Buenos Aires, Argentina
Gee, what has taken me so long to write a review of the Rochester ?
Well, yes, I am a procrastinator. I was watching a news piece the other day about the Falklands ( or do you say Malvinas ? ) War coverage regarding a riot in the Plaza de Mayo. Bingo ! I've been there. I was in Buenos Aires circa 2011 during Easter ( Holy Week ). I went to the main Cathedral for Easter Mass and shook hands with the Archbishop of Buenos Aires who now goes by the name of Pope Francis. This news flash brought back memories of my stay at the Rochester Hotel.
I stayed at the Rochester for one week. It is located in the micro district ( down town ) and close to everything. The Hotel is just two blocks from the intersecting Streets of Lavalle and Florida. Both streets are blocked off and no motor vehicle traffic is allowed. Many street vendors offer their wares for sale on those two streets. The Hotel Rochester is a nice hotel and the rooms were nice, neat and clean. Wi-FI is not free however. The rooms are somewhat smaller than a room you might find at the Holiday Inn and pricier too.
I paid $ 225.00 for a room that would cost $ 95.00 at a Holiday Inn near O'Hare in Chicago. Maybe the high cost was due to it being Easter Week. Or, due to it's excellent location. The Hotel Rochester is walking distance to the Plaza de Mayo, the Casa Rosada, Puerto Madero , Avenida 9 de Julio, reportedly the widest street in South America, and many fine restaurants.
The Hotel Desk personnel were pleasant and fluent in English, always a plus. Also available free of charge was the Hotel safe for valuables. Approximately twenty feet from the hotel was a small grocery store where snacks, beverages, and other products were available. The hotel room had a small refrigerator in the room for storage of beverages etc. All in all I had a pleasant stay at the Rochester Hotel. If you are looking for a place centrally located to many tourist attractions, Hotel Rochester is the place for you.
I only gave it 3 stars due to it's pricey cost. read more
