Once upon a time, I was ignorant of the teachings, beliefs, and value of chiropractic work, as it just wasn't something we learned about in school. Instead, I learned all about drugs and their value in treating patients. But when I developed numbness in both hands, I had to see someone! My first step was the hand specialists at USC (read my review...rolling my eyes). The doctor stated I had classic carpal tunnel, and spent less than 5 minutes flat telling me I needed surgery. Um, no way! As I was talking to my other healthcare friends, I heard one talk about Dr. Verdugo. Honestly, I decided it couldn't hurt! It took me a couple months of debating before I went to see Dr. Verdugo, but he was pleasant, professional, and was willing to answer all my questions about Chiropractic. And I'm not kidding when I say I had a lot of questions! His answers put me at ease and made me understand the logic behind chiropractic work! He took his time, explained, he took some X-rays, reviewed them with me, and developed a treatment plan. Honestly, within a month, the numbness went away-and it hasn't returned. I've learned to get in tune with my body, and now I can tell when my atlas is out. When I see Dr. Verdugo, he confirms it! My girlfriend had excruciating headaches which would keep her up and she would even have to miss work from the pain! I referred her to Dr. Verdugo, and from that first day he adjusted her, it subsided! She mentions that had she not met Dr. Verdugo, she probably would have shot herself by now from all the pain! I suffered from lower back pain for many years and it was something that bothered me too much and made me feel useless and old with only 47 years old. FANTASTIC CHIRO!!! When I first went in I was in massive pain. My right arm was fully locked and screaming pain if touched the wrong way. My former chiro had moved and I saw many over the last few years to try and replace him. Dr. Verdugo is now my favorite chiropractor. Even over my original chiropractor. One adjustment I was no longer in pain and had mobility back and in three my arm strength was back to normal. I found Dr. Verdugo by chance - I hurt my back pretty badly and he was close to home, so in I went! I've been suffering with lower back pain for close to 20 years (due to an accident and trauma that was never properly treated). Over time I've just learned to avoid activity that would put any undue stress on my back. But, when my back went out this time I knew traditional dr's and therapists were not going to be much help, so I decided to try a chiropractor. Initially I went in for lower back pain and weakness, and after less than 2 weeks with Dr. Verdugo I realized that I no longer feel pain in all the parts of my body that I was simply accustomed to feeling pain. I was so use to the low grade aches, pains and stiffness in my neck and shoulders, back and hips that it became my normal. I had never had any chiropractic work done before my experience with Dr. verdugo and I definitely had my doubts on whether or not anything would help me with my condition. I was seeing an acupuncturist to help flip my breech baby (I was 36 weeks pregnant) and she recommended I see Dr. verdugo when I mentioned the horrible pelvic bone pain I had been experiencing for the last couple months of my pregnancy. I was diagnosed by my dr with SPD which is s condition from pregnancy where the pelvic bones loosen up too much and become unstable, causing very severe pain. My pain was so bad that I could barely walk. I had to use a chair in the shower because I could not stand in the shower and I had to be helped up and down the stairs at my house. I actually had to utilize a wheelchair anytime I knew walking more than a few steps would be involved ( i.e. The grocery store or Christmas shopping). I was seriously resolved to the fact that the duration of my pregnancy I would basically be on self imposed bed rest due to the pain. That all changed when I visited Dr. Verdugo a little over a week ago. I explained my symptoms and he adjusted the bone in my lower back. I was scared it would be painful due to my sensitivity but there was no pain at all while he was adjusting me. After a couple days I started to notice how little pain I was in! I was going up and down my stairs on my own, climbing into the shower with no assistance, and I have even been able to enjoy doing a little bit of Christmas shopping without a wheelchair! Honestly, it is remarkable and the only change I made was visitng Dr. Verdugo so I know it was this adjustment that fixed my displaced pelvic bones. I used to be in so much pain at night whenever I got up to use the restroom after laying down for long periods and now I am experiencing very minor to no pain at all! I had horrible headaches-which made me nauseous- to the point where I'd throw up. My stomach was also upset, to the point I couldnt eat. It even interfered with my job. I'd wake up at night crying from the pain (and I'm NOT a weakling )! I then met someone who suggested Dr. Verdugo. I admittedly didn't know much about chiropractors, but figured it couldn't hurt to try! (Those of you who experience headaches know you would try almost anything to be normal again). But, I honestly didn't expect much. The first visit, Dr. Verdugo took some x-rays and explained what he saw. It still didn't make sense to me, and he proceeded to adjust my neck and back. I'd say after the first session, the pain subsided by 80%. I was surprised and hopeful, but still skeptical. By the 2nd visit, I was a believer. But even more importantly, I started to understand how my nervous system and skeletal system were inter-related! I still see Dr. Verdugo. I found Dr Verdugo while looking around for a chiropractor close to home. The price beat everyone else I was calling, and the reviews looked good. Initially I was skeptical of the traction process, but I was intrigued by the idea my x-ray might show a big improvement after completion of his regimen. I figured worst case scenario I was still getting a chiropractic adjustment for a price I couldn't beat anywhere else. Over the course of a few weeks I was buying into his system and I stuck with it as best as I could. The results have been amazing! I have a desiccated disc, and was told that I would likely need back surgery, but I haven't felt sciatic pain since shortly after seeing Dr Verdugo. My lower back pain has also markedly improved. I now visit only once every three weeks, and when I go in he will examine me and ask "were you having any pain in your foot?" Sure enough I was, and didn't even realize it was related to my spine. I can't recommend Dr Verdugo enough. He is passionate about what he does, but as far as I am aware, he's the only one doing the traction treatment anywhere near here. Dr. Verdugo fixed my severe sciatic nerve pain that I got from pregnancy. I was unable to walk. I went to several chiropractors and spent over $100 each visit but it didnt help for more than even an hour. Someone referred me to him and WOW i was able to walk after 2 visits and healed by the 4th visit. I allllllways go to him during and after pregnancies to get PROPERLY adjusted! Dr. Verdugo is great! He takes a holistic approach to spinal and overall health over the long term. I first went to see him because I was experiencing the re-aggravation of a lower back injury after having to sit for long periods of time. Dr. Verdugo's focus has been with how to strengthen my spine and thus make my entire system more healthy and therefore prevent future pain while also relieving my most immediate areas of pain. He started the process by taking x-rays of my spine to use as a reference point. He showed me in detail where my problem areas were and explained how we would use traction on lower-back and neck and exercises to strengthen those areas. Also, he would adjust my spine as needed, but never just for the sake of making adjustments. Dr. Verdugo's belief is that if the spine is in alignment, it shouldn't be disturbed. Dr. Verdugo also recommended specific supplements and nutrition that contribute to an overall feeling of health. I am very appreciative of Dr. Verdugo's knowledge, dedication, and care. 7/21/2013 Dr. Robert Verdugo is an incredible Chiropractor. He is the "FIX IT" doctor. You describe your pain and he has a "fix" for you. He will do his research til he finds the right treatment for you. I have been a patient of his for more than 5 years. I had some back issues but recently I developed Sciatica pain. I am now 90 % better and I know it will soon be 100%. Besides the treatment there is a calm and peaceful atmosphere and that attributes to your healing. Love this Doctor. With his adjustments, he has help me survive menopause. I was suffering with fatigue but once I set up bi monthly adjustments with him my sleepiness went away. Dr. Verdugo is phenomenal!! When I arrived at his office, my back would seize up where I could barely walk for 1-2 days at a time, had terrible lower back muscle spasms, unable sit at my computer for more than a three hour stretch, carrying a purse was painful and driving required an ice pack along with not sleeping through the night. I was in bad shape. It turned out, that I had a 7mm disc bulge. After working with Dr. Verdugo consistently and following his guided holistic plan; chiropractic adjustments, block and weight techniques for lower back strengthening and relief, stretching and exercises, icing, fish oil, probiotics and positive thinking--I am now back to the gym stronger than ever, healthier and happier and nearly pain free with an overall massive improvement to my health and outlook!!! While i was writing about this it gpt too long, so TL;DR- Dr Verdugo fixed me up, suffering from 4 months of back pain, couldn't sleep but got better within a month or so and I actually sleep well, not waking up due to pain anymore. And here is the full extent of my review. So just like many of you I had my fair share of horrible chiropractors. Some of them sat me down for 40 minutes on a massage chair and tell me to come back next week for the same treatment which did not make any difference. But since my back has been hurting past 4 months and made me wake up 2 in the morning because of the pain, I thought I would give them another try. However, this time, I did go on Yelp and looked for a chiropractor with the best reviews. I left a message on the phone and he called me a day after. Even though it was a holiday he told me to come in right away and we got to work. First he took xrays and compared how my spine is supposed to look opposed to how it looks right now which is somewhat close to a mangled thing. little did I know that this was the start of the end of the pain. Ever since I went to Dr Verdugo my back pain has been almost non-existent. My favorite part is the weight s also called traction. It makes me feel like my lower back is floating in space. After a month of going to the clinic my back pain has been reduced to 15% and it has been about 3 months of following his directions, doing the exercises, drinking his healthy green juice , I can say that I no longer wake up 2 in the morning because of pain, curled up in fetal position and be really tired the next day. In fact past couple days I actually overslept because none of my back was bothering me. I still go to him regularly because I had more problems that kept on coming back. And every time I go for a treatment I learn new things about my body, how to take good care of it, and leave with a lot less pain. If you have been burned by other chiropractors, try him out.
