It's important that I write this review because feedback on L&D Home Remodeling is non-existent -…read moreon Yelp, Google and social media. Even their website is fairly simple and in some spots generic. My husband has been handling this major purchase for us, a customized door, and in full transparency I've been anxious since paying our deposit. My husband contacted this company about installing a customized wooden and patio door. It's not one that can be purchased from a big box retailer and another company had let us down. He shared L&D was responsive and came to visit a couple of times for measurements and a complimentary quote. They required a 50% deposit that we paid by check. Their order form was fairly basic, which was another moment of pause for me. Compared to other contractors it felt very basic and left me with more questions - did they carry insurance? What was the ETA of the door? Did they have a customer guarantee? Communication with L&D was more reactive to our questions than proactive but at least they've responded. Our door arrived close to the estimated date. The morning for install the team showed up on time and thankfully the door fit as expected. The team found a few areas that needed to be finished differently - i.e. the older door has covered flaws in the doorframe build. This delayed the completion of the install of the screen door portion but for a positive reason. L&D had hoped to bring out another person to add siding but when he wasn't available they decided to complete the job themselves. It made for my husband being "on call" for a few days but he appreciated the early morning communication so that he could go into work for the day. The balance for the door and install wasn't asked for until the completion of the job. I'm excited to have a new, safer door with frosted windows and a patio door. Already we've enjoyed opening up the screen and letting air flow through the room. No bugs! And, calmer dogs because they can see us on the other side of the door.

It took five but they never fully completed it. We had to hire another contractor to finish the tile and repair damages and shotty work they left.

There was too much of some of the flooring. My first two phone calls I was told that the low price was due to a special order. Since I was gone when my wife ordered it, I asked her and we looked at the paperwork. The special order was a different part of the flooring. The third day I called and pointed out I couldn't find it in the paperwork, but did find it for some tile in the basement and explained my wife said it was only for the basement. At this point, two friends who were familiar with the business talked with them. Finally, after calling every day that week, they said they would take back the stuff not special ordered and credited me the ~$800 back. In the end, I will happily pay more and not deal with the good prices they offer. If anyone really wants to use them, I would suggest using their installers as well - I didn't and that seemed to be a big part of a couple issues. It was about 50% of the time I got a call back if I had a question or complaint. If I don't hear back in 2 business days I call back. On a positive note, I had a manufacturers defect with portions of my floor. The owner did come over and check it out after an independent inspector found the floor was flawed due to manufacture defect. I got two boxes of flooring and the labor covered. I asked if I could have their installers come do it, since my guy had moved on to other houses. I was told no because they weren't the original installers and if anything went wrong they didn't want to be liable. It was also pointed out parts were not done to their standard. In the end, I have decent floors, but not as nice as our other house - which remember we went in asking about. With what I paid, they look pretty good, especially with the pretty rugs and furniture covering portions of it. I will not use them again. Once the final payment was made and the boxes were in my hands, I was asked to change my review on here for the fifth time. I was also told by the owner he was, "giving me 48 hours" to change it. It took almost a year to get this completely settled. At times they were very nice and helpful. Other times, they were rude. I, personally, will not use them again and I bet they would refuse to have me as a customer. If you know exactly what you want and can do it yourself, go for the deal. Otherwise, pay more money and go somewhere else.
