I walked in on a busy Monday morning and asked to have my tires looked at, since they were at least five years old. The owner, Russ, was fabulous. He walked me out to my vehicle to show me that (huzzah!) my tires were only half-worn and didn't need replacing yet. (Had I strolled into another local tire place, I probably would have gotten the old, "Oh wow. You've been driving on these for how long? They must be changed immediately!"-routine.) But not Russ and his crew. The one suggestion the owner made was a tire rotation, which I took him up on. Service was speedy and the staff was very customer-friendly. This appointment was made at the recommendation of another Outstanding garage. The garage that did the recommendation had completed ALL work and had inspected the car. The ONLY thing that the car was in need of was an alignment. TWO DAYS LATER, I OPENED UP MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENT TO SEE A $462 charge! I contact my son-in-law he tells me that they told him he needed two rear tires. Their argument is, they said my son-in-law says he needed two tires and an alignment! This is nonsense! What garage takes two PERFECTLY GOOD TIRES off of a car and replaces them? Oh, and for the record, these tires were just bought last February. They were less than a year old. I bought these tires from Tallmans in Rome. I thought I was dealing with a stand-up business. I guess I was wrong!!!

While I was waiting, it became clear that both of their tire techs called out sick. They had people scheduled. Daniele was the employee at the desk. She called those people and explained that there would be delays and explained the situation. She gave the customers the option of rescheduling or dropping off with a later pick-up time. The exhaust pipe and muffler on my 25 year-old Toyota Celica were completely disconnected due to…read morerust. I called TP on a recommendation from Midas to ask for an estimate, and was told that they will only provide an estimate after looking at the vehicle. Reluctantly, I brought my car in for them to look at. I knew that I was in position to be taken advantage of, so I braced myself for the worst. Amazingly, they just removed the bad parts of the pipes and welded a new pipe in place, connecting the exhaust pipe directly to my existing muffler. I won't say what they charged me, because it was so little that if I had heard the cost as an estimate, I wouldn't have believed it was true. And they changed the car's oil for me, as well. The car's exhaust is now even quieter than when I first had the entire exhaust system replaced, which is something I cannot explain. This will be my go-to shop for exhaust work from now on. A++

Norm, I presume, broke out is nasty attitude right from the get-go saying "well I was there until 10 I'm not there now", implying that I ever had any clue as to what his personal schedule is. I asked him if there was any way I could pick up my car today and pay him for the tow and he said he would call me back. the only positive thing about this transaction is that Norm did call me back in a timely manner but still treated me, his customer, as if I murdered his puppy. The conversation went as follows: Norm-Yeah, I'll go back but you better be there because I'm not waiting around for you. And you have to have cash. Me-Okay, how much will it be? Norm (snidely)-Well I don't know I'm not there! And its gonna be a $30 fee for me coming back. Me-Whatever While I was waiting for my ride Norm called to show his dismay that I wasn't there. I gently reminded him that I did not have a car in my possession and that I would be there soon. The minute I walked in the door I was greeted by Norm telling me how he was doing me a big favor and giving me a deal. He towed my car 2 blocks, kept it for 10 hours and charged me $30 extra to go to his OWN business and take my money. He said "I don't normally come back", whatever that means. Its not the money put me off about Norm's Service Center, $95 is pretty standard for a tow, it was the mean, rotten, nasty attitude. I've worked in various forms of customer service for over 15 years and one thing you NEVER do is treat your CUSTOMER like you are doing them some kind of godly favor. We were traveling through the Utica area last night when we suddenly heard a pop in our front tire…read more My husband and I searched for a place to get our tire fixed, as it was closing time and many places were closed or closing. We found Mavis on Oriskany Street and pulled in. We were immediately impressed by the manager. He noticed our military license plate and said that he would take care of us, especially since he values the men and women of the armed forces. He and his staff could not have been more accommodating and professional. After a short time, we were back on the road. We were grateful to this man for staying the extra time, after hours, to help us out. There are still good, caring people out there. Thank God, we found one.
