Bought a PS2 from them online & it came in what appeared to be in great shape. Initially, I only had a few games to test it with, but after I bought dozens of other games, I discovered so many problems. The PS2 wouldn't play about half the games (which I did test on a second PS2 & they worked). The battery was dead for the clock, which was the first thing I noticed anyway. I took it to a repair shop & wow, discovered half the components were not even the original parts, but they were not new parts either. Looks like someone refurbished it multiple times & it was so dirty, so clearly Rock 30 didn't do it before sending it to me. Messaged them about it & nothing. Basically, half of the components with the interior have to be replaced. Pay $200 for a more than 20-year-old console that doesn't even work. Highly recommend avoiding them! read more

I don't know what happened to this store. I used to work at the Grand Forks Rock30 about 12 years ago in 2014 and it was a great place to work. We took pride in our service and tried to make sure everyone got quality products quickly. Well now it's a dusty Funko Pop warehouse that looks disorganized and messy. I now live in Fargo and went to the Fargo store to trade in my old PS2 and rare PS2 games. I got a whopping $855 in store credit and decided to purchase a Steam deck because I only really play Steam games now. Well Rock30 only carries some used Steam decks that people trade in. They had a used one at the Grand Forks store. I decided to order it, thinking that it would be the speed and quality I was used to from when I worked at there. BOY WAS I WRONG. It took 2.5 weeks to get from the Grand Forks store to Fargo and when I finally went to pick it up yesterday the Steam Deck was in shit condition. Dirty, banged up case that had animal hair inside it, and the joysticks were worn down. I opened the case and couldn't believe they didn't even bother to try to clean the thing before they sold it to me. I immediately asked for a refund and got my store credit back. I wish I had just taken the smaller cash amount when I traded in my rare PS2 games. Now I have a ton of in store credit for Rock30 but have no use for it because I don't trust the quality of anything they sell anymore. They have very few games compared to what they used to carry. Now it's more of a ton of tacky merch and of course, FUNKO POOPS EVERYWHERE. And Frolf. I have no idea why they sell frolf crap I don't know anyone who buys it. WHO PLAYS FROLF ANYMORE!? And their website has been "under construction" for like 6 months now. I used to be able to look up items and games to see if they carry them. Now you have to call the store and hope the workers will be able to spell and find the item you're looking for. When I worked at Rock30 we had to clean and make sure every item looked as good as possible before we sold it. When we ordered something from another store it would arrive within a few days because they'd ship it directly from one store to another. It's gone so far downhill from what I remember that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone anymore. Maybe for games only but make sure you ask them to clarify if it's in good condition with or without the box art if you order something from another store. I would not recommend getting consoles from them. I guess if you really want Funko Pops they have a shit ton of those so I'd recommend the store for Funko Pops, Frolf if you're a weirdo, and disappointment. read more

The staff is not so friendly, it seems like they do not want to be at work. They have amazing products though and super prices. Just the customer service is no where to be found. Went to two locations and it was crappy customer service both places. If you're looking for some cool products at great places, this is where you go, but if you're looking for customer service, do not go. Just being honest. read more

Traded in my PS4 here and even though they had other trades to process, they still got back to me pretty quickly! I got a better deal here than with their competitors, and walked out with a significant amount of in-store credit. read more

Only reason for 3 star is two separate times I was quoted over the phone about them offering a certain price if it's in fully "like new" condition, only to get there and be offered 3/4 of that for completely made up reasons. I'm being generous by giving them 2 stars. I was only going to give them 1. Almost every single time I've been the store I've had problems. The last time I was in here I waited in line for 30 minutes. One of the employees was busy with a customer. Another was playing a game the entire time. I understand he was checking a system to see if it worked, but he could've taken 3 minutes to help me. This time, I decided to trade in an Xbox 360 with some games. They said it would take 30 minutes, which would've been fine. However, I left the store and came back in an hour. As soon as I got back to the counter, they told me i had to be in the store the whole time when they do the process. And the tone the lady used came off as a little bitchy. This would've been fine if they told me that in the first place. So now I've wasted a lot of time, and I have to wait more for them to look at my console. There customer service needs some serious work. The only reason I come here is for the reasonable pricing. Other than that, I probably wouldn't ever come back. read more

Last night was New Year's Eve and this location closed at 5. They were busy up until close and still willing to stay a few minutes late to buff scratches out of previously owned games i purchased. Almost ten minutes after close, a group of guys knocked on the door and asked to purchase a cable because it was a video game emergency. The. Ice lady working let them in and allowed them to purchase a cable. This is customer service! Love this place and will continue purchasing my retro games here! read more

If you're looking for a local spot to pick up used games (old and newer titles), movies, etc. this is a pretty nice spot. Pricing is pretty spot on to what you can find on the web and they have a nice selection. Staff is friendly and helpful. The store is clean and everything is easy to find. read more

In the mood for some retro gaming I went to dust off Tomb Raider for the original Playstation only to find the disc missing. My wife called around our area but couldn't find a copy so she went online and landed at Rock30games. They had a copy at a very reasonable $5.00 so she purchased it. I have to admit that I was expecting maybe a used disc in a paper sleave but received a new jewel case that included the manual in excellent condition as well as a pristine disc. Shipping time was an excellent 2 days. I am impressed with the pricing, condition and shipping time. However, since our experience was excellent I can't comment on how returns are handled. read more

An employee by the name of Chesney flat-refused to accept a small amount of trade-ins I went in to make tonight. I arrived close to closing but not after close, but apparently the clerk had already closed his till well before the close of the day and then told me that he wouldn't do it. He had no legitimate reason to refuse service, but I suppose I might have made him late for the party that he was on a cellphone call planning when I walked in. I normally get good service and people are so nice there, I can't imagine that this Chesney expressed the normal attitude of his coworkers. I felt insulted and furious that he just completely refused my business for no good reason. read more

You will not find any deals on games here. You will be paying more than top dollar. Gamestop even has better deal on their newer games such as Resident Evil: Revelations for Nintendo Wii U Rock 30 price for it $30 Gamestop $17. Another example was able to find Luigi Mansion for Gamecube for $25 and Rock 30 asking for $40. Another example they want $63 or 65 for MarioRPG on SNESI was able to find it for $45. Go online or pawn shop because you will be paying crazy prices for games on any system. Only good thing I have to say is there console prices are OK but don't buy games here save your money. Their Nintendo DS games if they don't have the case they make there own crappy case and charge you full price like it doesn't matter that its not the original case. They don't negotiate on there crazy prices either. I have also never seen them once do any kind of sales or discounts on games. Fargo needs another retro game store beside this overpriced one. read more
