What's the cross street where's a good place to park Coming in by car?

The cross street for our office is Jackson Street. West of Van Ness Avenue there is unmetered street parking with a 2 hour time limit. The same is true east of Polk Street, but the spaces there are usually smaller due to garage spacing.

(I am copying this review from one I left on Jeannie's personal Yelp to make sure it's visible for…read moreAcuGroup, too) Jeannie is a miracle worker! I won't bury the lede - her holistic approach (not just acupuncture) allowed me to get pregnant after a single month of weekly treatment after a few months of trying on our own, at age 39 (!). From our first appointment, I felt that I was in good, capable hands. She has a really well thought out intake process that's much more detailed than what you'd get with other acupuncturists and even functional medicine providers, and she actually acts on the information in the intake form. I have some background in science, nutrition and healthcare and was very impressed with her wealth of knowledge - not just in terms of classical Chinese medicine, but also the most recent integrative Western medicine research to address any concerns and quality of life issues thoughtfully, safely, and effectively. Her intake was very calming and consisted of a back and forth about treatment goals, where in addition to easy to follow advice, she'd recommend additional resources like podcasts or reading if I expressed interest, and she event offered me a device to use for free because she had one at the office. This was followed by a soothing acupuncture session in a darkened, calm room and wave sounds. She has those red lights for your feet or body to make you feel extra cozy during the time the needles are working (which, by the way, are extremely thin and not to be feared - it's a small prick and that's it). Subsequent appointments were also very enjoyable - I felt like I was going to a combination of a spa and true medical guru. Jeannie answered my questions thoroughly and if I had any new concerns come up would readily suggest lifestyle, dietary, or supplement interventions to help, which were effective a number of times, in addition to placing needles at points meant to support whatever was happening. She also has a number of helpful handouts on all sorts of topics. When I first arrived to see her, my nerves were frayed and I was sleeping poorly, and within a few appointments the acupuncture shifted me to a space of more calm and better sleep (it's not my first time with acupuncture, so I knew it'd be helpful for this)... and then I got pregnant! On a personal level, I think Jeannie's warmth and passion for helping, as well as her considerable knowledge base, was a big part of the treatment success. She is truly a gem and has a great sense of humor when you need it, and is very subtle and nurturing - the perfect clinician. She even followed up with me after I sadly had to move far away to make sure that I was getting good care from others. Truly, this was one of the best medical experiences I've had to date (and that's not even counting the incredibly quick pregnancy!); we are so lucky that she still makes the trek to SF for seeing patients. As an aside, the SF AcuGroup office is very easy to get to via public transport, and is always clean and calm. I enjoy seeing all the holistic and Chinese Medicine books on their shelves and the overall pleasant atmosphere.

So why am I not surprised by the unanimity I find among these other reviews? If you are considering acupuncture or zone therapy as a modality to address your needs, or even if you are just in search of healing, somehow, some way, you should make an appointment with Traci and you'll find the answer to that question. Please read what John S. has to say for a catalog of specifics, but what I'll add is that Traci is laser-focused on treating the whole person. That may sound like a contradiction, but Traci consistently goes beyond dealing with specific, narrow conditions (I came to her with post-chemo neuropathy in my hands and feet which we have effectively erased) and insures that every aspect of your health moves in the direction of well-being. I have never felt as healthy, overall, as I do now after seeing Traci for the last seven months. Beyond her treatment and therapy, my experience has been that all the things you read here about Traci being calm, caring, empathetic and uplifting are absolutely true, and have compounded the value of my experience. Finally, I can't resist saying that her location (in the way-cool Mechanics' Institute) is an island of calm . . . a place you feel healing begin just being there. Thank you, Traci!

Dr. Hong told me that the pain was from my L3, 4, and 5 vertebrae, but also said that the MRI didn't show any damage (something about jelly donuts that made absolutely no sense). Ignoring the lack of damage and still saying it was my spine causing the pain. he proceeded to schedule me for a $20,000 injection which included the fentanyl I told him had nearly killed me in a previous epidural. "Yeah, some people get a little sick from the injections," he told me, not mentioning that there are alternatives to fentanyl. Does everyone require a 2 week stay in the ICU after the injections? I doubt it. So after the procedure, a friend walked me home and I went on to an ER at a different hospital to be monitored. Hong did not care that he could have killed me, and did not care that it had happened to me before in another city, another hospital, long before there was a mychart or even internet. He prescribed me tramadol because the injections only gave relief for a couple months. I have hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and tramadol, along with anything ending in -caine literally does not work on us. (Dentists are so fun.) But Dr. Hong proceeded to lecture me about drug abuse when I asked for something that would help, in front of his staff, in front of patients. Yes, I quit crystal meth 30 years ago and never looked back... it only took 3 years of use to ruin my life completely. And it's the opposite of opiates. But he broadcast my history to everyone who could hear him shouting at me in the lobby. I called the St. Francis ombudsman to complain about his violating my HIPAA privacy rights, and Dr. Hong proceeded to get me banned from several pain clinics in the city. (I was advised never to sue a doctor as I would find it hard to get another one. Apparently doctors have their own "blue wall" through the AMA.) 5 years later and 2500 miles east, a knowledgeable doctor also pointed out that there was no injury to my spine. The injury is to my SI joint. Why did Dr. Hong stop at my lumbar vertebrae despite having no injury to them? Was it so he could charge my insurance $20,000 for a lethal injection? It seems likely. If he were a halfway decent doctor, he would have kept looking for the source of my pain, wouldn't he have? According to my friends in the medical field, he absolutely should have realized that my healthy lumbar vertebrae were not the problem, and he absolutely should have realized that my lower back and buttock pain was my damaged SI joint. There's a reason this man is not at UCSF or CPMC. He's a greedy conman posing as a doctor. I can't tell you how thrilled I was when my attorney talked my insurance into only paying 10% of his charge. He shouldn't have gotten that much; it took 6 more years to discover the root of my pain. There was no need for him to nearly kill me. There was no need for my continued suffering. There was no need for him to shout at me, let alone shout at me over my decades-past dependency on something that is as close to the opposite of opiates as you can get, in front of both staff and patients. UCSF took over St. Francis Hospital. I certainly hope they got rid of such a dangerously greedy alleged pain specialist. He ought to lose his license after using fentanyl on me after I told him it nearly killed me in an earlier spinal. Do not put your life in the care of this man. He is evil incarnate, deliberately poisoning people so he can charge them $20k.

I am extremely disappointed by the unprofessional treatment I received. Don't get me wrong,…read moreeveryone was pleasant enough. However, Dr. Hoylong Hong, never offered any assistance in managing my pain. He seemed to surmise that my issue was opiate addiction which I certainly accept because I have been treating chronic pain with prescribed opiates. I had taken the initiative to explore "acupuncture treatment". I was initially excited after the first couple of treatments, my pain returned. Understanding the pressure the federal government is placing on opiate abuse, I was more than willing to explore other options. Just like I had thought of trying "acupuncture", I was hoping that Dr. Hong had other possible alternatives to explore. Instead, he incorrectly emailed my doctor that I had refused Suboxone when he never even mentioned that to me. Then when I returned to explore Suboxone, he failed to simply say that it is a drug to assist withdrawals from opiates. The drug has no properties to treat the post herpetic pain I was suffering for over a decade. Dr. Hong seems like a nice enough person. However, his inability to be direct and straightforward with a college educated near senior patient destroyed any possibility of building a trusting relationship. If the Pain Mgmt Clinic has no possibility of how to help a patient manage pain, what exactly are they in business to do.

I knew PT could help me but I wanted to try acupuncture instead, it just felt like that would be the right move--and boy oh boy, was it ever! It was my first time ever, and Sabine Huey was fantastic: explaining the process and safety steps clearly, making me feel at ease and comfortable. She also described the different approaches between Chinese and Western medicine, in ways that made them beautifully complement one another, focusing on the fundamental premise of whole-patient treatment, not just on symptoms or single-location pains. She started with acupuncture in my right foot (I know), and after just five minutes of that my left shoulder was already feeling better, more flexible, and less painful. Amazing! It really highlighted how everything in our wondrous bodies is connected to everything else. And, the needles were basically painless. After the whole process, which finished with cupping, the pain in my left shoulder was already 70-80% gone. I'm looking forward to the follow-ups to complete the healing process! Lastly, Sabine is an MCU fan. We had so many fun conversations during the process!

From the moment I connected with their team, I felt respected, heard, and truly cared for. As someone who's dealt with debilitating daily migraines for years and panic disorder, I've tried almost everything -- but nothing helped long-term. Dr. Kaveh went above and beyond, spending over an hour with me during our consult and treating me with empathy I've rarely encountered in healthcare. His nurse Kelly and the entire staff were equally amazing. Both procedures (Tuesday and Friday) were done with precision and compassion. The details blew me away -- they called me "Max" on the room board (not "Maxwell"), gave me soft blankets, and welcomed my wife and kids warmly. Best IV placement I've ever had, and I walked out within 45 minutes feeling better than I had in years. He even followed up after each visit personally and helped identify lab issues unrelated to the SGB that I'm now addressing. That level of care is rare. Huge shoutout to Karma and JuJu, the sweetest dogs, who added even more comfort and love to the experience. If you're struggling and looking for answers, Clarus Health is the place to go. By the time I found this clinic on my doctor's referral, my jaw was clicking constantly, I had recurrent headaches, and I was experiencing what felt like jaw dislocation while eating. Miguel and the rest of the staff were incredibly helpful, kind, and thorough throughout the process. Dr Chui's non-invasive approach was exactly what I needed, and I'm thrilled to report that the frequency of my tension headaches has significantly decreased, which was my biggest concern. The included red light panel has also provided neck tension relief that chiropractors and masseuses could never solve, and clicking is far reduced. Before and after CT scans clearly showed how the orthotic opened more space in my jaw joint. That said, there are some things to know going in. First, this treatment is expensive and almost certainly not covered by insurance. Second, expect to be presented with additional procedures like turbinate reduction and be prepared to decline if they don't feel necessary to you. Third and most importantly: my bite changed after treatment, and I wasn't expecting this. The clinic offered bite reconstruction or suggested I see an orthodontist, but also warned me about the orthodontist route since the jaw shift is so specific and a traditional orthodontist might not understand it. I wish the clinic could partner with an orthodontist familiar with TMJ cases, or at least explain this possibility upfront. Finally, I would have appreciated more transparency at the beginning about treatment costs and which procedures would likely be recommended. Despite these frustrations, I'm genuinely grateful I did this treatment rather than waiting and risking surgical intervention. The improvement in my daily quality of life has been significant. Just go in with realistic expectations and clear questions about your individual treatment plan and costs.
