The staff working the front desk are quick, helpful and really know what they're talking about when it comes to the different lens available. Back to Dr. McCalla, I've been coming to him for almost six years and I can honestly say that he's great. He gives his honest professional opnion on anything from Lasik to which brand of contact to buy. The eye exam begins by you taking about three different test- one to test your peripheral vision, a puff test (worst one in my opinion), and something else I can't rememeber. Then you go see Dr McCalla. He never rushes you and if you're interested in contact lenses, he really does try to find the best one for you both comfortwise and visionwise. The only thing I would point out is that this place can be a bit expensive, but worth it. He does not accept insurance but has an optometrist who comes in on the weekends who does.

The receptionist was nice and accommodating to our needs. It took a few weeks to get our glasses in. But it was worth every minute. The new glasses are not only stylish but very helpful. I will definitely recommend Dr. Jacobson to anyone else who needs the best service. Two thumbs up

As you're waiting in your vehicle people are knocking on your car window asking for a dollar. Very shady neighborhood they should allow you to be inside. At 11 AM I walked to the door knock and the lady said he still not there I said cancel my appointment she immediately says no problem. I see why they have no appointments today. The receptionist didn't care to lose a customer at all it seemed. I gladly will take my business elsewhere. Are usually buy 2 to 3 pairs of glasses when I go to an optometrist to their loss.

Dr. Gary Gegerson has been my family optometrist for well over twenty years. I vaguely remember a…read moretime when I was not seeing Dr. G. I do remember another optometrist office in Miami that seemed so far away though, and as a child, I suppose things are just like that. Having said that, Dr. Gegerson exemplifies the essence that is a doctor with good 'bedside manner.' Yes, Dr. G. speaks softly and with a tone you can easily understand, regardless of age, and yes, Dr. G. will make jokes or ask about the family to make you feel at ease. While all that is fine and dandy, Dr. G. always tells you the truth and in plain English. Dr. G. will not sugarcoat or dance around anything that you need to hear and when working with your eyes, this is a huge responsibility. I had LASKI back in 2006, with the recommendation of Dr. G.'s trusted surgeon. I hesitate to bring the name up, as this is a review for Dr. G., however Dr. Cory Lesner is the name and he too is amazing. GO check out my review for MILLENIUM if you wish. (Shameful plug.) As a child I could not touch my eye and with the need for either glasses or contacts, getting near and using the contacts was not for me. I just could not do it. Dr. G. worked with me, so slowly and carefully, and though I was never able to place the contacts in, Dr. G., showed me the difference of wearing them in different situation and how I might be best fitted for something like LASIK. The style and approach Dr. G. takes with his patients is to make sure they always know what is going on and with the expectation that they will be seen in a timely manner. I have not once waited in his front office for more than ten or so minutes. We all know that is amazing when thinking of any doctor. Dr. G., his wife and right-hand man (lady), Dale, are a great team. So, if looking for an eye doc in the Pinecrest, Miami area in general, I could not recommend any one else. Oh, by the way, I used to live in Kendall and now I live in North Miami. Once a year, I do make the pilgrimage to see Dr. G. and Dale. No excuses. SYOY!

I had an eye exam shortly before going to him for the first time (probably 5-6weeks) and my glasses (first time ever wearing eyeglasses) were giving me headaches and made me feel dizzy. He checked my lenses, and they matched my prescription, but upon checking my eyes he found that I have an astigmatism that was not noted in my prescription. He wrote me up a new prescription, I had new glasses made and have never had a headache from glasses again!! Dr. Gegerson is a pleasure to deal with, never rushes, explains everything and answers any question you can come up with!! I am due for a check up and will be going back to him! Update: I was quoted $90+ for an eye exam. As much as I trust and like this place, I have to find elsewhere to do our eye exams from now on.
