Super fun Girl Scout Camp not too far from NYC / Westchester - about an hour, give or take.
The great thing is that the drive up starts to feel more and more like "the country" as you get closer.
It's kind of easy to miss the entrance but once you find it, you be able to park and walk to the various campsites.
Not sure if this qualifies as "glamping"... There are pre-pitched tents with cots as well as cabins and bathroom buildings with showers, toilets and running water at each of the sites.
Apparently there are cabins as well but I haven't seen any kids staying in them (they may be for younger kids, when they're here).
There are also covered cooking areas with sinks and hearths for fire building and outdoor bonfire fire pits already cleared and ringed with large rocks. Having said that, these areas are all open to the elements, save the roofs in the cooking areas and the bathrooms / tents.
Overall a very quiet, peaceful spot in the woods, with tons of trees and a beautiful lake.
This is a pretty great introduction to camping for kids if they've never gone camping before. read more
