Before taking to the elevators up to Suite 300, you will be expected to present a photo ID and sign in at the front desk in the lobby. During your first visit, the office admin will have you fill out the standard staffing agency paperwork, e.g. consent forms, W4, HIPAA, employer referrals, after which you probably have to wait in one of the chairs placed along the wall. Years ago, computerized skills testing was also administered here, but now candidates can take the battery of tests online. Candidates pay nothing to use Robert Half's services, as the employers are the paying customers. The recruiters here are understandably very busy, so even if you have an appointment and no other candidates are in line before you, don't expect to be seen immediately. Consider bringing your own reading material or using the downtime to use the restrooms in the hallway outside the suite. I encourage first-time applicants looking to get their feet wet to apply with one of RH's placement services, but also to keep an open mind and to make an effort to understand how staffing agencies work. The true clients of staffing agencies are not the job applicants like you and me but rather the companies that pay the staffing agencies to fill open positions. Matching a qualified candidate to a job opening for the client is the primary service of staffing agencies; providing work for the unemployed is only a secondary consideration. For this reason, no staffing agencies can ever guarantee employment to any candidate. That being said, RH is responsible not only for securing me my first temp job out of college, but also for placing me in a full-time permanent position years later. Jessica Charne (VP of Permanent Placement- NJ) did a terrible job at gaining potential employment opportunities. We communicated a bunch of times and seemed very friendly but also claimed to have 21 years with Robert Half. So 21 years experience, but only got 2 job potentials in 1 month? Umm...ok? I interviewed with 1 company in which I felt very strong about. However, was asked to wait 1 month until they could hire me. They refused to sign a letter of acknowledgement or offer letter to wait out that time. Jessica didn't make me aware of that either. I don't like how they immediately want to change everything--take away your cover letter, change the resume so it has Robert Half as the letter head (change fonts, formatting, phrasing, etc.) Just a totally unprofessional experience and I think RH is a joke. I applied to Robert Half over a month ago and they reached out to me to get me to come in for an interview. I've done everything they have asked me to, filled out all of the online forms and everything. They said that they would keep in contact with me when a job comes up but they don't know the when. So I was like okay that's fine. Two weeks passed, no one emailed me or kept in contact with me. I took it upon myself to email one of the three guys who helped me through my interview processes -- no response. The next week, I emailed the guy who had interviewed me himself personally -- no response. Okay... So I called, personally, and the receptionist put me through with someone, I didn't quite get his name. But he didn't ask my name or anything he just kind of knew who I was and said "oh you just graduated from such and such last year and such." Basically everything he said were all the right facts about me. He told me that there should be a job offering for me in Edison, which is near my area. But he said he would need it to be confirmed before he set me up in the next step. Before we got off the phone, he said he would email me about the job description and to hold on tight because he would call me within the next week. Guess what? Nothing. No email. No call. No nothing. So I called back again in a week, the receptionist put me through the recruiters' extension line, I assume, and I went to voicemail. I guess they know my number now to avoid me. I left a message and no one has gotten back to me. Anyways, this is very unprofessional of Robert Half. They try to claim to be working on finding me my first job, which I can understand that it might take longer than expected. But I would at least call to give my customer/potential employee an update.. Or something! All of my emails were ignored along with my phone call. I am beyond disappointed with this agency and will no longer seek for help from them. All I ask if to return my calls but it's very upsetting how I am ignored like this. I've also read online that a lot of people are angry at the fact that these recruiters want to get your name on their list of "helping people find a job" in order to get a certain amount to reach their goals. read more

The Creative Group assigned me to 2 contracts over a couple of years. I have been consulting for 6 years and have never received such terrible service as I have from TCG. The trouble started with the second contract TCG assigned me to.They assigned me to a company with a very dysfunctional and verbally abusive atmosphere. Employees would break down in tears every day. There was a woman with cancer who was afraid to leave to get her cancer surgery. It was a subhumanly bad psychodrama. When I called to ask for help from my recruiter I was verbally abused by Tracy Emken the TCG recruiter handling the account and head of the Woodbridge location. I found out later that Tracy was personal friends with the woman at the company who was verbally abusing me. I also found out that when they had me fill out the paperwork they tricked me and had me pre-fill a form. They placed whatever they wanted above my signature. This is illegal, but I had no way of proving it other than my word. I was told that I had a 3 month temp to hire contract. I later find out that TCG they falsified the paperwork and I never had a 3 month temp to hire. I had an open-ended contract with probably no hire. When I questioned this I was verbally abused for 45 minutes. If you sign up with these guys DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING in advance. The company they placed me with eventually ended my contract in a way similar to how a sorority house would haze someone and TCG empowered it and took part in the "game". I was locked outside in 10 degree weather when I went out on break and then my recruiter called me telling me that I was not allowed to get my things as if I were a criminal or a low-paid temp. I'm a highly-paid professional. The standard in this industry is that you inform us we are going to have or contract end and give us time to pack up. Even though it was of the utmost importance that I return my laptop to TCG the next morning, Tracy prevented me from getting my personal belongings for over 2 weeks. I was at the point where I was concerned that I may have to get the police involved. Then Tracy took my things to her office an hour south of the Woodbridge location. It was clearly of no concern to her that I get my things back at all. When I did get my things back personal items were missing. Notes I took of the verbal abuse (of course) were gone. My personal notebook was gone. I wouldn't recommend TCG to my worst enemy. I am not sure how these TCG recruiters (and especially Tracy Emken) can sleep at night given that they are so unethical in how they do business. read more

Not a single recruiter I spoke to here ever followed up with me about positions they said they were submitting me for- even after emails and phone calls. Maybe they need an extensive training program on how to keep their candidates in the loop!!!!!!!!!! It's terrible, these are people's lives you're dealing with! Never again! read more

Back in May 2016, after seeing my first complaint here, Robert Half promised that my name will be removed from their lists. In the previous update in Aug 2016, you will see that I was still getting emails. That never stopped. Today, 4/21/2017, I got a call from a Robert Half recruiter about a new job opening. Conclusion? You need to weigh the pros and cons before using Robert Half. They might indeed land you in a job, which understandably is probably the most important thing. However, you should know before going in that YOU WILL BE SPAMMED, by both email and phone, FOR MANY YEARS TO COME! read more

I was currently having problems with The Creative Group in Saddle Brook, so I decided to contact the one in Woodbridge in hopes that I would get a different experience....NOPE! I think I only heard from Kristen once or twice and after that, I pretty much never heard from her (eg. My experience with TCG (Woodbridge Office) has been pretty good thus far. My recruiter (Heather Rae Stafford) was a real pleasure to deal with. She was very sweet and understood exactly what I was looking for. It only took her about a month to place me in a temp to perm position. Of course including all the interviews in between. I was actually impressed considering all the bad reps recruiters get these days. I understand the frustration people are having with TCG. Unfortunately not all offices are created equally. The experience I had in the Paramus office wasn't that great and I'm glad Heather Rae came to the rescue. I guess my advice to someone who's just dealing with TCG for the first time is too make sure the recruiter understands what you're looking for. It'll be a huge time saver for both parties. I would definitely use the Woodbridge office again. read more
