At my most recent appointment, scheduled for 10:00 AM, I arrived early at 9:55. More than an hour after my appointment time, I had only received X-rays and polishing and was still waiting for the remainder of my cleaning and exam. Delays can happen in any healthcare setting, but what was frustrating was the lack of communication about how far behind the office was running and how much longer I should expect to wait. This experience was especially difficult because, like many patients, I arrange work and childcare around my appointments. I understand that emergencies and unexpected situations arise, but consistently keeping patients waiting well beyond their scheduled appointment times shows a lack of respect for their time. I was also disappointed by a recent interaction regarding my child. After my child chipped a tooth, I contacted the office because I wanted it evaluated. I felt that my concerns were dismissed and that there was pushback about bringing my child in to be seen. As a parent, when a child has a dental injury, I expect my concerns to be taken seriously and for the office to help determine whether an evaluation is appropriate. The clinical care may be good, but the scheduling, communication, and front-office experience have left me questioning whether I will continue coming here.

When we arrived, it was clear the dentist on duty was overwhelmed and stressed out due to overbooking, that should have been my first red flag. Despite my concerns, we proceeded with the filling because my son needed it. Unfortunately, less than a week later, the filling came out. I immediately called Highland Dental to report the issue, and to my dismay, they told me there was nothing they could do. They refused to redo the filling or even issue a refund, suggesting that I should find a specialist for a baby tooth instead. I requested a refund, but to this day, I have not received anything. I reached out several times, but I never got a call back. This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a dental office. Even though Highland Dental is the closest to my home, I will never return. On a positive note, I found another dental office just a few blocks away that was able to correct the filling without the need for a specialist, and it was more affordable too. I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you're seeking dental care stay far away from Highland Dental.

I finally found a place where I am comfortable & feel like my dental care is in good hands. When I first called to make an appointment, I found the front desk staffer to be so helpful. My questions were answered & I was offered reassurance. Interactions have been pleasant. The office is small with a comfortable little waiting area. Music plays in the background. I haven't found myself waiting for long before my appointment times. During my first appointment, I did find the exam space a little chilly. I appreciate the sunglasses, lip balm, & head rest they offer. I saw Dr Phan. She is friendly & her demeanor put me at ease. She is great at communicating & explaining things. She lets me know what is happening & checks in on how I'm doing. She makes sure to address my questions & it doesn't feel rushed. She offered useful suggestions for at home dental care products. I've found the assistants here to be nice, attentive, & helpful. I briefly interacted with Dr Nguyen & found him to be personable as well. The mister decided to switch from his dentist after my experience. During a confirmation call, there was a 15 minute change in the timing of an appointment because of shifts in their schedule.

My daughter is eleven and I wasn't entirely sure she was ready for this but Doc's bedside manner is so loving and friendly that I feel anyone can come here. Highly recommend.

I immediately stopped going there after my first visit due to the excessive amount of money with hidden fees they charged. I don t recommend that place to anyone I will also warn my personal dentist who is very respectful to stop referring Bandala dental immediately. Respond to Bandala group: Not everyone carries hundreds of dollars in their pockets to pay such big bills, and your office charge an extra 3% for using a credit card, it s call a surprise. Even though I found your service that was done by a trainee by the way very expensive I did not get frustrated, I have been very honest and sent the payment from my HSA account to your office but ...another surprise the payment has been returned without explanation. I checked with my HSA and they confirm that the payment has been refused by your office, I never had any problems before and now you send me a letter treating me to send a collector.

Honestly, I am not sure how aware Dr. Bandala is of the issues I have had as Treycee is the "gatekeeper". She is the receptionist and all email correspondence goes to her as well. But a DDS is responsible for his staff and they are required to provide medical care in a timely manner, to treat patients with respect and include them in their health care diagnoses and treatment plans and to treat them equally-despite their insurance. Unprofessional and petty Business Manager, Treycee, delayed my care and refused to make appointments for preauthorized work despite Dr. orders documented in my chart. Told me, I "was not a priority", "difficult from the beginning" and never missed an opportunity to point out they don't normally accept my insurance (Medi-Cal). She treated me differently than other patients and made it clear she did not like me-felt above me for some odd reason which, again, is related to my insurance. While in office, checking out after a procedure I was stunned when Treycee made a snarky comment to my face about how I'm "getting dental work for free!". So inappropriate! My medical diagnosis was never clearly outlined to me and when Dr. Bandala discovered additional problems, I was not contacted. I only discover when I call in to schedule appointment or follow-up on authorization and it's Treycee, the Business Manager, who relays it to me and only in relation to insurance and them getting paid. She said it is standard operating procedures in their office for her to give medical diagnoses over the phone (although admitted it is not standard procedure for most dental offices) and if you want details, your overall oral health and next steps you have to schedule a consultation with Dr. Bandala. She did not offer me an appointment or explain how much my insurance would be billed for the additional consultation. I had procedures done under sedation but was not given pre-treatment instructions or told I needed a chaperone to escort me home afterwards. Hence, while in the office-in the dental chair- I had to frantically contact family members and see if they could uproot their work day to come pick me up once I'm done. I have decided I'd rather have cavities and need a root canal than go back and be treated by Dr. Bandala-even if I could get an appointment made, which I've been attempting to do since mid-January when Dr. Bandala told me to do so. Treycee has blocked the process despite authorization from my insurance. As a Buddhist with a Master's Degree who has dedicated my life to helping others (hence my "poor person's" insurance) I have always been respectful and kind to Dr. Bandala and his staff when in office and on phone. It is very disappointing to have had such unprofessional treatment. I would not want anyone to experience what I have and recommend you avoid his office at all costs.

I think the only time I've looked forward to a dental appointment was when I was a kid and the dental office had video game machines that I was excited to play in the waiting room. Oh, and they had prizes at the end of your visit for you to choose from too! Fast forward to adulthood and going to the dentist is really something I've never liked doing, especially when my regular dentist and his dental hygienist retired. Then I went several years meeting new dentists and staff as we relocated a few times. Thought we found a good dentist...and then they decided to not take our dental insurance anymore. :( So this is my long-winded explanation why I didn't go to the dentist for about 2-3 years. I don't have perfect teeth and I don't like the stress my body feels when I'm sitting in the chair with sharp instruments poking at my gums. But I finally decided I'd better stop slacking off and to find a dentist so at the very least I could use up the dental cleaning credits that insurance is paying for. ^_^ Looked on the Cigna website for dentists in our area and narrowed down my search to a couple, with Dr. Slate being one of them. Yelp reviews didn't seem too bad either. Decided to ask my orthodontist's office (Dunn Orthodontics is awesome, FYI) if they had recommendations for a good dentist, since I had such an amazing experience with our Invisalign journey. Lo and behold, they gave me 2 names and Dr. Slate was one of them! I took that as a sign that Pure Dentistry was where I should go. Setting up an appointment was convenient. Location was easy to find. Parking wasn't too bad. (Just be aware Rocklin Academy is close by and pick up/drop off time might be tricky getting in and out) Met Rachel, the dental assistant who did a bunch of X-rays and was so sweet, warm and friendly. Then I met Dr. Slate, who is also extremely friendly and likable. Gotta love people who are skilled at their profession but have engaging personalities and are fun to talk to also! He shared a funny story about trying to get a coveted chocolate chip recipe from my orthodontist's wife, which was amusing to envision. Then it was time for my cleaning. Met dental hygienist Victoria and we had some laughs about "6-7" and other kid/teen slang. She was fun to talk to. TBH, the dental cleaning was a bit rough. I guess that's what I get for not going to the dentist for so many years. I could feel myself tensing up while she was scraping away tartar and then checking/poking my gums. Victoria even told me that I might have a bit of a headache later that day because she really went at it. She suggested ibuprofen. I think I kinda laughed it off because I don't usually get headaches. But man...was she right! I did have a bit of a tension headache later that afternoon. Not sure if it was because the idea was planted in my head (psychologically?!) or if it was from the high-pitched cleaning tools (next time I'll bring ear plugs) or if it was from the more-aggressive teeth cleaning. But at least she warned me about it, lol. Victoria also introduced me to Cocofloss. I had heard about it when we were looking into dental flosses a while back but I had never tried it. She gave me a sample and told me they even had different flavored flosses! Long story short, I think about Victoria and Pure Dentistry every night I'm flossing with my Cocofloss now, lol. We even ordered the different flavored Cocofloss, to make flossing a little more fun each night. So then it was time to leave and Victoria walked me up to the front where I met Celine, another super friendly employee! We chatted and then she gave me some cool Pure Dentistry swag! ^_^ They even had a little fridge with cold water and flavored sparkling water for patients also. It's the little things... While I'm still super nervous and reluctant about going to the dentist and my future visits, I can definitely say that Pure Dentistry alleviates a lot of my fears and they have a topnotch staff and a lovely office. They're great at what they do, make you feel like a valued customer/patient, and give you helpful advice for good dental health. (I'll probably schedule a full body massage after each dental visit in the future, so I can create a positive association between dental visits and relaxation, haha!) Highly recommend Pure Dentistry for people like me who are scared of dentists but also know the importance of dental care! You'll love Dr. Slate and his fantastic staff! :D

I had all of my teeth extracted and permanent, custom dentures installed. The whole process was planned and explained first and then, when agreed to, started. They were accommodating of scheduling and needs. The lobby was relaxing, and with a receptionist like this one the normal waiting room anxiety disappears. She was welcoming, helpful, informative, and it felt like we were having a conversation throughout all the paperwork rather than just going through files. All the staff feels like a real team. Sometimes going through other appointments I feel like I am almost being handed off on a conveyor belt system, this felt nothing like that. The thing I appreciate most about Dr. Felahy is his incredible honesty about information and clear knowledge about what actually happens to your teeth. It was the first time I have ever had a dentist ask questions to fully explain and understand what was happening in my mouth, and how that related to other things happening in my life and body. It was the first dentist that seemed to understand that teeth are more than some isolated thing to poke around and clean - they are expressive of habits and lifestyle (and so far beyond just whether or not you floss). I have found my life long friend and dentist for not just me, but my family and friends too. I was faced with a very ugly mouth! The scariest scenario you can imagine. I started April 2018. Dr. Felahy and his team were so assuring and supportive through it all. Yes they did hold my hand. Yes I was scared but that soon subsided quickly. After the whole process which was so fast and really easy (a lot more than I thought it would be) I am no longer scared and I am so happy with my smile. Hesitating that first day walking in. Now I miss them. The entire staff has become my friends and confidants. If you have any question on is this place for me? It is. He is a fair and honest person. One thing I love about Dr. Volki and his staff is they are so considerate they will do everything they can to help you even if uninsured. Which by the way he gives a a discount for cash! I could also tell you how comfortable they make you feel massaging chairs, smiling staff, supportive and just all around a great group of people. Make sure to make this your first and last dentist you ever need to find. I live a little ways away, but that's ok! I'd drive hours just to be in that office with Dr. Volki Felahy and his team.
