Yes, B&B's here in Galway are a dime a dozen, but there's a reason why this place literally books out. Why? The free tourist information. The location. The breakfast selection. (I'm talking Full Irish breakfast to cereals to pancakes and porridge) And yes, the people. We stayed in room #6 on the second floor. We arrived much earlier than the 2-3pm check-in time, so Matt took our luggage from us and suggested we go into the city centre to explore. That was exactly what we did. Before we left, he wrote on a card which buses we were to take there and back again, and it was very helpful. Not many places I know would even bother to do that much for you. I loved the skeleton key for our room! I felt like I was so far away; well, Ireland is far from New York, so... Our room was perfect - small and cozy with a private bath. The mini fridge was a huge lifesaver for nights we had sandwiches or had a beer in bed (keeping it classy). The shower had wonderful water pressure, and every night we returned to the room, everything was immaculately clean; so wonderful. Yes, this is a bit outside the city centre, but for an unbeatable price, you won't miss being away from tourists and all the hype. Thank you for being a part of our honeymoon!

Her dinner recommendation was spot-on -- completely delicious. We stayed in Room #6 on the top floor, which had skylights and 4 beds (1 double and 2 singles). It was perfect for the 3 of us. The decore is modern and clean. There are guidebooks to leaf through, tea to enjoy and bottled water in the common space. There is guest off-street parking. Access to Galway City by bus is just steps from the front door -- and although Galway is relatively easy to navigate, I do recommend the 2 euro one-way fare, which takes you right into the middle of the city. Breakfast was either at 8am or 9am and orders are taken the night before. Thank you for the DELICIOUS homemade brown bread. It was the best of any place we had it throughout the whole visit to Ireland. For anyone with mobility concerns, there are stairs to all guest rooms.

We had a private bathroom, which was lovely. They do provide free body wash and shampoo and towels are included. There is a very large closet for storage as well. You do receive your own key to the front door, as well as the keys to your room. The owner is so friendly and was so awesome with suggestions for food, etc. There is a bus stop just at the end of the road, if you did not travel by car and it's only a short ride to the center of town, which is really the way to go, as parking is quite difficult to find, especially on a Sunday, when the garages close very early. The owners, Liam and Yvonne, were absolutely lovely people, accommodating and friendly. While I was not able to do the tourist thing, many of the other guests were apparently in Galway on holiday and it sounded like Liam and Yvonne were giving excellent advice and tips on where to go and how to get around. The place itself is directly across from a bus stop which is serviced by two buses that come and go from the city centre, every 10 minutes or thereabouts, so very accessible especially if you got to Galway via the coach station like I did! Takes you essentially to their door. The rooms vary a bit in size but are all well-lit and of course en-suite. Breakfast was delicious and they were great for looking after the guests without being intrusive. Water in the showers was hot and of great pressure (essential!!!) and Yvonne was great for tidying up during the day which was an unexpected surprise for me! Anyway bed was comfy, breakfast was great, it was a nice experience and I'd recommend it to my family if they asked so there you are!

Cheers to Russell and his team at the Kilcullen house in Galway for having one of the nicest city/town B&B's I've stayed in. Russell went out of his way to take a risk on our booking of 2 rooms during race week with no advance deposit (they don't take credit cards here, be warned), which was immediately helpful. It was easy to find, and although they do have offstreet parking, it can get a little snug and you may want to opt for the plentiful ON street parking if you value your paint job too much or don't have super power steering. It's a in a quiet area, about a 5 minute walk from the old city, and the staff does a great job of giving directions/advice as needed. Breakfast was yer standard full Irish, but the coffee was french press and always a plus in my book. Free WiFi was excellent, and the common area downstairs has the cozy feel of my friend's living room (NOT my great aunt's or my college dorm), with coffee and tea available anytime as well as homemade treats. The only drawback was the bathroom. I'm not sure how many people who have no left arm and no left leg there are in the world, but they are the only ones who can sit on the toilet in a "normal" position...it's about .5" away from the wall, and frankly, I ain't that tiny. Otherwise, great place, great team, great value. Bottom Line: er...my bottom wasn't quite in line...

We immediately felt welcome upon our arrival; the smell of chocolate chip cookies met us along with Emer's beautiful smile. Plenty of parking around back for our immensely large touring van, which had us fearing we'd never be able to park. We reserved 2 triple rooms for our family of 6, which were plenty large and comfortable. The kids liked having televisions in both rooms, and they were able to find Disney Channel shows (much to my chagrin!). We were all able to select our choice of breakfast from a tasty, varying menu. The family had serious debate over whose breakfast was best, and the healthy breakfast addition of fresh fruit, granola and breads filled our bellies well into the afternoon. Our hosts provided us with a local map of their favorite restaurants and pubs, and none of their recommendations failed us. We were lucky to enjoy bright and sunny days while in Galway, and we will be sure to rebook at Kilcullen House B&B the next time we visit.

The two best parts of the stay are the breakfast and the shower pressure! The breakfast is delicious and only 10 euro. They have delicious sausage, bacon, eggs, many more hot options and kiwi, blueberries, oranges, orange juice, and of course coffee and tea. I paid about 175 euro per night over the weekend in July. Great price! The location is about half a mile from the city center so it's quite an easy walk to all the shops and bars and restaurants and water. Lovely stay and I highly recommend it.

Trying to be true to the teenage spirit, we did not make a lot of plans before landing in Dublin. After we stayed the first night in Dublin, we headed to Galway, the most fabulous cultural city! We arrived at College Crest, and Helen was the epitome of the Irish "lovely". Our room was spacious and traditionally decorated. The sheets were immaculately clean and pressed, and our bathroom was gleaming. Some reviewers have stated that she needs to update the décor, but then it would take away all the charm expected of a B&B. Each morning our breakfast was enormous and delicious, and the staff was equally charming. Originally, we had planned to stay in a different B&B each night in cities all over Ireland. After meeting Helen, we knew that staying with her would be seamless and one less detail to plan. Thus, we decided to stay at the B&B every night, and with Helen's assistance, we booked day trips to must see sites all over the country. It was a blessing that we didn't have to lug our bags to every destination. The bus station was a 2 minute walk down the hill from the B&B. The shops and nightlife start across the street from there to the water. A car is not needed at all. The people of Galway are the most gracious and friendly I have ever met. The young and the old show up nightly at the local pubs to meet new friends and old and enjoy the simpler pleasures of life. I have never liked wet, cooler temperatures, but I would give up the beach life for an evening with Galwegians in a heartbeat. Planning my next trip with Helen in Galway as soon as possible. I will cherish the memories made with my daughter always.
