It's changed a lot since my youth. We used to spend countless hours walking along Robson, window shopping and enjoying the sights. As of late, it seems a hope are more high end at its center and less full. People walking along and enjoying the sights are are fewer and mostly tourists. (Maybe cruise season?) Many of our favorite small shops and cafes (Bread Garden!?!) are now a thing of the past and chains (Starbucks, Tim Horton's) have inundated any uniqueness that once was Robson Street. Still full of restaurants and cafes, shops and boutiques, you'll find something to do and see as you make your way, but know that there is little here that you won't find in any other big city across North America. read more

A really nice place to walk around during the holidays. There are Christmas lights up everywhere, a small ice skating rink and several large Christmas trees. Plenty of shopping and restaurants. Definitely a great place to spend a Saturday night. Enough to see/eat/buy for a couple of hours. read more

Ah, Robson Street. Apparently, this is the high-end, luxury shopping street. I need to thank our Flash Tour guide for pointing that out as my wife immediately bookmarked it. For the Hawaii readers, it's like walking down Waikiki, minus the beautiful beach, white sands, and palm trees, and adding more stores and restaurants. So if you love to shop, especially name brands or unique boutiques, then you should take a stroll up and down Robson Street. The Pacific Centre Mall is also along the way for additional shopping! The north side/Stanley Park side on Robson Street is more restaurants. We've had several different Chinese style restaurants. Hit up Whole Foods, Zara, Sports Chek, Nordstrom, MUJI, Lululemon, and a few more. Needless to say, it was really busy with many people walking about with customers in every store and restaurant. Overall, Robson Street is a nice walk, nice experience. There's a huge variety of restaurants to take a break for a bite to eat and then continue on. Parking is a pain as it's super busy (much like Waikiki), and super expensive! Get ready to spend! read more

Pretty neat shopping strip, especially with the holiday lights (not the prettiest of lights lol but they will do). Wasn't crazy crowded on a Friday night. Good place to shop or take a window shopping walk. There are also a bunch of food places/cafes if you need to take a break. read more

Shopping. Lots and lots of shopping. Flagship stores, casual, mall, high end. Robson is the place to go. Lots of places to rest your shoppers feet and have something to eat or have a coffee. I visited during Xmas so there were extra sparkles and holiday magic to enjoy. There was a lit up golden globe you can walk through. Gigantic Xmas ornaments that made you look tiny next to them. Lovely Xmas trees and holiday sales. Nice quality overcoats for the crisp Canadian air. Holiday music playing. It was awesome walking around and just taking it all in. If you are visiting Vancouver then this is place to be so stay nearby. The street is full of shops mainly name brands and restaurants. After a tiring sight seeing day, this is a great place to unwind and grab a bit or go for some shopping. Stanley park, Canada place and English bay beach are all walk-able from this location. read more

This is the place to go if you're looking to shop and find some food trucks. They have a ton of chain shops and is home to the flagship Lululemon store. There are also restaurants and some boutiques. It's basically like an outdoor mall. It seems to go through the heart of downtown. Well that's the area we walked around. We didn't walk too far up or down on Robson Street, we stayed in the middle pretty much basically from Burrard to Jervis. read more

Robson Street is a major thoroughfare in Downtown and the West End. Its core commercial blocks from Burrard Street to Jervis are also known as Robsonstrasse. Its name honours John Robson, a major figure in British Columbia's entry into the Canadian Confederation, and Premier of the province from 1889 to 1892. Robson Street starts at BC Place Stadium near the north shore of False Creek, then runs past Vancouver Library Square, Robson Square and the Vancouver Art Gallery, until coming to an end at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park. I manage to find my way to Robson Street every time I come to Vancouver. I also used to buy more stuff when the Loonie was at a 30% Discount to the US Dollar. But there are still sales, and it's fun to window shop, people watch, and other wise enjoy this part of Vancouver (rain or shine). I'm particularly prone to stop at one of the Roots stores, Chapters and the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel just a block off the main drag. I've also stayed at the Listel Hotel on the West End side. Robson must also have some pretty high retail rental rates, considering the higher end chain places that have entered this market over the years. It's also the most expensive property on the Canadian Monopoly board. read more

I haven't lived in Vancouver for ten years now, but every time we visit, we seem to make our way downtown to shop on Robson. The only problem is... well, we never end up actually buying anything. And for some reason it always seems to be raining! As for the stores, they are pretty run of the mill. There really isn't anything on this street that you can't get at any decent sized mall. If you're an American or used to American shopping, Robson Street might actually come off a little lack-luster in their offerings. So why do we head out there year after year? I'm really beginning to question that myself. Probably nostalgia. It was the "thing" to do when I was a teenager growing up in the Lower Mainland. Now that I'm an adult, there are quite a few decent restaurants and bars to acquire "shopping fuel" along the way and it is occasionally nice to shop outside (even if it always seems to be pouring cats and dogs). There are more coffee shops than anything else though.... and they are always packed! Coffee shops are to Vancouver what nail salons are to Orange County! Some of my favourite stores... French Connection, Blue Ruby and Roots (I know it's cliche but it makes me feel Canadian!). The street is always busy with tourists and locals alike. It is very clean compared to Granville and other neighbouring streets. Watch out for pickpockets and purse snatchers though... some lowlife was being cuffed by an undercover officer as we crossed the street last weekend. As nice a town as Vancouver is, it is FULL of people trying to take what isn't there's and tourists make for easy pickings. read more

Nice little stretch of a few streets for some nicer stores and great restaurants. Gets packed quickly so be prepared to sit in traffic going through here. Parking's a pain, but you can probably find some garage parking for a decent penny. Nothing like The Grove of Socal or Santana Row of Norcal. Wow every time I come to Robson Street another store has closed or changed name. This place use to be a nice shopping street but has gone down through the years. Yes they still have some big names like Lululemon, Aritzia, Banana Republic, Gap, Zara, Club Monaco so on but you can find those names in any shopping mall with free parking. Street parking meter here is ridiculously expensive, and watch the clock during rush hours your car will be towed! read more

Hrm, not sure what the hype is about Robson Street. It's a fun street, similar to Union Square in San Francisco, but nothing compared to a place like Times Square. It was just a street with a lot of chain stores, pizza shops (which is awesome), and Starbucks. Tons of tourists roaming about with little eateries that made the street unique. Otherwise, it just seemed like a tourist trap and the main hub of Vancouver. There were some cool artists pretending to be robots or singing (not bad singers). Go in with low expectations, or you may be disappointed like me. read more

Robson Street is a hotspot for shopping and eating in Vancouver. My BF and I took a tour late night when we were in Vancouver. Although everything was closed, we enjoyed the nice walk, street decorations and the window shopping. We also saw a guy take off his pants in the middle of the intersection to let loose- intoxicated people have no shame! The following afternoon we came back to Robson Street and decided to shop and looked around when the stores were open. We were aiming hard for going to shops that weren't offered in the US, but there definitely is a lot of similarity. read more

A slight disappointment to be honest, especially for tourist people like us. They mostly have big brand name stores, which don't get me wrong is absolutely great! However there wasn't really any stores that were a 'local brand' or something unique to Canada, from luxury to foot locker, the indoor and outdoor mall seemed like a replication of what we have here in the states. Lively though, makes for a good stroll. read more

We enjoyed it. I had read in a tour book (or somewhere) that this was THE place to shop in Vancouver. And I guess it was. We spent a couple hours in many (too many to mention or remember) shops. Oh Robson Street. This is Vancouver's version of Toronto's Bloor Street, New York's SoHo district, and California's Rodeo Drive. There is an abundance of shopping on Robson but the core of it runs from Robson and Granville to Robson and Bute. Anything you are looking for in Vancouver, you will find. From Armani Exchange and Banana Republic to Aritzia and Blue Ruby... the possibilities are endless! And there are many awesome restaurants on this street as well - from the world famous Cactus Club and Milestones to the fancy Cin-Cin and Joe Fortes where celebrities are often spotted! read more

Liz at Yelp deletes my review. It was an honest written review. Liz probably accept bribes from the Robson street business association. Robson street has become a horrible street and the worst place to shop. Full of american chain stores. The City of Vancouver parking nazis are agressive in giving out parking tickets if you are just 1 minute late getting back to your parked car. The name robson comes from John Robson who was the premier of BC from 1889 to 1892. He died in 1892. A premier for only 3 years and he gets a street named after him self. Maybe they should rename it Gordon Campbell street as he was premier for longer. Robson is anchored by Stanley park at one end and BC Place at the other end. In 1885, There used to be train train tracks down Robson which had many shops by the immigrants from Germany. This is how Robson was called Robsonstrasse and used to have street signs saying this. Robson used to have many german deli's, restaurants and grocery stores. They all disappeared by the 1980's when the american chain stores started to move in. For a brief time in the 1990's, there was a British Marks and Spencer in the place now occupied by Zara from Spain. Today, Robson is just a route to get to Stanley Park, on the way you can stop to get a bland coffee from that boring Starbucks or even worse tasting Blenz or an expensive macaroon from Lauduree. There is no independent businesses left on Robsonstrasse. read more

4.25 Stars I am surprised by how low the reviews for this area are on Yelp. I almost did not visit this part of town due to the low Yelp reviews. I'm glad we had nothing planned in the afternoon on our 3rd day and decided to give it a shot. My family had a fun time walking around and popping in all the shops. The highlight was the flagship Lululemon store. It has the same exact prices as the States, but since the CAD is 25% or more lower than the USD, it is like getting everything on sale. It was interesting that their sales people were all curvy while the ones around me (on the Westside) are all skinny. We had some local chocolates and some local sweet drinks, all maple syrup flavored. The ladies at the Tesla store were fabulous and allowed us to kill time there while waiting for our driver to pick us up. Around the corner are the high end shops. This street also dead ends into Stanley Park. This area is for shopping and relaxing. It is nothing different than you could find here in L.A., but it is still a nice way to spend a leisurely afternoon. 90minutes - 2 hours would be enough. read more

Girls, go here. Boys, leave your wallet back at the hotel. Downtown Vancouver's primary shopping area. Various high end stores and boutique shops, restaurants and the best part, not many bums vs. cities like San Francisco and Manhattan. Nice area to stroll around even if you don't want to shop. Looks nice at night too. The shopping area is around Robson and Burrand Street. Along Robson and Granville is the Entertainment District (more bars and clubs). Expect to pay more to shop here. I checked around on clothing prices and everything was anywhere from $10-$30 more expensive than the states. Take into account the exchange rate and 12% tax here. No shopping spree for the GF. I guess the surcharge goes to the extra clean streets. read more

Robson's Street is Vancouver's answer to Rodeo Drive. Gucci, Armani, Virgin Records, Bebe and then homegrown favorites like Lush, Roots, and Aritzia. For some bling - check out Blue Ruby, Saatchies & Saatchies and Plenty. And then there's the Food! You need to keep your energy up for all the shopping. Try Cin-Cin or the Cactus Club. For a good walk around the block, sure, for what use to be a place to be seen, and the street to be on is one that now can't even hold a business down, and is over-inflated in rental price, and lacking human foot-traffic. Whoa, why are you being so rough with Robson, what did it do for you... nothing really, except try to become some fashion street selling name brand goods, and almost trying to guarantee that their would always be business here, well times change, minds change, people change and the stores... some have stayed the same... others.. more or less have disappeared due to how people just don't shop anymore, and the ludicrous rents for store are on this block, unless you are a big box company that has advertising dollars to spend, and not expecting the store on Robson to turn a profit, by all means, put your shop here, also for you to all know, the foot traffic is also weather dependant. I remember one of my first jobs was working on Robson in the early 90's and back then it was a 'hip' thing to be on the block. You wanted to be seen here, eat here, shop here, the area was booming, you had more variety of stores, shoot, you had two Starbucks on kiddy corners facing eachother on Thurlow and Robson (even Seattle doesn't have two so close together to eachother) and a flare that even people in Toronto, let alone travellers from afar knew about Robson. I remember when people tipped well while working at Earl's on Top, parking was free after 6pm (yeah, that really was once upon a time!) HMV was across from London Drugs (now that location has been vacant for almost 2 years, if not more) and there used to be a TGIF's restaurant above from the Starbucks on Thurlow. What you find now is a street that is a shell of itself, it may look busy, but go into any store, and if they are turning some kind of profit, they are the rare ones, really, even the Payless Shoes on the corner of Bute shut down cause it couldn't sustain business, but the one on Granville is making mass money..... One thing that Robson has a ton of, especially on the stretch of Thurlow and Bute is eyeglass stores, if your looking for the big stores like GAP (yes, they are open the earliest, and the latest), Banana Republic, Club Monaco, Boys'Co (I think they are closing soon), Forever 21, the new Victoria's Secret, Salvatore Ferragamo, MAC, London Drugs, Lululemon, Aritzia, Mexx.. yeah, they are all here like a shopping mall, and that's to name just a few. If your looking for the one-off's... well, that's a tough one... restaurants, you got the big box ones.. (Earl's, Cactus, Red Robin), even Moxie's couldn't survive (yes.. that one on the corner of Robson and Bute) and you say this is the to be place to be? On the lower end of Robson.. as a street, you get some Asian flare from all the ramen joints and Korean restaurants that have popped up, a little more difference, but really Robson is over-rated, and this is coming from a person who lives in Vancouver, and has worked on the block, it's like coming to a mall, just outdoors, with enough posers, people showing off their sound systems and their cool 'drug' money vehicles and showing fake wealth. One thing Robson is still fun on doing... people watching.. you will really see all types of people here, just buy a drink, and stop and watch, you will go 'huh' pretty fast on what you see. read more

A popular tourist destination in Vancouver, BC. I thought it was okay, maybe it's because I have a bunch of these stores back at home. Maybe it was because I don't shop at the expensive stores since I'm a broke college student. Maybe it was because there was a lot of people walking down on the street, which kinda reminded me of the streets of NYC. If you aren't into the shopping and just here to window-shop and look around then do head over and check out Robson Street. I have yet to try the restaurants in this area but I'm pretty sure they would be legit since they are in a mainstream location. I agree with Phuc B., that there weren't too many bums hanging out on this street. But by the surrounding areas, there were many more lurking for change. Overall, a solid A-OK! read more

I'm not a city person even though I grew up in the city..lots of people it's crowded and too noise and messy but Robson is still worth going even if you don't go a lot once in awhile is still nice. If you have never been I really do recommend you to check it out and go to waterfront (water st.) like gastown and even walk around the ocean area. Get a feel and experience the downtown life you know. Lots of great desserts shops and restaurants at downtown! Most have reasonable prices and decent if not good services. Robson is handy for a day of shopping when you do not want to be couped up in a mall. In addition to the shoppes there are lots of restuarants and coffee stops along the way, though admittedly the cafes mostly seem to be Starbucks or Blendz... caffine nonetheless. The funnest thing about Robson by far though is the people watching. Sit yourself down at a cafe patio and just watch the people passing by and eavesdrop on conversations... things just seem to be colorful here. Just be ready when heading down to Robson the annoyance of way too many people, and for some reason people like to walk [slowly] in rows of 6 people taking up the entire sidewalk... it's beyond me why. just because I live here, it barely gets a 3. All relative right? Some stretches are good and new, especially towards BC Place with new restos popping up, but Thurlow area, lots of 'For Lease' signs. Then from Jervis to Denman, not much action. And if that's not an issue, too many optical frames stores and not enough eateries. Now back to the relative point, compared to Toronto or Chicago's Mile Long shopping district, Robson would be crying. And if we're talking Shanghai, then Robson will be hiding. I love robson street, its a nice walk almost any time of the day. I especially love checking out the different cafes and vendors along the street. I just recently was able to enjoy the ice rink that they have on Robson. It was fun to strap on some skates and do some ice skating in the city. read more

Robson Street is pretty amazing. My review is only for the food since I didn't do any shopping. If you keep walking on Robson street, away from all of the shops, you will eventually hit a plethora of ramen shops, Asian restaurants, Asian dessert cafes and even a Japanese market! If you're looking for some authentic Asian food, definitely come here. This place is walking distance from the Fairmont Pacific Rim, although a bit hilly. You really can't go wrong with any of the ramen spots while walking on Robson, but I suggest you research for which one to go to. Same goes for the many Asian dessert spots, whether it's shaved iced, teas, bubble teas or cafes. I ended up here because I was looking for ramen. I ended up trying 2 ramen spots, bubble tea, pastry shop and omakase. Definitely make this place a spot to visit if you're in town looking for some Asian food. You won't be disappointed, but do some research beforehand. read more

Robson Street is for the brand conscious. Those who say- an AX t-shirt is worth the 70% markup. Do you only buy jeans on it that have a little Eagle on the back pocket? Maybe you like to assert your womanliness with a shirt that says BEBE? If being a walking billboard is your thing- than Robson is your place. The brands vary from ridiculously expensive to moderate. This has become the tourist destination of the Olympics. Currently most of the street is roped off and pedestrian only for the occasion and let me tell you the millions have arrived! Pretty much every shop you would want will be somewhere along here or very close by among a side street and in between them are numerous restaurants with vastly different flavors. Comparisons to Bloor and Rodeo Drive are expected. As with any major shopping street in any city, it draws a wide variety of local and foreign retailers, tourists and locals. Brands like Club Monaco, French Connection and Banana Republic line the street alongside countless restaurants. Robson anchors the whole area, providing a clear way to offshoot other side streets that hold more high-end powerhouses, such as Tiffany's, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Robson St - where the only shopkeepers who can afford to rent space here are either major, expensive chains, or merchants selling stuff with a high profit margin. Where looking good is what it's all about. Where people over 35 are way too old. Where people-watching (mostly tourists) and window-shopping are the only reasonably-priced activities you should indulge in. Commercial Drive is far more interesting. Winners and Walmart have better prices. Richmond has better Asian cuisine, but hey...Robson St is easy to get to and sometimes that's a good thing read more

being that i was only 17 when i first became fascinated with Vancouver... Robson Street was where little teenagers like myself would shop til i dropped. as the years went by, i ended up liking this street less and less. the appeal and quality wasn't cool anymore. dining, shopping, browsing, etc. - everything i used to love doing here in my teens all came to a halt after many years of returning back to B.C. however, for those that have never visited the area before... i would recommend this area. the locals and the constant visitors of Vancouver like myself... tend to stay clear away. read more
