Great office staff and Dr Attia is very kind!…read more I went to see him twice and both times I would recommend!!

When I had my consultation, I did feel confident I was in good hands. However, it went downhill…read moreafter that. I decided to only get a tooth pulled and bone graft done and did not want to proceed with the implant. I contacted the financial person indicating my wishes. I was told to arrive 30 min prior to my appt. The woman who checked me in had no idea the plans for the procedure had changed as it was not noted in my account. She had to check on that. After paying, I was promised a copy of my receipt before I left. I never received that. After waiting 30 min, I was finally taken back for the procedure. The assistant poked and prodded me for my blood and could not get a vein. The Dr. Attia was able to get it on the first try. (Note: I was badly bruised for 2 weeks after that first attempt). That same assistant proceeded to talk about her personal life to the other assistant NON-STOP and never talking directly to me. I learned more than I needed to know about her life. This was extremely unprofessional. The doctor came in and had no idea I decided against the implant. The tooth was pulled and bone graft done. I was told 3 times that Dr. Attia would call me and check on me that night. I am still waiting on that phone call and it has been 2 months! A month after my procedure, I contacted the office to complain about an additional bill I received. I explained to the woman who answered about every issue I faced. She promised me it would all be addressed with the doctor and office staff and she would call me back by Friday. The following Monday I called and spoke to the office Manager, Kim. She was never told of my call and issues. She listened to everything and told me she would get back to me. She never called me back. The office did put in an appeal for one part of the procedure and when I received notification it was approved from my dental insurance, I contacted Kim via email indicating I was actually owed money. She agreed and told me a check would be cut. I waited and a check never came. I sent her back an email and called the office. Lynn told me she would check with the doctor. She told me she would call me back. A call never came. I placed another call and Lynn told me the check was mailed and Kim was supposed to inform me. She never did. The lack of professionalism in this office is totally unacceptable. Nothing promised was followed up on. I cannot even guarantee the doctor knows of any issues I brought forth. So my guess is nothing was addressed and my complaints brushed off. I advise anyone to stay away!

Daughter had wisdom teeth extracted on 4/5/2022 - no problems with the procedure…read more Billing/accounting has been an absolute exhausting nightmare for nearly a YEAR: #1 - March 2022 AOFS charged me $44 consultation fee upfront even though that was fully covered by Cigna Dental Ins. (They were paid promptly by ins but they did not reimburse me). #2 - April 2022 AOFS charged me $3135 up front for wisdom teeth extraction even though this was nearly $1000 more than their contracted amount with Cigna Ins. #3 - AOFS billed only Cigna Dental and not Cigna Medical and they were supposed to bill medical first then dental as medical sets the contracted amount and dental pays the remaining (AOFS was given both ins cards at the consultation and it's their job as the insurance's contracted provider to bill 'correctly'). #4 - AOFS never followed up with Cigna thus never reimbursed me - Not for the consultation fee nor the extraction (but what do they care? They had all their money plus more). #5 - May - October 2022 I made multiple calls to Cigna (both medical and dental) and to AOFS Billing over the next several months. I was partially reimbursed in October 2022: $984 overage on extract, $583 dental ins, and the $44 consultation fee. This is only half of what they owe me. **AOFS throughout this entire fiasco made precisely zero effort to help straighten out the billing problem they created.** **AOFS had the EOBs in early August for both Medical and Dental Ins yet would not process my reimbursement without having checks deposited** #6 - August - December 2022 After two Cigna medical checks were cut and sent but never deposited by AOFS I finally had to have a Cigna resolution team member call AOFS Billing: -First Cigna Medical check was cut 8/09 and voided on 10/03 bc it had not been cashed by AOFS. -Second check was cut 10/11 and voided on 11/15 bc it had not been cashed. #7 - A third check cut on 11/22 by Cigna medical to AOFS was finally deposited on 12/14 for $1567 - Between Cigna Dental and Cigna Medical the full contracted amount ($2151.00) was paid to AOFS and deposited. **Nothing was wrong with these checks and all went to the same address - It was AOFS's complete failure to process incoming funds** #8 - January 31, 2023 I Called AOFS billing to have the status on the reimbursement check and I was told that "the ball had been dropped" and no one moved the amount to reimbursement processing (seriously?)! The money was just sitting there since December 14, 2022 with no movement, no processing. Wow!! #9 - Feb 16 2023 - Final reimbursement check received. Based on my experience, I would encourage everyone who is using insurance to stay far away from this group. There are plenty of reputable dental offices providing state of the art care that will properly get prior authorization from the client's insurance company, not charge their clients up front in excess, and wait for insurance to pay them or at the very least charge a portion up front so that both parties have skin in the game and reimbursement is in everyone's interest.

First, I had to pay $500.00 for x-rays that I already was able to provide from another specialist. He said those were not good enough and he had to use his own. When he did make me a splint, it was the exact splint another doctor made me. He never made the night time splint (that would have been another $5000-$6000). When I told him that I could not wear this splint at night because it caused jaw pain, he got upset and said that there had to be something else wrong and that he needed to do another test that would cost $2500. He also said that I would need several surgeries in order for anything to work and that he really could not do anything else until that was done. He could put me in braces again (4th time) and that would cost almost $20,000. This splint was never adjusted appropriately and every time I went in to have an adjustment, it was another charge. They blamed me for not going in often enough. When I did try to schedule an appt., half the time, they were not in the office or did not answer the phone. I was not able to wear this splint during the day for more than an hour at a time without it becoming painful. Any time that I tried to talk to him and tell him how I felt, he got upset. When I finally went back to my first dentist, I explained what happened and this Dr. (Dr. Patel: Craniofacial Pain and Dental Sleep) was able to help me get back on track without gouging me. The splint that Dr. Dierkes made was useless and it cost me more than all the past splints (9) I had put together. Don't waste your time or your money.

Dr. Dierkes was supposed to be a fine orthodontist who could treat TMJ and had over thirty years of…read moreexperience. Unfortunately, my experience was terrible. During the $350 consultation (had been told prior it would be $250, figured the $100 extra was for the splint adjustment which I will get to), he decided I likely had a thyroid problem and was a mouth breather. My primary care physician has not mentioned thyroid issues during my last physicals, and three other orthodontists told me mouth breathing was not a concern. Nevertheless, Dr. Dierkes wanted me tested for both before proceeding. He wanted me on thyroid medicine. My PCP with many years experience should have been the better judge in my opinion. During the consultation (never became a patient), he adjusted a TMJ splint from another orthodontist that was too loose. Oddly, the next day I had a choking sensation in my throat. For two weeks, I thought I had strep, except the sensation did not go away. During this time, figuring I might become a patient of Dr. Dierkes, I kept inquiring about price. After a few weeks, he finally sent an assessment, but no price. Never did receive a price quote. His wife who works with him had told me during my first conversation the cost was not important... Given anyone acquiring braces and orthodontic treatment should know the price, I was concerned, especially when his wife had told me it could cost as much as $20,000. Back to the choking sensation--I went to another TMJ orthodontist after asking, and almost begging, Dr. Dierkes to fix the device since that was the only thing new in my life. Five weeks (since the day after seeing him) had gone by with feeling a choking sensation off and on daily! His wife said he would not help because I was not a patient (once again--no price plan). When the advanced TMJ technician did impressions, two blue blobs were on my back molars. The device had been sliding my jaw backwards. I'd like to add my posture was noticeably worse, which also concerned me since I had neck x-rays one month prior showing neck and posture improvement. Since having the splint adjusted after Dr. Dierkes, I have not felt choked (if it comes back, I will change this review, but I sincerely believe it was the device given the variables). How can an orthodontist with so much experience handling TMJ splints have caused this? And why would anyone sign up to be a patient without knowing the cost of treatment?

I had a tooth extracted at this practice today and can say if I ever need another tooth extracted…read moreagain (hopefully not), this is where I'll be coming. My appointment was set for 1:30, but I was asked to come in an hour early to fill out paperwork and get any X-rays needed. I was met with the sweetest front office representative who made the check in process quick, while answering all my questions. It's not often you checkin for surgery and get someone warm to discuss your insurance. After fifteen minutes of paperwork I was back in the procedure room. Dr. Loetscher began with a consult, just going over my dental history and then explained exactly what he would be doing with photos and diagrams. It's surgery and yet I wasn't a bit nervous because of how thoroughly he explained everything. He noticed I needed my wisdom teeth out as well and offered to do that for me so I could get everything done in one swoop. Extremely kind knowing he probably could have had me schedule that for another time so he could go home since it was the end of the day, yet he fit me in. Right after he placed my IV himself and I was drifting off for the surgery to begin. After an hour, my driver received a call saying I was out of surgery. So quick! I waited about ten minutes for my tooth to be made and then they put it right in. No waiting six months with a giant hole. I look like myself, just now with probably the strongest tooth I'll ever have and a wee bit swollen. They sent me home with concise aftercare instructions and plenty of gauze to keep my wisdom teeth extraction site happy. I cannot say I've ever been to a medical office that's been as clean, efficient, and well run with the best nurses. Everyone was so kind and patient knowing this is something that can be daunting. Truthfully, I'm excited for my post-op check up next week because of how nice everyone was. Best dental/surgical experience I've ever had. I'll be recommending everyone to this office: family, friends and strangers. Do yourself and your teeth a favor and check out Dr. Loetscher. You will not regret it.

Their billing and insurance claim procedures are very misleading. Leading up to the day of my procedure, I was never informed what the procedure would cost. On the day of, I provided my insurance information to the receptionist who told me, "I was covered and to have a seat in the waiting room." She would later deny having told me this, but if she did not say this to me, my next logical question would have been how much is this costing me today? Instead, they waited until after the procedure was done and I was recovering from anesthesia to hand my wife a bill for $7000.00 to extract one tooth and told her that it had to be paid in full today. They would then submit my claim to my insurance company and I was responsible for following up. To no surprise, my insurance barely covered 10% of the cost. I was very surprised by this bill and certainly not prepared to pay it that morning. My wife had to scramble to find the money from various sources as I was still in the recovery area. This is not how health care service should be transacted. I should have been informed of the cost and the insurance claim process prior to my procedure. Then I could have made an informed decision regarding my finances and my health care. I believe they were not up front with the cost because it would have deterred me from getting the procedure that day or I would have at least shopped around for more affordable options. Buyer beware of this unscrupulous practice by some providers to trick you into getting expensive services and leaving the customer to deal with their insurance provider.
