I received an email from a recruiter named Emma Franck about HR customer service or admin roles. I sent my resume, but during our call a few hours later, it was obvious she hadn't reviewed it. She then said I wouldn't qualify for an HR job--despite mentioning it herself initially. Her tone was rude and dismissive, saying things like, 'Why would you think you're qualified for HR? I've spoken to a lot of HR professionals.' I told her I didn't appreciate her approach and that we didn't seem like a good fit. She insisted on reviewing HR job descriptions with me, so I agreed. When I mentioned my transferable skills, she kept putting words in my mouth instead of listening. Then she abruptly asked, 'Have you ever hired or fired someone?' As I began to explain that I had, she hung up mid-conversation. Seriously?! Unprofessional and unpleasant--I wouldn't recommend working with this recruiter. read more

July 2019 - Carlsbad office - Initially there was a rah-rah attitude of "yes, we have jobs and a couple you look like a fit for," The two women I encountered did not follow up however. I had to call them, remind of them of WHY I was calling. I was told to look for emails from them which I did not receive. I am a professional who is qualified for jobs above what I was looking for at the time. I only wanted to get my foot back in the door to start working in the area again. Even a temp job was fine. I interview and present well. I was very surprised at the lack of a job to be sent on for an employer interview and the lack professional behavior of this office. This is a staffing agency that helps people find employment positions. Prior to covid they were very active and responsive. When you call the Carlsbad office, no one ever seems to answer or return calls. This time around I was contacted by Kelsey Miles a recruiter at the Carlsbad office mentioning they had a position and I had matching qualifications. At the time I was looking for work and she was really great to work with. Over the next few weeks she became less responsive to phone calls or emails. When she did call and say she had another position to submit me for, I would then wait days and sometimes weeks to still not receive a response from her. Any job I was submitted for seem to either fall through or the employer was no longer being responsive. But Kelsey would fail to reach out advising me of the news. She then went on to tell me that I need to search for jobs on my own. But just weeks prior she was very adamant that I let her know when I go on interviews that I have sought out on my own. I don't understand why I needed to give that courtesy when she couldn't even give me the courtesy to let me know a job would not be moving forward with a job search. I believe RH needs to select recruiters who are communicative, more caring and understandable and not give people the run around with jobs. I understand employers change their mind, but I don't feel like she was ever on top of things when it came to me and I can only imagine how many others are receiving this treatment from her. read more

I'm not the type of person that gets deterred by negative reviews when there are positive reviews in the mix, so I decided to give OT a chance. Initially, the process was very professional. I scheduled an interview with Sam via Skype. Although there were some technical issues on my end, she was prompt to contact me so we could fix the issue and do the interview. She then told me that she had an opportunity for me and would contact me on Monday with more details. She did not contact me for some time, and then Maggie contacted me probably a week later with job opportunities. I was busy each time she called me, so we had to engage in some good ol' phone tag. I almost got through to her when the person who answered my call (I don't remember his name) told me that I should be contacting Sam and not Maggie. So I contacted Sam and left her a message. She called me back, and I talked to her about the job offer status. Again, she told me she would get back to me on Monday with more details. Weeks and weeks and weeks passed without anyone contacting me. By then, I got a new job. So I requested to be removed from OT. Not the best experience. I felt like I didn't exist. read more

I took all of their exams and did a good job even though I never took a course for them. Even so, I have still not heard anything from them in months. I have nothing but a good track record. It is very sad that all of their clients missed out on a candidate like me. I feel that their HR team could do a much better job of supporting candidates like me. Thanks to my own efforts, however, I have found my desired job working for a great company. Note to the Office Team HR staff: Prior work experience doing a certain job is something that is overemphasized. Just because someone has work experience doing something, this does not mean that they will produce better results in the short or long-term. Other determining factors that can show a person's level of commitment and ability to adapt can include their school grades, their degree program, or the fact that they have adapted to various professions from their proven work history and or schooling experiences. Also, when someone has prior work experience doing a certain job, this only means that they have knowledge of how another organization operates with that position. It is well known that each and every organization has their own way of doing things. Therefore, regardless of the fact that someone has experience, they will still need to be retrained. read more

I've never worked with a temp agency before so I had no idea what to expect, but I recently moved to the San Diego Area from the East Coast so I was overwhelmed and decided to try Office Team/Robert Half Staffing out. I couldn't have had a better experience; Danielle and Maggie were very professional, friendly, helpful and most importantly, excellent at following up. Within a month, I began my now current, full time assignment (I was hired on after 5 months). It was a bit of a longer "temp time" process than I had initially expected (I had heard 90 days), but it was worth it and definitely a good decision to stay. Maggie and Danielle checked in with me almost every week, worked closely with my boss and were able to communicate feedback and constructive criticism from both sides. I would definitely recommend them for anyone trying to get their foot in the door with a job and they definitely have connections that no one else would be able to find on their own. I am applied and got an interview with Maggie with the premise that they had two or three jobs waiting for me. I interviewed and gave them the best of me and felt like the interview was spot on. I didn't hear back from them. I called them twice and they told me they were trying to work things out with some openings. Five months later...nothing. They made me waste my time and they really lift peoples spirits only to let them down. They are the reason why I don't like working for agencies. read more

Danielle and Maggie are great. First meeting went well and even though I was only looking for part time work, they were able to finally find me something perfect (took several weeks until my availability due to classes changed). The thing with staffing agencies is that you have to check in regularly or else you may be overlooked. The other thing about staffing agencies is that quite often even when you DO call in, they still blow you off and never get back to you (like just telling you to go look at their website. What kinda service is that? Even for the offices they serve too!). This is where this Office Team was different. Personal and genuine. Had to take a skills test for a potential job offer and the communication between the office staff was a joke. I was scheduled for 30 minutes, when I arrived for the test the receptionist told me that I could finish up at home. Needless to say I asked if I could take the "online" test at home and they said of course! I applied for an Accounting position and they gave me a medical terminology skills test. I think Office Team was awesome. I signed with them in March and had an interview a week later. They found me two assignments, one in April (a one-day assignment) and then another in May (a long-term assignment that I am currently have). Eric, a staff manager, check-in with me every month to see how I am and how is the assignment going. I recommend that you call him because he contact you back quickly through the phone or email. He is very professional, upfront, and keep you up-to-date with new job information. The job market is slow and it's hard to find a job out there. OfficeTeam is the bomb!!! A few months ago I left my job in education to change my career path to HR with no experience or credentials to back it up. They were straight with me and said my experience would be better suited for administrative assistant or customer service positions - I knew that wouldn't hurt and I could get my foot in the door somewhere as a result. After the interview process, they got me out on a job THE SAME DAY!! I asked them if that happens often, and they said not always, but every so often it does. I joined Robert Half in Sept. 2016. Brynna contacted me within a couple of days of me applying. She was very nice and made me feel comfortable right away. After my interview process I got a call from Krista and she informed me that she would be the person working with me in trying to place me. Krista has been amazing! She is excellent at her job. She found me a job within days of our initial call. I was employed within a week of my first contact with Robert Half. I was told on a Monday evening that my temporary position, that started in Sept. 2016, was going to end on Friday. By Wednesday Krista had an interview scheduled form me.
