It ran…read morefine for 15 years after John's Clocks (now retired) got it running back in 2009, but it had taken him one overhaul and 10 follow-up visits to get it running smoothly. Fast forward to spring 2025 when I tried to adjust the timing myself and ended up breaking a part. Based on John's recommendation, I called Phil who picked it up and had it at his shop for several months. He had to manufacture a part as well as make numerous adjustments. It took several more home visits and another stay at his shop to finally get it running smoothly. Phil's price was reasonable and although it took a while to get the clock perfectly balanced, he always made it clear I could keep calling him back until it ran smoothly. To other customers, I would say to keep in mind this is not like a 2-hour engine tune-up, especially for grandfather clocks.

Today was the first time I went here to get a watch battery. It was an old watch which belongs to…read moremy father. The watch repair person told me it was 10 dollars to replace a battery which was normal to me. After opening the watch we found out there were 3 batteries, but only one was needed to function for time keeping. She helped save me money, because it was an old watch and my father is 76 and just wants the watch to run. She was professional and efficient. I was also glad that she accepted credit cards. I had this firm replace the movement on my 34 year old Seth Thomas grandfather clock…read more This guy is a fast talker, so be careful to get very specific with him about what the house call and appraisal will cost BEFORE he steps into the house. I hired him to give me an appraisal and before I knew it, he was removing the movement and insisting that he had to replace the movement. Which was probable true, but he didn't give me a minute to even think about. He took the old movement with him which I insisted I wanted back. Naturally when he returned to install the new movement, he did not return the old movement. He did eventually return it with some of the hammers missing. He never showed me the new movement so I could see what I was getting for my $1100. I can only hope it was a quality product since it is now in the case. The clock seems to keep time well but the chimes are all screwed up. When using the Westminster chime setting, one note in the sequence was much softer than the other notes. He was slow to call me back but he finally made a house call after I made a couple of calls. He said he thought that the chimes sounded fine but when I pointed out the problem he attempted to "fix" the problem. The result was that the chimes sound worst than ever. I should mention that this guy, by his own admission, is very hard of hearing and wears hearing aids in both ears. When I told him the chimes were worse sounding, he said that that he thought that they sounded fine. When I insisted, loudly, that he fix the problem, he said he was going to walk out of the house. He then tried to adjust the sound by taking out the brand new hammers and replaced some of them with old hammers from clocks he has repaired. The sound is now so bad that we no longer use the chimes. He insisted all was fine and left without resolving the problem. I will now have to hire another clockmaker to repair the chimes or attempt to fix it myself. I will most likely have to buy some new hammers to "replace" the old one he put in. Don't let this guy anywhere near you grandfather clock. We are very upset as the clock was a special gift to us.

I submitted my Lumnox Navy Seal watch for repair. I obtained the link to Saltzmans Watched from the…read moreofficial Luminox website. I dispatched the watch via UPS and paid the $35 fee for shipping and assessment. The only required repairs were a battery replacement, band replacement, and inspection. I did not receive any confirmation regarding the watch's arrival. After contacting the store via email, I received a response. Subsequently, I received a message indicating that my watch was too old and could not be repaired. I had only requested a battery replacement, but they informed me that they could not open the watch. No email or message inquired if it was acceptable to replace the battery without guaranteeing water resistance after the repair. After several emails and no response, I had to contact the store. I was informed that the watch would be returned without a new battery. I could have saved over a month of time by visiting a local store and having the battery replaced in approximately two hours. However, I believed this was the most appropriate place for this significant watch to be repaired. The sole reason this review does not receive a one-star rating is that I received a refund for the $35. However, upon receiving the watch, I discovered that the band was broken. I can assure you that it was not damaged during transit. Additionally, I found another review of a watch that was returned with a broken band. I strongly advise against sending your watch to this store. Instead, shop locally and have repairs performed. At the very least, there will be some communication. I understand that this is an older watch and may not have significant monetary value. However, it holds sentimental value for me, and to have the watch and myself treated this way is unacceptable.
