Even their website is fairly simple and in some spots generic. My husband has been handling this major purchase for us, a customized door, and in full transparency I've been anxious since paying our deposit. My husband contacted this company about installing a customized wooden and patio door. It's not one that can be purchased from a big box retailer and another company had let us down. He shared L&D was responsive and came to visit a couple of times for measurements and a complimentary quote. They required a 50% deposit that we paid by check. Their order form was fairly basic, which was another moment of pause for me. Compared to other contractors it felt very basic and left me with more questions - did they carry insurance? What was the ETA of the door? Did they have a customer guarantee? Communication with L&D was more reactive to our questions than proactive but at least they've responded. Our door arrived close to the estimated date. The morning for install the team showed up on time and thankfully the door fit as expected. The team found a few areas that needed to be finished differently - i.e. the older door has covered flaws in the doorframe build. This delayed the completion of the install of the screen door portion but for a positive reason. L&D had hoped to bring out another person to add siding but when he wasn't available they decided to complete the job themselves. It made for my husband being "on call" for a few days but he appreciated the early morning communication so that he could go into work for the day. The balance for the door and install wasn't asked for until the completion of the job. I'm excited to have a new, safer door with frosted windows and a patio door. Already we've enjoyed opening up the screen and letting air flow through the room. No bugs! And, calmer dogs because they can see us on the other side of the door.

Specifically, we brought in Nailed It Contracting to replace and paint the kitchen ceiling (after we had taken down the nasty '80s-era drop ceiling that was concealing old water stains and crumbling plaster), repair and paint the walls (which were full of damage and several layers of wallpaper), demo old built-in cabinets and lay tile on the floor. He satisfied each of these tasks. Additionally, we were impressed that: * Sam provided a written quote estimate that laid out all of the costs, * He held to this quote when he had to change gears on part of the plan, after what he thought would work did not, * He was flexible when we added a few things to scope of work, providing a change order and updated price for us to sign so that everything is documented, * He showed up when he said he would and generally finished the job during the quoted time period. Overall, we were very impressed with his professionalism, honesty and quality of work. We'll definitely have him back to work on more of our house.

Their incompetence and lack of craftsmanship led them to hire another company to complete their project correctly because his crew continually made mistakes. I asked a friend and she said this often happens when someone doesn't want to do a job, that they over quote you. That makes me sad, I just wish they had given me an honest quote and then told me if they couldn't schedule me because the job was too _________. Designer Builders just completed a complete kitchen makeover for us. This is the second major…read moreproject DB has done for us, and the second one where there WAS NOT ONE PROBLEM FOR US during the project. The first was a partial bathroom renovation, which included tearing out and replacing a master bath shower that had leaked for years, with the addition of a skylight in the shower. I needed to stay in my master bedroom while the work was being done, and DB was very careful to leave everything tidy at the end of the day so I could live in the construction zone. The workmanship was flawless. Three years later, it looks as good as the day it was finished. The kitchen project was a complete gut, with an expansion to encompass what had been a porch, and the addition of a new porch. The house was built in 1926, and keeping the original look was important to us. We also had a limited amount of space in which to work. DB came up with a design to maximize storage and utility in a modest space. They carefully removed the old brick and reused it, so the addition is seamless. The original built-in oak icebox was removed, refurbished, and re-purposed as a focal cabinet. The custom cabinetry was designed to mimic the original cabinetry which was too worn to salvage. As expected after the first project, the workmanship is beautiful. We couldn't move out during the construction, so neatness counted. The workspace was cleaned every day so that we never felt overwhelmed by the construction mess. We worked with the owner and a 2-person crew, who we got to know well over the course of the construction. We knew our home was safe in their hands, and that they employed trustworthy subs. And, when the need arose due to medical issues, DB brought food and mowed our lawn. We actually miss them now that the job is finished! THANK YOU, DB!!

I am passing on my negative experience with Aqua Lock Mold Mitigation. Not ever having any…read moreexperience with doing Mold Mitigation I went into this naive. My anticipation was more based on the fear that is out their of having Mold. Our experience started with a major water leak because of repair in the street by the Louisville Water Co that caused the breakage of a upstairs toilet hose because of a hydraulic surge in the piping when they turned the water back on. The water was turned off within 20-30 minutes but water flowed from the 2nd floor all the way down to the basement. A remediation company was called in and started the removal of water soaked materials. When the insurance company was called it they approved the tear out of the materials that received damage from the water. The tear out exposed the existence of preexisting mild mold presence on studs and joists. We contacted Aqua Lock at the recommendation of a realtor. Got the quote inquired the process and the time it would take to accomplish the mitigation process. Because we were pressed for time I proceeded with Aqua Lock. My anticipation from the fear out there that they would arrive all suited up and with breathing devices. NOT!! Two guys showed up and all they had was two gallon containers and two spray bottles. Inquired about the not having any protection PPE they responded that they do it all the time and have not had any adverse effects from it. They proceeded with the mitigation and ALL they did was spray done all the areas with occasional wipe down. They finished with in an hour. The charge for this was $1956.00 I also got a Radon Mitigation quote from them and it was $1465 which would require much more time, materials and equipment than an hour of spraying. We had another company come in to do the Radon Mitigation that also did Mold Mitigation and discussed the situation with them and ask what they would of charged for the same service. They gave me a budget quote of less than $500. Sent an email to Aqua Lock about my surprise of the discrepancies and looking for justification for the cost. All they could give me was that they have a 10 year transferable warranty on their service. NO HINT of any compensation for their price. My recommendation is to shop around and ask a lot of questions first before proceeding with having the service done. All the people at Aqua Lock were friendly and good to work with just I feel that I got taken on the service. Hope this is helpful and saves you the disappointment and money we experienced with Agua Lock Mold Mitigation!!! We were disappointed with Aqua Lock not on the service but on the cost of $1956 for the hour service (basically only spraying down the infected areas) that it took to provide the Mold Mitigation. Then after finding out from another provider that they would of done it for less than $500. SHOP AROUND!!! We were naive and shame on us for letting this happen to us!! Called for justification of the price and basically all they could tell me for it that it comes with a ten year transferable warranty and others do not.
