Well this aquarium store is more towards saltwater but they have a pretty decent selection. Another aquarium place recommended coming over here just to do as a bucket list and my only disappointment is there's no fresh water and that's more of my interest but they do have good salt water selections a little pricey but I guess they're stock is pretty decent the fish don't look sick or the inverts next to a frag tank. From what I learned Rob had split from Mario from aquatica and did not know about this place so do give a check out this is an alternative if you're down in Tinley Park beyond aquatica. But do not go here for freshwater fish if you're getting into the aquarium hobby and you just want to do freshwater that's where you go to animal Island in Midlothian read more

This is a great place. The owner and the staff are great and down to earth. They always take the time to answer questions. When I'm looking to purchase a new fish, they ask me about my tank and make sure that it is a proper fish for my tank. I appreciate that because not ever place would care. Rob's Aquatics doesn't want you to waste your money on something that would not survive in your fish tank. They never try to sell me equipment or chemicals that I don't need. I buy all of my reef water from them for my water changes and it's so much easier because it's always spot on. Once I started getting my reef water from them, my algae problem subsided. Just a great place whether you're starting off, like me, or a pro at this! read more

I'm assuming this place is new because there is no lighted sign like the rest of the plaza (It's located in the Jewel-Osco strip next to Cosmo-Prof). I shop at Cosmo-prof and I heard about this place from a friend. Regardless, I felt like when I walked in I wasn't welcome and wondered if they were open to the public. I was not greeted and as I looked around it seemed as if there was 3 employees on staff at the time. I have a very sick fish and needed some advice. There are a lot of cool fish to look at so I started roaming around. After about 10 minutes FINALLY someone asked if I had a question. I told him my dilemma and he just stood there and nodded. He basically said there is nothing else I can do and keep doing what I was already doing. Unsatisfied, I bought some water conditioner and the owner cashed me out. He didn't say hello, goodbye, have a nice day, nada... he only averted from his conversation with his friends to tell me my total and take my money. I expect this from a McDonald's but not a specialty store. I try to shop local but in this instance I will probably just stick with Petco. read more

NUDIBRANCHES ON CORAL, STAY AWAY!!!!!!!! This store sucks! Its small, dirty, and your choice on corals and fish are very limited. I bought a couple corals from them and about a week later I noticed some of my polyps disappearing. I took a closer look and I noticed small nudibranches on them that eat polyps until there's none left. (I know it was from them because I havnt bought anything new for a few months before I bought the stuff from here) Because of that, I had to buy a yellow coris wrasse (not from them) take out all my coral that I had left, dip it, put it back, and then hope for the best that the insect looking things don't kill anymore of my expensive pieces. If you don't get them all, you have to redo it and I suggest you get a turkey baster to suck them off if you see any. These things repopulate like crazy. Do yourself a favor and don't buy anything from these guys. The prices might be a little cheaper than their competition, but you'll be thanking yourself later and you'll be saving yourself a lot of time and money in the long run. These little bugs are nearly impossible to get rid of fully. read more

I have bought a tank, some other equipment and several corals and fish from Rob. He has listened to what I am looking for and has placed several special orders for me. When I had problems with sick fish he did make several suggestions about one but with the sick seahorses he looked it up but couldn't find anything else to do and they both eventually died. I think sometimes there just isn't very much you can do in some cases. But Rob was very helpful to me in cases where he had something new to suggest. He is an extremely honest man and doesn't push you to buy like some places. read more

Just recently started my tank and bought all of my equipment and live rock from Rob's. I know Rob back when he was managing an aquatic store on Archer and Central (Capture the Sea). Rob has great stuff and the key is he's very trust worthy. I recently had a problem with a pump. He replaced it without a question even with me not having the box or accessories. In addition, he has some great live rock. Rob's live rock was covered with great purple line algae and inverts growing on it. I highly recommend the place; in fact I drive 30+ miles to get to it. read more
