lovely. They do provide free body wash and shampoo and towels are included. There is a very large closet for storage as well. You do receive your own key to the front door, as well as the keys to your room. The owner is so friendly and was so awesome with suggestions for food, etc. There is a bus stop just at the end of the road, if you did not travel by car and it's only a short ride to the center of town, which is really the way to go, as parking is quite difficult to find, especially on a Sunday, when the garages close very early. I highly recommend this B&B!

This place was actually the first B&B I've ever stayed at and I was definitely a fan! Stayed here…read moreduring the week while I was doing a placement at the Galway Clinic just up the road. The owners, Liam and Yvonne, were absolutely lovely people, accommodating and friendly. While I was not able to do the tourist thing, many of the other guests were apparently in Galway on holiday and it sounded like Liam and Yvonne were giving excellent advice and tips on where to go and how to get around. The place itself is directly across from a bus stop which is serviced by two buses that come and go from the city centre, every 10 minutes or thereabouts, so very accessible especially if you got to Galway via the coach station like I did! Takes you essentially to their door. The rooms vary a bit in size but are all well-lit and of course en-suite. Breakfast was delicious and they were great for looking after the guests without being intrusive. Water in the showers was hot and of great pressure (essential!!!) and Yvonne was great for tidying up during the day which was an unexpected surprise for me! Anyway bed was comfy, breakfast was great, it was a nice experience and I'd recommend it to my family if they asked so there you are!
