I graduated class of 2016, passed the bar the first time, and landed a post-grad fellowship with a prestigious organization. However, my year long fellowship was almost up and I have yet to land an associate position for afterwards. Luckily, my friend connected me to Ms. Didi Gooch. Ms. Gooch was amazing from the get go. Our first conversation lasted for 30 mins and she gave me great tips and tricks on how to navigate the job market as a new associate freshly out of law school. I wasn't even associated with the agency or anything but she nonetheless took the time and effort to talk to me! After talking to her, I ended up forwarding my resume to her and we had an initial "official" meeting about what I was looking for and my past job experiences. At that point, I figured that a temp contract job would be a better option than being unemployed after my fellowship ends. So I kept that option open. Within weeks, Ms. Gooch reached out to me about a position with a VERY large legal organization that would have added a heavily recognized name on my resume and set me up an interview with them. I went in for the interview but I ended up accepting a permanent, full-time associate position at a good firm the day after so I had to withdraw my name for consideration. Nonetheless, I highly believe it's a good idea for new grads (i.e. class of 2017), post-bar takers, and newly barred associates, who have yet to land an associate position, to do this type of temp-work as opposed to having a gap on your resume. This way you could make connections/network with lawyers and firms while simultaneously adding to your skill experiences. Who knows? Maybe they'll like your work well enough to hire you or connect you to someone who is hiring. Finally, I definitely recommend reaching out to Ms. Didi Gooch. She was amazing, knowledgeable, and took the time to communicate with me. I could tell she genuinely wanted to help me out and was really trying to get me an opportunity. Due to the dot-com bubble burst, I've had to work with a lot of temp agencies over the years. Out of all the temp or temp-to-hire placement agencies, Accountemps was and is by far the one that has left me with the most seething, oozing animosity; and, to paraphrase Johnny Rotten, the feeling of being cheated. No doubt about it, I was screwed over. Here's how. I signed up for their job placement services, and was immediately offered an assignment in the valley with a mortgage/financial company by the name of "Countrywide" (yeah, THAT Countrywide). The job hours would be from six in the evening until two or so in the morning. After two weeks of training in the art of checking mortgages for any improper filings or papers, I began officially processing Countrywide's seeming never-ending stream of ARMS, Balloon, GPM, and other so-called "toxic" loans, that were purchased from various financial companies to be sold off in packages in the form of "investments." For a couple of months, I did this six days a week, seeing my wife only one day a week. Then came the kicker that changed everything. At the end of our shift (two in the morning), the supervisor informed my associates and I that there was mandatory "voluntary" (meaning unpaid) overtime starting the next day at five. Five in the morning, that is. Since most of us lived in Los Angeles, their suggestion in regard to sleep was to "Sleep in our cars" and they would come wake us up. They couldn't rack up workplace violations faster. Now, according to all the paperwork, orientation and discussions with my Accountemps agent, if we/I was asked to do any functions that was ethically, or lawfully wrong, that I was not to do it, and report the violation to her. Being that it was Saturday Night/Sunday Morning in the AM, calling the office would probably not do any good. So, I waited until Monday morning to report the violation. The Accountemps Rep told me, in no uncertain terms, that not only should I have called at two in the morning, *BUT* I should have also worked the overtime. She then told me that because of my actions with a "very important client," Accountemps would not place me anywhere else, and no other temp agency in Los Angeles would place me either, and hung up. A short time later, Countrywide was sued (and lost) for their unpaid mandatory overtime practices. I don't have to go into their history of nearly destroying the economy. And what of Accountemps? Frankly, any agency that would look the other way on blatant and illegal violations because the client is "important" is not to be trusted. If you need to sign up with an employment agency, look elsewhere. read more

They suck! I do have a job already but for the summer I was comtemplating whether I wanted to attend classes or get another job. I signed up with them way back last year in November after reading about them in my university's newspaper about temp work for students. I didn't officially apply for a job until the summer think it would be easier because of job openings. I did a resume and applied for some jobs never to ever get a response. These were simple minded jobs like mailroom...whoa I don't need much experience for that or clerical stuff like answering the phone...I think monkeys can do that but I never got a response. I have to agree with the other review. It appears relatively consistent with the lack of validating parking among large legal placement agencies. But definitely Robert Half lacks finesse in communicating jobs. They interview but I didn't receive any offers after 2 different interviews I had in their office. The one time I was called for an interview for a position, they failed to call me back so that I could finish the interview. Last week Tuesday I spent hours emailing Janet Acevedo (Director), another manager (Jennifer) and the office manager (Alicia) as well as leaving voice mails for all of them regarding my paycheck that was not approved for excessive overtime. Luckily I had a girl who unfortunately was put in front of the line of fire by them, didn't allow me to talk to Alicia, nor Janet, but she was very patient and cordial with me, and kept apologizing for me not receiving my paycheck on time. This recurring problem occurred again back in mid-September. I finally got my paycheck or hours approved and I forwarded that approval email to all 3 and said that this is all I was concerned about, that I get a confirmation and that someone just had to approve it rather than wait 3 to 6 days after I fax over my time sheet but still get an email reminder from them saying that they never received my time sheet, yet payroll received it, just that the branch never bothered to approve my overtime hours. So Janet emails me back not even paying attention to what I wrote, and she did it before last week Monday too, but she misread what I wrote again. So I told her and all of them that they lack interpersonal skills, can't get back to me, or refuse to get back to me when the client that I worked for, who requested me back time and time again, twice a year, and who recently gave me a significant raise at their own discretion without me even asking for one, pays them for the excessive hours that I work, yet they refuse to approve it and so they play this game of who will approve it. She finally calls but I was busy on an important call at the time and she wrote an email to me saying that we need to talk, but that it should not be done through email. Translation: She refuses to have any written record that may be used against them. Of course this was all suggested by my attorney. In my email I stated how it was only hours that were owed to me that I had a problem with, but this has been an ongoing problem since February 2008 and happens 4 times a year at the least. I also said how no one ever apologized for this consistent problem but everyone always seems to be clueless of the nature and cannot understand how this works, to which even payroll couldn't believe that they didn't know that they were responsible for approving my excessive overtime. I told Janet Acevedo that she shouldn't be arguing each and every point in my email, but rather if they respond, to respond with an apology, not make excuses for something that is owed to me but was not. What she did not like was me pointing out how since 2008 this same client requests that I come back, that I have done everything what the client demanded which meant, working 66.5 hours in 6 days during the week prior to October 15th, as well as 16 - 18 hour days. Last year it was 21 hours in between 14 and 15 hour work days. That the client decided to give me a salary increase. I never asked for one. They've given me not one but two increases since 2008. She did not like the idea that I spoke out about the problems, but rather preferred someone more complacent and quiet, less demanding of their paycheck being received on time, even if it meant that I go through this only 4 times a year every year. read more

My experience with Office Team has been awesome! I had originally signed up with 4 other temp agencies at the same time in hopes of getting placed. Unfortunately, neither one of those temp agencies placed me in a temp assignments in the 3 months I was with them. I called everyday as the norm, but nothing from them. Feeling disappointed, I signed up with Office Team in downtown L.A. and they placed me the next day at an assignment. I kept getting other temp assignments and the latest one led to my current full time position at one of the top firms in the world. Ask for Samantha and Janet - they are great! These ladies were attentive and I have not had any problems. Oh, btw: I have to say that before signing up with this Office Team, I read the reviews and almost did not sign up. Luckily for me, I did sign up with them and I'm glad I did. I referred my friends who are unemployed to sign up here as opposed to the other temp agencies. Update (7/30/13) - Wanted to add that after a certain amount of time with Office Team, you get bonus pay - a whole week's pay. This is not a myth. Again, I'm not paid to write this review. As a graduate fresh out of college finding an entry level job in accounting was an obstacle I faced. A friend recommended I try an agency, but in my perfect little world I thought I could find a job on my own. I was stubborn about trying Accountemps until one day they were at Meet The Firms at CSULA. I decided to walk over to their booth to get some information. That was the push I needed to to finally schedule an appointment with them. When I went in to meet with my recruiter I took a series of test (they send the test via email so you can take them at home before your appointment) which took 2 hours. After the test I finally met with my recruiter (Shezad) who went over my test scores, resume, experience & availability. A week after my appointment I was contacted by Shezad about a one week placement. I wasn't thrilled about the placement, but I took it anyway. I was a bit nervous about my first day but it went extremely well. Everyone was nice & I liked the work environment. They also decided to keep me longer than the week that was originally planned. Currently, I'm still working with the same company Shezad placed me & they're making me permanent on Feb 1st. I'm extremely happy I took the offer. I should have done my research, but I was unaware of Robert Half Technology until a few weeks ago when I was contact for an IT opportunity. Granted, earlier this year I had signed up with Robert Half International, but had not luck with any opportunities. To start from the beginning, I was contacted by a recruiter, Leigha, regarding an opportunity. We exchanged a few e-mails, spoke on the phone and secured the opportunity within a couple of days. Leigha has been amazing -she is very professional, courteous, available to address any concerns and makes the effort to check-in. She was flexible with my work schedule and made sure I was comfortable with the position before arranging the in-person interview. Leigha and her team definitely made me feel comfortable with the position by making sure I was committed and can develop into the position instead of just trying to find someone to fill in a position. If ever I am in need of assistance from an employment agency, I will absolutely re-connect and seek from the technology division of Robert Half International. read more

A recruiter from this office called me (Chelsea Cua) for a direct hire position. My experience over several calls and email exchanges since has not been pleasant. I found her to be rude and unprofessional. Chelsea has been very invasive and one sided in her line of questions. She tried to lowball me from the start and was very nosy asking where else I'm interviewing (none of her business) and my current salary (illegal to ask in CA as of Jan 2018) among a bunch of other unprofessional and non-standard questions. She wanted me to disclose a ton of information before even sending me the job description. She went on a tangent about how the culture and attire at the clients office is "casual" then follows that up with an email telling me I'd need to dress in a "suit and tie" Then she made a big deal about how if I was chosen they'd pay for my parking in DTLA, as if I should be so excited. I really couldnt care less, free parking is a standard expectation, not an amazing employee perk. She asked for a list of companies in LA I'd be interested in working for because her and her firm "have so many relationships" with companies in the area. I sent the list and asked repeatedly via email if she had any relationships with contacts at those companies. Never heard back on this question to this day. Nearly all my questions were ignored, and while I'm trying to keep an open mind I'm definitely not happy with this recruiter and doubtful about the job itself from the reviews on Glassdoor I've seen. When the client saw my resume and confirmed they were interested in interviewing me, she sends me an email instructing me to park in the Smart & Final parking lot and buy some water or gum to avoid paying for parking...how ghetto and unprofessional! And when I called her out on that BS and asked why they cant just reimburse candidates to park in the structure I got another BS answer. This being right after they gloated about the client PAYING FOR PARKING... The most unprofessional recruiter I've ever worked with. Lies and manipulation. Kick rocks! Every negative stereotypical thing you would expect from a sleazy 3rd party recruiter. I am very tempted to share screenshots of that email telling me to park illegally with LA City parking enforcement and that Smart and Final manager. read more

Let me just say that I have been unemployed since May, and have since applied to about a 100 job postings. Randomly, I would freak out and apply everywhere since unemployment compensation is for a much shorter period now compared to a few years ago. I decided to give it a try and apply with RobertHalf on a Sunday night. On Monday morning, I was contacted by Erica DiNardo for an interview the following day. The next morning, I was contacted by Shezad Allaudin to come in a bit earlier as they had already found me an opportunity and the company wanted to interview me at 1:00 pm. Obviously, I gladly agreed. Oh and I got the job and started on Wednesday!! The experience at the RobertHalf was short and sweet. I read some of the older comments about Shezad being rude or disrespectful but I have to disagree. He is a straight-to-the-point kind of guy and you can tell he is really good at what he does. After moving back to the Los Angeles area from another state, I was having a hard time finding employment. After sending out hundreds of resumes and completing countless online applications, I decided to try an employment agency. A good friend recommended Office Team since she had used them to obtain her current job where she has been over 4 years. I was nervous as this was my first time using an employment agency, however I can honestly say I am very glad I went with Office Team. I met with one of the recruiters and was told I would be contacted if an assignment came in that was a fit for me. Two days after the interview I began to receive assignments. I was placed at several short and long assigments consistently. I wish I would have known about Office Team sooner. It was a great help as I was starting off in a new city. This review is based off my experience with Office Team Downtown Los Angeles. Every single time I have a question or concern regarding my assignment, the team gets back to me quickly and is very kind and understanding. I work with Janet, Sybil, Darlene and Melanie. They are all very professional and helpful and I am very grateful that I work with such a great group of ladies. I have read reviews about recruiters being rude or ignoring contacts, this has never been the case with the team I work with. I believe that temping is a great way to find employment. You get to try different work environments and experience working for a company prior to signing a permanent commitment. The company sees if you are a fit, and you get to see if the company is a fit for you. With the amount of time a week we spend at work, I believe it is extremely important that we are in a place where we thrive and mesh well with the company culture. I have read a lot of negative things about employment agencies, however being a temporary employee with Office Team completely changed my outlook on "temp work". Ignored, neglected, dismissed and insulted are only a few adjectives that accurately summarize my experience. I was contacted by a Robert Half recruiter in June 2018, while I was eagerly embarking on my search for an entry level legal position. I subsequently signed with the agency the same month. During my initial interview I informed the recruiter I had extensive experience in another jurisdiction and was in the process of transitioning. He seemed impressed with my legal knowledge and attentive during the conversation. I informed him that I was interested in gaining experience at an entry level and I would put in the time and effort required. My recruiter reassured me that we would together to find a suitable position. This was the last positive comment I received. Over the proceeding months I would call and email to inquire about positions I saw posted on various job boards. My emails regarding the positions were ignored. In September after months of frustration I emailed to follow up again after my calls were never returned. In his reply to my email the recruiter informed me "We don't work for you!" I explained to the recruiter I didn't expect him to work for me but with me and he had not replied to any of the job positing emails I forwarded. I added that I was seeking guidance in my search and felt abandoned. I am still job hunting today. I am pretty much scarred from my experience with this employment agency. read more

I have no idea how this location has so many good reviews. The placement agents must be posting them. This is the worst temp agency on the planet, especially this branch. They treat their temps horribly and will bad mouth their temps to places they have placed them out. And they rip off their temps. I was placed at a location where they were charging the client $60/hour and I was only getting $20! And when I asked for more money, they said the client wasn't willing to pay even though I knew they were. Really horrible! Go to Apple One if you have to place. read more

I had the best experience possible with Office Team. After a few months of unsuccessfully looking for a job after moving to the area, I decided to submit my resume to a temp agency or two. The first one told me not to waste my time, as they did not work with people looking for entry level positions. I submitted my resume to Office Team after seeing a job posting, and then forgot about it when I didn't hear back after a couple of weeks. A month after first submitting my resume I got a phone call from a staffer (Melanie) at Office Team who invited me to take some assessments and come in for an interview the next day. Melanie is incredibly friendly, and dedicated to working with talented people who simply need help finding their way. On Friday I met with Melanie and we both felt like it was a great match to work together. Not only did Melanie commit to helping me, she also brought in her whole team to meet me and help me find jobs that were a good fit. By the next MONDAY (3 days later!!!) I had an interview at an amazing company, with an incredible office and huge future opportunity. I started with them on Tuesday! I am now permanently employed with that company. The recruiter I worked with, Leigha May, has since left Robert Half. I wound up getting signed on as a full-time employee for the company that they introduced me to (so I too have left Robert Half) and I am very grateful to RH for this position. However, after Leigha left the company I've had little communication with RH. When I have communicated with them it has been over problems with payment or employment, whereas Leigha would contact me just to check in and solve problems before they occurred.
