I scored this a 3 because it was very lackluster, the burrito is a fair size, however approximately 25% of it was folded tortilla. The wet sauce was basic flavor, tasted canned. I paid $9.50 for a wet bean and cheese burrito, price seems excessive for beans, cheese, tortilla and canned red sauce. The menu showed $6.50 for the burrito, meaning the wet sauce was a large up charge. I got red and green sauce on the side, the green was bland, red had a little spice. Drive through is a little tight for larger vehicles. Small parking lot for free parking. No inside dining, but they do have some tables in front and walk up window to order. Service was average. Probably wouldn't go back to this location, there are too many other options for Mexican food in SD. read more

I ordered 3 rolled tocos with guacamole and cheese. I told them not to fry them hard. When I got home they were in fact fried hard. So hard that when you tried to chew them at felt like there was sand in them. It gets worse, the styrofoam container had two big long holes in it. All for $7.50 . Won't be going back. I ordered a Cali burrito and added sour cream, and a large Diet Coke. $21.45 was the total. Bank statement says I was charged $23.01. Will never give them any business again. The math doesn't add up. Pretty disappointed. I've lived in San Diego all my life so I know Mexican food. Waited in the drive-through for 35 minutes, even though there were only six cars. I figured if these people are waiting, then it must be good. Ordered a surf and turf burrito, a Carne Asada burrito and two tacos. Tacos were OK but the surf and turf burrito only had two shrimp. The Carne Asada meat had a lot of grisle and fat. Looks like I'll be staying with Sombrero's across the street. Never had a problem there and the food is always good. read more

By far worst potato breakfast burrito I've had in all of San Diego. The fries were hard and undercooked, the portion size was mediocre for the price and they charged 1.50$ extra for egg that they didn't mention until we got to the window to pay. We waited in line for 30 minutes for our meal to be made and it was NOT worth the wait. When we asked about the up charge on eggs they said they didn't know anything about it but would mention it to the guys. Horrible experience and horrible food. read more

One of the best Mexican places around the area. Their fries are always good and crispy and their bean and cheese never disappoints!! Definitely would make a 10-15 drive just to come here instead of anywhere else around the area!! Service is always good and they aren't greedy with their salsas which is super rare nowadays. The only downside is there is a wait time on weekends and Mondays but it's really not too bad. read more

This used to be my favorite and it is still my favorite. If I know the right crew is working. They have messed up my order way too much I'm very specific on my order and it's very simple Carne Asada burrito, sour cream and cheese only I don't want any guacamole or pico or bull crap there's one crew that is there on busy days and they get it every single time. They hit it out of the park and it's my favorite burrito. But there's another crew that works on the off days Mondays Sundays, Tuesdays, (the slower days ) they mess up my order every single time, the long lines are ridiculous and the food just sucks on those days the chef everything about it is terrible and a waste of money But if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, it's the best food you've ever had. If you're free to kill an hour of your time for food that has to be remade and cold hard fries all in your burrito. They failed to mention that they are currently charging an extra for eggs now because of the shortage. I don't mind paying extra for what I want but to not even mention when ordering or before on the menu but a sign as you're paying that they failed to mention unless you're checking closely. Fries had no seasoning let alone any salt. Much rather go to bad hombres in santee than this taco shop. It's San Diego they're a dime a dozen. read more

It doesn't matter what time I roll through their crew usually has me in and out of the drive-through within five minutes! In my personal opinion, you're the best Roberto's out there! The interior is a little antiquated, but personally I love the 90's/2000's feel so I give it 10/10! read more

This spot is a tiny stand in a parking lot with the option of walk up or drive thru. It may have been a good spot before, but according to what I got, (5 rolled tacos), it wasn't what I anticipated. They were all dried out and soggy. The only crispy parts were the ends that weren't smothered in coagulated cheese and what I assumed to be guacamole. I wouldn't recommend, unfortunately. read more

If you are going to charge a credit card service fee, then post it or tell me verbally. That is a 8% increase in my bill. When I asked the employee about it he just shrugged. Then he said "it's posted right here" and pointed to a non existence sign. He was absolutely of no help and just told me about the phone number on my credit card receipt. I understand why businesses do this, and I would have happily paid cash if I had known. In fact I would not argue about 50 cents. It is about the deception that I am truly troubled. The surcharge alone would not warrant one star. The employee apathy would not warrant 1 star. So let's talk about my burrito. I had a grilled chicken burrito and all I can say is it was abysmal. The meat was chewy and overcooked. The seasoning was poor. San Diego is literally littered with fast food Mexican places. You don't have to drive more than a block to find another one. The lady was friendly. There is a surcharge of $.50 when using your credit or debit card. The food came very fast. My grilled chicken and cheese quesadilla was huge! Best bean and cheese burrito and it was only $5. The hard shell beef taco was also good. Love the Mexican cheese on top. I think I'm going to try the Robertos near my house in Hazard center and see if it's just as good. Going back to the OG taco shop in San Diego. read more

I used to love this taco shop.. the last few orders have been super disappointing! Carne Asada has no flavor and was super dry. Beef tacos were not crispy and filled with greasy meat. I give it four stars for Mexican food it's delicious. I give it two stars because whoever is listening or taking your order cannot want speak English and the other thing is that sound microphone thing needs to be replaced. So customer when you go there the food's good prepare to wait hopefully it's not too cold when you get up to the counter. And always always check your food before you leave cuz they'll screw it up they do not understand you want this taco no cheese add guacamole or add cheese or you want to Taco and not a burrito they will screw it up check your food before you leave and check your receipt to make sure you're being charged the right thing... Look at the pictures. I've actually been a loyal customer there 10+ years. Quality of the food is not bad. Few employees are cool. I'm a pretty laid back guy. Polite when I pull up. Try to make the interaction quick and easy. I don't ask for some crazy order. I usually get the same order every time. Most likely it wasn't intentional but still not cool to find. Food: Well, it's a taco shop. So... But my wife said that their beef tacos were the bomb. I've had plenty of beef tacos in the past and I didn't think they were incredible, but she liked them and said she would be back. Also, they gave us a poop-ton (I'm trying to be PC) of salsas. My wife always says that the quality of a taco shop depends on their salsa and she actually likes their red one (usually she doesn't at other places). Bean and cheese burritos are large for the price. Standard taco shop. Atmosphere: I didn't go in. Actually there is no "IN". I think this place used to be a Rally's. The outside could use a fresh coat of paint. Otherwise, it's a taco shop. It's not the outside of the place but the quality of the food that counts. I mean, classic taco stands in Mexico are on the side of the road (literally!) so I would not really complain about this place. Price: Cheap! Very affordable. I think for my family of 4 it was like 22$ for a good, solid Mexican meal. And like I said before, the B&C burritos were huge. Service: This was probably the only downside and why this isn't a 5-star review. The drive thru was insane. We waited over 30 minutes in line. Now... for good food, it's worth it but it still was a little discouraging. But, my wife has a saying about dentists. If you can't get in an appointment for a month or two, that's usually a good sign. If you can schedule a visit the next day, that should be a little suspicious. So the line being incredibly long just means the food is worth it. Overall: Again, for that last star, they have to do something about the line. We actually drove past today and my wife said we should stop to get lunch, but the line was out to the street. Their surf and turf burrito is SO Bomb! I really like their carne asada and Cali Burritto too. The best thing I have had is still the surf and turf Burritto. There is always a long line when I go but it goes very quick. Good is always fresh and hot! I love their red salsa and it's very spicy. The lady that helps the drive through line is super sweet and helpful. I had to make a change to my order and it was no problem. She didn't make me feel bad for changing it.
