Mike was done quickly and the area was cleaned up. After he had left, I noticed he had pulled a very short distance down the road and then strapped his load down. At first I thought it was irresponsible of him to leave without being safe, then I realized that my yard was free for me to do what I needed or wanted and he was finishing up his process without interfering with his customer. This dude is weird af. I requested for a quote, he showed up and gave me a fake quote for $1500 for junk removal for my property. I had other quotes for approx $3000-5000 and approx 3-5 days, but this dude "supposedly" can do it for $1500 in 6 hours. I decided to hire him for the job. So he stated that he wants $100 upfront to draft the agreement because he saw some other people showing up as well. So I did let him know to send over the agreement so I can review it and sign and submit the $400 deposit that he requested. He denied and made this super complicated. I own a few properties so this isn't my first time dealing with people like this. So I called twice, no pick up, then only texted me after our first conversation. He tried to ask for my personal address, full name, and social security number. At this point, I was very sketched about this dude and I finally called and he picked up and I did let him know that we will not send any $100 or giving you my personal information until I see the agreement. Like you can just take my $100 and walk away dude. He started talking about relationships and trust, and I'm over here like, dude, just send the agreement so we can hire you. As you can see, everything started to become very strange as he's making this very complicated. So I did let him know that, if you don't want this job, let me know now so i don't keep wasting my time. He started saying random things and I let him know that, "I'm going to stop you right there and thanks for your time." So I literally hired someone else that was and had been waiting for my respond and submitted the deposit within that minute after this dude's BS. The very next day, which is today, my junk removal guys were at my property and this dude, MIKE ROBERTSON'S! shows up with his small white pick up truck and told my junk removal guys that he's going to break my home because we wasted his time. Like, dude, you drove back to do all of this? I think you're wasting your own time. Like damn, imagine all the crazy stories people have. Who would have guessed that it's my turn for story time. I came in from out of state to help my mom free up some money so she could afford her medications. I had guys lined up to do the work and 3 different crews cancelled. I reached out to Robertson's Junk Removal and they were the crew I didn't even know I needed. They worked to pull everything out of 2 large storage shed and a 5x7 so we could either keep stuff or junk it. The large units were filthy (sat for almost 17 years) and most of the stuff was junked. These guys never complained and they were so supportive and helpful. They were extremely fair and fast yet still gave us the time needed to go through the boxes. When I say they were a blessing, I truly mean that. Not only did they help condense into one unit but they also hauled away a whole trailer and truck bed full of junk. AVOID! PERMANANT DAMAGE TO MY HOME! I hired Robertson's to remove the plants out of planters in my backyard as I prep for a move. I included pictures and explained the only way to my backyard is through my home. I was quoted $150 via Thumbtack. I was then told the cost would be $350 "given the material and social handling needed." I was fine with that, assuming they would do the proper prep work to ensure my house was not damaged. The crew arrived and I went downstairs as I work from home and had calls. I left out yard refuse bags, gardening gloves, and gardening tools. I assumed they would empty the plants into the yard waste bags - easy peasy. In the middle of the job, the crew explained that my largest planter broke and "it must have been too heavy when they were carrying it." I explained that was OK - things happen - even though it was a $200 planter. A few minutes later, they said the job was done and that "another plant had grown into the planter and they couldn't get it out." It then became clear to me that the crew had not used the lawn refuse bags but rather had carried each planter out to their truck and dumped it there. And, they had dragged the second planter out to their truck without asking me what to do with it. Even though it was a $150 planter, again - not the end of the world. I was in between meetings at the time and paid the guys and since I am a generous person, I tipped $50 and went back to work. The next day I noticed two 20-foot-long huge gashes down my wood floor leading from the backyard where the planters were to my front door. I then went outside and noticed several places where they had damaged the masonry of my outside stairs. In one place, there is a huge divot. The two planters were purple, and you can even see the purple paint remnants around the damage in the pictures I have shared. I reached out to the owner the next day and was kind and polite but explained there were issues and I sent pictures of the damage. The owner said he would ask his crew (at least one of whom was his son) what happened. He is refusing to pay for the damage because he says: 1. He said the damage was "more likely something heavy was once rolled through the house on an appliance dolly causing those marks." Not true. The damage is from the planter. The marks are new and close together just like the bottom of the planter. I have not moved any appliance into my home in the 7 years that I have owned it. 2. He said I tipped when the crew was still here. I was busy - I was working - I didn't inspect the job as I thought I was hiring professionals. 3. They are claiming the stairs were already damaged (they were not) despite the fact that is very easy to see the new gashes as they are clean and in some cases, pieces of masonry are still hanging off the damage. (See photos.) 4. I explained that I am moving which is why I am getting rid of the plants. He wrote "you are actively moving or in preparation of a large move makes it incredibly difficult for us to claim ownership of any damage here." Outside of the plants, my home is intact. I do not have movers coming for another 3 weeks. There have been no movers or any workers here, other than Robertson's crew. 5. He said I do not have images of my floor or front stairs prior to the work. Who takes pictures of their floor and front stairs? In short, I am incredibly disappointed not only in the shoddy work but the lack of taking accountability. Robertson's sent two young boys to do a job they didn't know how to do, weren't strong enough to do, and didn't know how to properly treat someone's property. They also didn't clean up behind them and left dirt all over my backyard and front steps. I read the positive reviews and thought I was hiring pros. Clearly, that was not the case. My home is forever damaged due to Robertson's awful care. read more
