Upon just starting Dr. Crandall's services & being given an apparatus to wear (at night only) to restructure my jaw-line, it fell apart and I awoke to two pieces of plastic in my mouth as opposed to the 'one piece' I started with. It was unsettling to say the least, as one part was as small as a lump of sugar and could have been swallowed easily. When I spoke to Dr. Crandall about my concern, his response was, " Well, I've been using this apparatus for over 20 years and no one has swallowed one yet." He showed little to no concern, just an enormous 'defense' to this uncomfortably frail piece of plastic he used. He truly couldn't have been any ruder. I was informed by their staff that this has happened with other patients, but "no one swallowed one". This was about as comforting as "broken glass". The admin was quite empathic, but couldn't go much further than the 'truth'. We were appreciative of their support, but want to let people know that when a medical professional 'backs out the back door' when there is a significant problem ... 'move on'.

I recently moved to Pittsburgh, and so I had not yet established health care providers in the area…read more However, I felt a cold sore coming on one morning, and my usual routine out in Denver was to immediately call up my dentist and schedule an immediate appt for a laser treatment. (If you get cold sores and have never tried this, it works like nothing else ever will! And it's only $80--about $6 for every day you won't have that cold sore now). However, very few dentists offer this treatment in the Pittsburgh area, and being a new patient, I knew it would be hard to get in for a last minute appt. After trying to get in with Dr. Barber, who I found through a google search, a staff member recommended Dr. Crandall, stating that he was also innovative and might offer the treatment. And yes, he does! Dr. Crandall's staff was awesome! The woman answering the phone, Babs, was incredibly helpful and got me in ASAP. She even called back to tell me there had been a cancellation if I wanted to come even earlier. I was so grateful as the treatment is not as effective after the sore has swelled (about 12-18 hours). I haven't gone here regularly, but the treatment I received as a new and demanding client (demanding in that I needed an appt that day ASAP) was fabulous. If I decide to stay in Pittsburgh, I will be making Dr. Crandall my dentist!

I've been self employed now fir over 35 years with two businesses. Restaurants and a painting…read morecompany with over 200 employees. Both my businesses work heavily on referrals . I ALWAYS give something back to the people that give me one whether it's a desert or 5% on a painting job . I NEVER would charge to go give an estimate on a painting job nor would I charge a person more to come eat at my restaurant that came because of a referral. It would be absolutely ridiculous and embarrassing for the person giving the referral and I would be embarrassed to charge Well that's not the case for Dr Stypula . I received a referral from my dentist to go see him for me receding gum line . Now I talked to the secretary twice before my visit to get information and time . Never once was I told I had to pay anything. I went to see him which took about 45 minutes and the work was going to take 4 trips at about 2500 a trip which was fine . When I went to leave the secretary said that it would be 75 dollars and I told her I wasn't happy and she said O I Didn't tell you ?? No you didn't . So I asked if my dentist knew that they were charging for referrals and she said yes . I paid it and went to me car and called . Not only did they not know that they were charging they were pretty upset . I called Dr Stypula right back and gave them two choices . One to stop the charge or I will dispute it . The secretary said I would get a check which I just received today . Not only did they not apologize for the so called misunderstanding they sent a letter stating that they are deleting all treatment plans and we will not schedule any future appointments. Boy what a nice practice to first of all charge for a referral than not apologize than tell a 10 thousand dollar client to get lost :) I was not planning on going anyways and I never write bad reviews . I just write good ones or I just don't go back . These people are clueless on what it takes to be in business in today's world and in my opinion Dr Stypula is one step from a nursing home . He was very slow in his speech and couldn't really answer some questions that I had concerns of . I've talked to my dentist last week and they are no longer referring this practice and all I will say is make your own decision.
