We had amazing time! My extended family met for a family Christmas in June and stayed in a few cabins, a couple RVs, and a tent. It's a smaller campground, but that was perfect for us! The cabins are all recently updated, clean, and in very nice condition. The mattresses were comfortable and the air conditioners all did the job! All very affordable. No playground, but plenty of grassy areas for the kids to run around and set up badminton . TVs in all of them with satellite and Rokus to log into your own apps. Ralph was an incredible host, very nice and always willing to bring more toilet paper, towels, etc.He even built a wooden ramp for my mother's cabin after she had a fall and needed to be in a wheelchair for our visit. The location is perfect for Mammoth caves, only about 12 minutes from the visitors center, and 11 from grocery stores. (18 mins for Walmart). Very highly recommend Rock City Cabins! read more

Ralph the owner is so kind and helpful! He was always checking in on us and truly cares about the happiness of his customers! We stayed in cabin 6 with 2 people and it was the perfect amount of space with a shower and a mini fridge! It is very close to mammoth caves national park as well as cave city where you can find various places to eat! We plan on coming back with friends to rent out a few of the small cabins together, it's a perfect place to gather in-between visiting the park! read more

This place is SUPER fun! If you have a sense of nostalgia for the old roadside attractions, you will love the Rock Cabin Campgrounds. It is less than a 10 minute drive to Mammoth Cave National Park too. We stayed in (recently renovated) Cabin 6. I love watching all the tiny home reviews online, and this place gave us a little taste of that lifestyle. We spent all the time we could outside at the fire. Sadly, the torrential downpours kept us in our super cozy cabin for two nights. Our hosts are super helpful, and made great suggestions about the best caves to explore. We can't wait to come back. We found out this morning that this place is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These cabins were hand built from local natural stone. If you lokk at the pictures, you will see chunks of onyx in the wall. This place is fascinating! read more

I've got to say they sure make this place look adorable online. We rented cabin 1, the largest and the only with a full kitchen. I'll start with the good things, why I give it 2, rather than 1 star. -had a full kitchen -private -close to cave -separate bedroom for adults Why it deserves a 1 star -place was a dump. Paint chipping, carpet ripped in many spots, and so matted and musty and gross that we didn't dare put our bare feet down. Pull out couch was unbearable to sleep on, thankfully we had a spare mattress in the bedroom we pulled out daily. Besides the pull out bed the couch and 2 chairs in the living room were old and broken, almost like they were found on the side of the road. One of the doors to the outside in the bedroom wasn't even on its hinges! The furnace it once had no longer worked so electric heaters were place in the bathroom, bedroom and living room. Thankfully it was decent most nights so we were comfortable. This place needs MAJOR fixing up. Some things that don't even cost much. Paint, carpet and newer furniture would only set them back what they charge for the week which they could make back immediately. I would not recommend this place to anyone. We also never saw the owners other than check in and check out, no checking on us at all. We were there 4 nights. read more

Ralph is one of the nicest people we have ever met, and he is constantly working to update the property while still keeping its rustic charm. This is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. I can see myself coming back, even if all I wanted to do was sleep in and have a campfire at night- this is the place for me. The owner and his wife make a great impression on what it means to have a small business and truly take pride in what you have. For me, everything about rock cabin camping is inviting. The grounds were kept and the rooms were very clean. The cabin we had was small and perfect for two. They have a few large ones to accommodate a family. I actually plan on gathering a group of my friends and coming out for a night away from the city and enjoy nature for a weekend. Managers very nice but that is all it has going for it. Someone stated they were recently remodeled!! What in the world did they look like before? There is nothing cute and adorable about these cabins unless you are in to peeling paint, cracked walls, greasy surfaces, ceilings buckling from previous water damage, warped doors, window units struggling to cool, view of abandoned semi trailer in the back, the worst patched, frayed carpet imaginable, and moldy shower! Tried to find another place to stay but no luck within 60 miles. read more

ADORABLE!!! For the price, this place cannot be beat. The individual cabins are a bit small, but chock-full of charm and have all the amenities of a chain hotel, but you get the privacy of having your own four walls for the evening. There are even fire pits you can use to sit around a campfire and roast marshmallows by at night. Great place to stay if you're visiting Mammoth Cave (only a 10 minute drive from the visitor center) and get the experience of camping without bringing anything other than your suitcase (but you still get to sleep in air conditioned rooms!). Also, the couple that owns the place are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. Highly Recommended! read more

We stayed in cabin 2 with the whole family recently and had a really nice stay. The cabins are older, but it was in good condition. It's a small cabin, but big enough for a family of 4. There's a separate bedroom and a small kitchen. There are two TVs, but only one tuner. The owner really seems to care about the guests and is very friendly. You won't find many amenities here, and we had no luck with the Wi-Fi, but it's nice if you want something different than a hotel. We would be back. read more

I loved this place. It's unpretentious and is exactly as it appears. The owners couldn't be nicer people. Ralph and Lina are the quiet, friendly neighbors you wish you had. We were assigned to cabin 3 and it looks exactly as you see it. It's tiny, charming and super sweet. The inside is just as small as the exterior but fits a full sized bed, a dorm fridge and a microwave. There's also a tiny bathroom in there with a shower. It's not modern and super slick, but honestly, I wouldn't want it that way. It's clean, comfortable and safe. On our second night we were invited by Ralph to view Jupiter, Saturn and the moon through his telescope. It just added to the friendly, family vibe there. I'd recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for a poshy, hotel experience this isn't your place, but if you're looking for the old school, road trip cabins of the past, this is place is a diamond. Very friendly proprietors. We stayed in cabin 9. It was small and clean, perfect for what we needed. We stayed one night on a road trip with two kids. After driving all day the kids were able to run around the grounds and play on the swings to get all their energy out. It was very close to the caves. There were lots of tables and chairs for hanging out outdoors and fire pits so it felt like camping but we still had all the amenities necessary when traveling long distance with kids and no camping gear! read more

We forgot to book a campground for the busy Memorial day weekend at mammoth caves. We called rock cabin camping on Thursday hoping to reserve a place for Friday. Ralph, the owner, was extremely nice and managed to fit us in, and for only 16$ for a night for a tent spot. The campgrounds are clean and well kept, though don't expect much of a forest surrounding you- the campground is on a large grassy lawn with some cabins and spots for RVs and tents. Free showers and coffee in the morning. The campground is five miles from the mammoth cave visitor center and two miles from diamond cave. Beat part was the friendliness of Ralph and his dog, Harvey. read more
