Monte came out and met with me. He was very personable. I was looking at Sam The Concrete Man and OKCrete, one of their top competitors in the area. I settled on Sam The Concrete Man because Monte impressed me and did a great job with the estimate, and because the bid came in at a fair price. The crew that did the job was led by Jose. At the end of the day-long project, they realized they had made a mistake regarding the leveling of the concrete. Immediately, on their own and without me even requesting it, they volunteered to tear up the concrete and re-pour it to fix the issue. Sure enough, the next day, they were back at my house tearing up the concrete they had just poured, and then they fixed the issue within one day. It turned out beautifully. They really took care of me, and made a big fan out of me. They lost a lot of money on this job because they had to tear the concrete they had poured out and re-pour it to fix the issue, but they never complained. They took accountability on their own--something many businesses would not have done. They resolved the issue, and treated me exceptionally well through the process. From start to finish, the crew was absolutely exceptional. They clearly explained the entire process, went to great lengths to ensure proper drainage and prep, and even spent time walking through the plan with our building neighbor next door to ensure that everyone was happy. I was told the cleanup could not be completed because of rain, yet the company still came out and mowed the lawn on two separate occasions. Unfortunately, I was not aware that the lawn had been mowed twice, which led to confusion regarding billing. I paid the first invoice, but I did not realize a second invoice had been generated until later. The biggest issue was communication. Updates were either very limited or non-existent, making it difficult to know what services were being performed, when they were being performed, or why scheduled work was being canceled. Clear and timely communication could have prevented much of the confusion and frustration. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company for customers who expect reliable scheduling and consistent communication.

Chris did a good job of explaining what he was doing,…read moreand how he watched my existing cracks to see if they were contracting, or at one point he stopped the injection because the crack was expanding. He let me know of a void under the slab at one place that he was able to fill. And he did a great job of drilling in the grout between tiles so the tiles in the entry didn't chip. Brandon came along behind him and leveled off where the mixture came up through the holes, and dusted away concrete residue. The only reason I gave them 4 stars and not 5 is because they were late due to a meeting at headquarters that ran overtime, and when they hit my mailbox on the way out they didn't come back to tell me. But their work is 5-star.

They did not want to allow me to think about it or discuss it with anyone, but did call some finance company to "help" me get a loan. I am still getting their calls. This is a franchise whose goal is to get your money. After getting engineers' reports and 6 other quotes, I found a reputable company and the work was done at less than half the quote of Groundworks. Save your money and use a local company, and ALWAYS get an engineer's report first.
