Roberto's Taco Shop - Partial order of the rolled tacos I covered in their red and green sauces. Delish! - Mexican Near Me - Lakeside, California

Very disappointed with my experience. I ordered a carne asada burrito, and when it arrived, it was more like the size of a rolled taco than a burrito. The carne asada was extremely salty--so salty that my lips were puckering after a few bites. The tortilla was also so crispy that it actually had a crunch. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience, and I would not recommend this place. Save yourself the disappointment and find another restaurant nearby. read more

I scored this a 3 because it was very lackluster, the burrito is a fair size, however approximately 25% of it was folded tortilla. The wet sauce was basic flavor, tasted canned. I paid $9.50 for a wet bean and cheese burrito, price seems excessive for beans, cheese, tortilla and canned red sauce. The menu showed $6.50 for the burrito, meaning the wet sauce was a large up charge. I got red and green sauce on the side, the green was bland, red had a little spice. Drive through is a little tight for larger vehicles. Small parking lot for free parking. No inside dining, but they do have some tables in front and walk up window to order. Service was average. Probably wouldn't go back to this location, there are too many other options for Mexican food in SD. read more

Roberto's Taco Shop - Wet bean & cheese burrito - Mexican Near Me - Lakeside, California

I ordered 3 rolled tocos with guacamole and cheese. I told them not to fry them hard. When I got home they were in fact fried hard. So hard that when you tried to chew them at felt like there was sand in them. It gets worse, the styrofoam container had two big long holes in it. All for $7.50 . Won't be going back. I would recommend avoiding this place. read more

I've been here a number of times. Outstanding service and food. Today after errands, I drove through for chips and guacamole. Service was still good, but the food was horrible. I live three minutes from the place. Food is still hot and fresh when I get home. Not this time. The chips were stone cold and stale. Guacamole excellent. Cheese wasn't melted because the chips were cold and stale. Extremely disappointed. read more

paid $13.97 crane asada no pico for this don't recommend, Ive been in lakeside for 20+ they definitely make smaller portions than before read more

Food was blah.. I moved to Utah and tastes the same as up there. I remember ordering California burritos growing up down in Chula Vista they have guacamole sour cream and cheese in the burrito and here is totally opposite and super dry. I only went here because my family lives here. Never again read more

Pretty disappointed. I've lived in San Diego all my life so I know Mexican food. Waited in the drive-through for 35 minutes, even though there were only six cars. I figured if these people are waiting, then it must be good. Ordered a surf and turf burrito, a Carne Asada burrito and two tacos. Tacos were OK but the surf and turf burrito only had two shrimp. The Carne Asada meat had a lot of grisle and fat. Looks like I'll be staying with Sombrero's across the street. Never had a problem there and the food is always good. read more

I ordered a Cali burrito and added sour cream, and a large Diet Coke. $21.45 was the total. Bank statement says I was charged $23.01. Will never give them any business again. The math doesn't add up. Straight up robbery. $21.45 was already ridiculous but that wasn't even what my total was charged. read more

worst cali burrito ive ever had. It was straight microwaved fries and the meat tasted like monkey ass .

This was our favorite place but the last few times the Carne asada meat is so dry and chewy with no flavor

By far worst potato breakfast burrito I've had in all of San Diego. The fries were hard and undercooked, the portion size was mediocre for the price and they charged 1.50$ extra for egg that they didn't mention until we got to the window to pay. We waited in line for 30 minutes for our meal to be made and it was NOT worth the wait. When we asked about the up charge on eggs they said they didn't know anything about it but would mention it to the guys. Horrible experience and horrible food. read more

Which all the taco shops out there this is one of the worst I've tasted. Rolled taco & cheese were taste less. Their chicken taco was soggy and not good at all. We had heard that this taco shop was good.. we won't be back. The workers were rude and had bad service read more

One of the best Mexican places around the area. Their fries are always good and crispy and their bean and cheese never disappoints!! Definitely would make a 10-15 drive just to come here instead of anywhere else around the area!! Service is always good and they aren't greedy with their salsas which is super rare nowadays. The only downside is there is a wait time on weekends and Mondays but it's really not too bad. read more

I live close to this place and go here often for always good Mexican food service is also fast

California burrito was awesome. Meat nicely cut, no fatty pieces. Cheese well melted and fast and friendly service.

This used to be my favorite and it is still my favorite. If I know the right crew is working. They have messed up my order way too much I'm very specific on my order and it's very simple Carne Asada burrito, sour cream and cheese only I don't want any guacamole or pico or bull crap there's one crew that is there on busy days and they get it every single time. They hit it out of the park and it's my favorite burrito. But there's another crew that works on the off days Mondays Sundays, Tuesdays, (the slower days ) they mess up my order every single time, the long lines are ridiculous and the food just sucks on those days the chef everything about it is terrible and a waste of money But if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, it's the best food you've ever had. It's a shame that you have to look at who's running the cash register before you order and then you have to check. Who's the cook? read more

If you're free to kill an hour of your time for food that has to be remade and cold hard fries all in your burrito. They failed to mention that they are currently charging an extra for eggs now because of the shortage. I don't mind paying extra for what I want but to not even mention when ordering or before on the menu but a sign as you're paying that they failed to mention unless you're checking closely. Fries had no seasoning let alone any salt. Much rather go to bad hombres in santee than this taco shop. It's San Diego they're a dime a dozen. read more

This spot is a tiny stand in a parking lot with the option of walk up or drive thru. It may have been a good spot before, but according to what I got, (5 rolled tacos), it wasn't what I anticipated. They were all dried out and soggy. The only crispy parts were the ends that weren't smothered in coagulated cheese and what I assumed to be guacamole. I wouldn't recommend, unfortunately. read more

It doesn't matter what time I roll through their crew usually has me in and out of the drive-through within five minutes! In my personal opinion, you're the best Roberto's out there! The interior is a little antiquated, but personally I love the 90's/2000's feel so I give it 10/10! read more

If you are going to charge a credit card service fee, then post it or tell me verbally. That is a 8% increase in my bill. When I asked the employee about it he just shrugged. Then he said "it's posted right here" and pointed to a non existence sign. He was absolutely of no help and just told me about the phone number on my credit card receipt. I understand why businesses do this, and I would have happily paid cash if I had known. In fact I would not argue about 50 cents. It is about the deception that I am truly troubled. The surcharge alone would not warrant one star. The employee apathy would not warrant 1 star. So let's talk about my burrito. I had a grilled chicken burrito and all I can say is it was abysmal. The meat was chewy and overcooked. The seasoning was poor. San Diego is literally littered with fast food Mexican places. You don't have to drive more than a block to find another one. Don't waste your time with this one read more

Crispy Bacon breakfast burrito! Served all day... always amazingly delish. Friendly, smiling staff.

Omg yes! I loved it. Not too spicy. Not too greasy. Not bland. I loved the tacos here. It is my second favorite comfort food and ordered for my daughter's class once. All were happy!! read more

The lady was friendly. There is a surcharge of $.50 when using your credit or debit card. The food came very fast. My grilled chicken and cheese quesadilla was huge! The marinade that they use for the chicken is delicious!! I like both red and green salsa. The red is hotter than the green. read more

Best bean and cheese burrito and it was only $5. The hard shell beef taco was also good. Love the Mexican cheese on top. I think I'm going to try the Robertos near my house in Hazard center and see if it's just as good. Going back to the OG taco shop in San Diego. read more

I used to love this taco shop.. the last few orders have been super disappointing! Carne Asada has no flavor and was super dry. Beef tacos were not crispy and filled with greasy meat. Unless it's one of the ladies taking the order, the guys are always so tudie.. just super bummed cause now I have to travel out East county to get decent Mexican food! read more

Cashier has the worse customer service. The food presentation is like they don't care about it

Beware! Horrible food and toxic! Ordered a carnita torta. It tasted like the Styrofoam that has melted on it when they placed it so hot from the grill. It was soggy and inedible! Same with the crunchy tacos. Soggy and nothing crunchy about them. This place is simply disgusting. Straight to the trash. read more

I give it four stars for Mexican food it's delicious. I give it two stars because whoever is listening or taking your order cannot want speak English and the other thing is that sound microphone thing needs to be replaced. So customer when you go there the food's good prepare to wait hopefully it's not too cold when you get up to the counter. And always always check your food before you leave cuz they'll screw it up they do not understand you want this taco no cheese add guacamole or add cheese or you want to Taco and not a burrito they will screw it up check your food before you leave and check your receipt to make sure you're being charged the right thing... Make sure your food is hot don't leave before you check!!! read more

I had a very good breakfast burrito from here. I ordered the dice ham, eggs, potatoes, cheese, and I had them add some salsa fresca. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/robertos-taco-shop-lakeside?select=eJrsRWMRanx9DtuHsysRpQ#BDqjCXZijSPI0zy-5iHPOw) The burrito was of good size and The eggs and all the ingredients were all well cooked and mixed together. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/robertos-taco-shop-lakeside?select=eJrsRWMRanx9DtuHsysRpQ#PP65Oo8OXlaFh8Czm8BB2Q) I did however think it needed more ham. I tried both of their hot sauces. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/robertos-taco-shop-lakeside?select=eJrsRWMRanx9DtuHsysRpQ#40BT-cBPV1Fb7S7oLaIm6w) Once again, the green hot sauce was my favorite. It had the perfect heat, tasted great, and it ran through the burrito well which allowed me to enjoy it in multiple bites. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/robertos-taco-shop-lakeside?select=eJrsRWMRanx9DtuHsysRpQ#0v59J1jz2T7-8ekHDt4Bvw) Red was good, and the red color was definitely vibrant. It had a light kick and tasted mild. It could of used a little more aggressive seasoning. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/robertos-taco-shop-lakeside?select=eJrsRWMRanx9DtuHsysRpQ#aDTo8vqMSdtwzh-u8nXgBw) The flour tortilla of the burrito was out standing. It had a slight buttery flavor and texture, and they toasted it nicely to give is light crusty shell. I also tried a small side of re-fried beans. They were creamy and robust. I imagine they would go well in a bean and cheese burrito. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/robertos-taco-shop-lakeside?select=eJrsRWMRanx9DtuHsysRpQ#hExMIwHI8V9qepFwEpprqQ) The lady who worked the counter was very nice. They have a very busy drive through and seating out doors only. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/robertos-taco-shop-lakeside?select=eJrsRWMRanx9DtuHsysRpQ#81DxZpj5Ezaha3hnwmqHsQ) read more

Really good carne Asada burritos the meat is tasty and peppery. prices have gone up a little but they're still full of a lot of meat. sauce is a good. people are nice. other taco shops skimp on the meat and fill the carne asada burritos up with rice and beans. Not this place tho. This is like the In-N-Out of taco shops. It's really good and there's a long line out the driveway. read more

Look at the pictures. I've actually been a loyal customer there 10+ years. Quality of the food is not bad. Few employees are cool. I'm a pretty laid back guy. Polite when I pull up. Try to make the interaction quick and easy. I don't ask for some crazy order. I usually get the same order every time. Most likely it wasn't intentional but still not cool to find. It wasn't til I was chewing on one that I took a closer look and dug around and found one. I didn't want to keep looking in fear of finding more. read more
