Dr.Lowenguth and her staff redefine what it means to receive dental care. I came to ROC Perio after a bad experience with a gum graft at a different dental group in the Buffalo area; the gum graft failed and the surgeon could not explain why but still wanted to perform another surgery on me. I did not feel comfortable continuing care at this location and sought out a new provider. I had a family member who had received treatment from Dr.Shang at ROC Perio and had a fantastic experience. From my first visit, I knew I was in capable hands. The office is pristine, the administrative staff worked with me to answer all my insurance-related questions (and I had a lot!), and every dental assistant I worked with was kind, professional, and informative. Dr.Lowenguth is masterful at what she does, which is like plastic surgery in your mouth. Beyond her skill, she was welcoming, caring, and explained my care plan to me at every step of the way. She even shared her personal phone number with me after my surgery and told me to contact her if I had any questions or concerns during recovery. Dr.Lowenguth and her team not only performed a successful gum graft, but gave me the information and tools needed to maintain my dental health for the long term while treating me with the utmost kindness and care along the way. I will not go anywhere else for my periodontic needs! read more

Went here for the first time in October, and wasn't that pleased with them, the periodontist did a perfunctory first exam and told me to get a cleaning which I did that day at this office. The hygienist also had loads of feedback about what I was doing wrong and wasn't doing right. I listened and went away feeling like this place blames their patients for their periodontal disease, something I'd never felt in over 25 years of visiting periodontists. I religiously followed the hygienist's recommendations for the next six months, got a cleaning at my regular dentist at the three month mark (as I always do), and returned to this practice at the six month mark for another cleaning expecting some positive feedback. Ha! No way! Even though I had followed the advice everyday, twice a day, I was still told it was not good enough. After I pushed back and said I've done exactly what you told me to do for six months, the feedback changed to it's better, but you're still not doing it right. Again, I felt completely to blame for my genetic predisposition to periodontal disease. After all this high and mighty treatment by them, when it came time to schedule my next cleaning, there were no appointments for eight months! I'm supposed to have cleanings every three months rotating between dentist and periodontist. They have oversubscribed their practice to such a degree that they can't provide the timely treatment their patients require. The hygienist didn't think it odd that I was going to be two months late for my next cleaning with them (it would give her more opportunity to chastise me, I guess). It seems this practice is a-ok with their patients with periodontal disease to not receive the treatment they need on the schedule prescribed by both my dentist and the periodontist. Course, I'm not sure what a periodontist would have said that day, I wasn't seen by one at the end of the visit. I was told Dr. Shang (who I had seen in October for an initial exam) wasn't in that day, and I'd have to come back for another appointment to see her, rather than having another available periodontist do an exam, and write some notes for Dr. Shang about my current condition. When I checked out and asked to make that follow-up appointment, I was told they don't make appointments, and that the scheduling coordinator would call me to make the appointment. I had never experienced not being able to make a follow-up appointment at check-out. This seemed to make it inconvenient for the patient who has to be available for a phone call whenever it's convenient for the practice to call. But, I needn't have worried, just as they don't really care that their patients can't get timely treatment, they also don't care if they actually see a periodontist, no one ever called to schedule that appointment. I was told by the hygienist not to worry there'd be no charge for the follow-up appointment with the periodontist b/c it's included in the cleaning fee. I pretty sure there will be no reduction in the cleaning fee by this practice due to no periodontist ever looking in my mouth. read more

I might have a small conflict of interest in writing this review (my wife is one of the dentists here). However, with that said, I think does an amazing job as a periodontist and truly loves what she does. She nerds out about teeth and I've spent many nights listening to her talk shop with other dentist friends. She actually extracted my impacted third molar and the adjacent decayed second molar. She was a bit mad that I didn't tell her about my tooth pain earlier, but the extractions were done skillfully and quickly. She's great at local anesthesia and honestly I didn't feel a thing. Anyways, anyone who is looking for a gum doctor or interested in dental implants should check out Roc Perio. read more

This was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had in a medical setting. Everyone was so nice and warm from start to finish. What are they pumping in the air? Good manners spray? Have an amazing day spray? Seriously I'd like to know! This explains why I was referred by my primary dental office. The vibes here are elevated. Checking in, in these C19 times, has definitely changed. Roc Perio & Implants made it very safe. Before coming in, you fill out a checklist online, followed by a temperature check at arrival. I was able to take off my mask, obviously, after being escorted to the patient room. My consultation was very professional. The assistant (I suck for forgetting her name) was very warm and personable -made me feel like a friend. Dr. Shang was absolutely amazing and put my worries at ease! She was very thorough at explaining the expectations and working with my main dental office. Overall pleasant and personable too. I couldn't ask for better service. Ivonne (I think that's how she spells it), went over my options and payment plans without judgement. And God bless her heart because I gave her the wrong insurance card! I fail as an adult. Anyhoot, I was able to call to give them the correct one. The entire experience was surprising and amazing. Everyone showed me they are genuinely invested in the care of their patients and that they get the care they need. Couldn't have expected better service. Thanks Roc Perio! See you soon! read more

I was quite surprised, while at the dinner table, to suddenly feel a crowned molar just give way. It broke off right at the gum line and I wasn't eating a candy apple! In fact, it was with a bite of mashed potatoes that it happened. That said, with some pain involved, I contacted the office of Roc Perio. I chose them due to their top flight reputation as well as my husband's recommendation after many years of being treated there. They were great about fitting me in quickly, due to the pain. I saw Dr Shang a couple days later. Dr. Shang is the consummate professional. She is reassuring from the very start and her deft skill magnified the assurance I felt as she worked. Every step went so well - the anesthetizing, the extraction, the thorough cleaning of the socket and then the bone graft. All sewn up and pain-free, I was relieved and impressed. My entire experience, from the first phone call, the support of the surgical hygienist, Dr Shang's expertise -- the entire procedure went so well. I recommend their practice, without reservation. read more

This was my 2nd trip to Roc Perio & Implants to place my self under the care Dr. Lowenguth and her excellent staff. Given my experience with my first implant by Dr. Lowenguth, I did not hesitate to go back when the need arouse for additional implant work. Roc Perio was highly recommended by my family dentist and his use of the word "exceptional" didn't even begin to sum up the standard of skill, care, and professionalism exhibited by the staff in this office, and especially Dr. Lowenguth. These people are the real deal. Take my advice, if you have a Perio issue, you can't do better then the people at Roc Perio. read more

Love Dr. Roxanne Lowenguth, who did an implant for me. Efficient, effective, great relationship skills. Never had pain or issues beyond the medication provided, and it healed right away. Was informed what would happen, at every step. Even recommended a homeopathic after-care oral rinse product, in addition to other medications, which I may continue to use! Thank you ROC Perio and Dr. Lowenguth! read more

I worked for 3 years in an oral surgery office prior to moving to Rochester. I was referred to Dr. Lowenguth in 2019 after telling some friends that I needed a periodontist. Dr. Lowenguth herself and the office staff surpassed my expectations. A clear, concise plan was made for me on day one. Not only are Dr. Lowenguth and the staff at Roc Perio courteous, warm, and professional, but they are very good, likely some of the best, in regard to their work. If you are looking for a periodontist, you just found them. read more
