BUYER BEWARE....
We contracted with Legere to design a few rooms in our new house. their fees were a little high however we wanted to support locally and were let down. Their game is to charge you a large fee, but in return they promise that they will give you 30-40% discounts off of their competitive pricing. Not sure how most people interpret that but that would typically mean your prices are the same as others in your market, this was not the case at all as I will explain. First they give you a presentation in their store with a small little pinboard and some 2 inch fabirc swatches and some poorly printed out materials from the internet. If they dont have an item in the store for you to see or feel the quality, i feel its a gamble. So we liked some of the ideas - who wouldnt empty house to fill and decorate... We decided to go to a furniture store one day by chance while passing by and sit in some chairs and see compare. Who would buy something without trying it our or sittingin it? We ended up getting some prices compared for the items Leger was trying to sell us. We couldnt believe it!! They were 30-40% less ! To be fair I called another store in state and received prices that were similar. I spoke to Legere about it and they pretty much said tough luck, I asked their rep we were working with Debra to stop all work. (probably should have cancelled with her when she suggested to put a popcorn maker in our living room!! That went out in the 80's ?) She told me she would discuss with the two owners but they were away and could not be reached. 5-6 weeks later, I received an email, not even a courtesy call to discuss their price gauging on top of a large 'design fee'. I called to discuss on the phone with Steven Troy and Robert Legere and the conversation on their side became very defensive argumentative and down right unprofessional. He told me that I was a 'disgusting customer for checking his price'. I asked how they can sell a light fixture to me for $5500 in their store when warshauer cold sell it for $1500?? I told them that I felt very taken advantage and that since the work is not even 1/4 done we should figure out a way to resolve this since they misrepresented their so called discounting. Troys reply with Robert in background on speaker was, "tough luck, we are a $1.8 Mill co. and have a $3mill show room and a very good attorney so go waste some more of your $! " yes waste more , LOL really ? Their derogatory conversations were now over, I have never experienced such unprofessional people. So yes I had to get an attorney and sent a letter to the BBB and fortunately they agreed to return some of the designer fee.
