"Marva" at the Brookfield location (on Greenfield Ave) was wonderful. I had some old gold and silver to sell... and she was friendly, funny and took the stress out of the whole situation. I had gone to two other local jewelers and got quoted a price for the gold... but Robert Haack Jewelers beat both of the other "offers" by a huge amount which surprised me. Marva has years of experience in the jewelry business... and was a sweetheart. The experiences I have are so inconsistent and back and forth. The first time I went thinking I could get the $20 promise if I could find a better offer somewhere else, which didn't happen. Instead they made up some excuse. Then a cpl times I went in to sell and was satisfied with the offers... And of course a few times I was very unsatisfied bordering on feeling like I'm just being ripped off. The only thing that's consistent is that they were always extremely friendly. I actually started feeling like I made some friends there. Just gab friends, not close friends that offer you special treatment, but still nice ladies. And honestly once when the price they'd be able to offer was extremely ridiculous and 'unfair' Leslie whom I've come to like and have a decent respect for kinda shook her head warning me away, letting me know it really wouldn't be worth it, and telling me honestly she wouldn't do it. I went to this store after I got married and paid 150 dollars to get my ring solder my engagement ring with my wedding bands. The women working the counter took down all of my information and assured me that my rings were in good hands and that I would be receiving a call in about two weeks once my ring was returned. My rings were returned to me three and a half weeks later reversed, completely attached the wrong way. I was absolutely devastated as I had waited nearly a month to get my rings back. The representative then began to patronize me referring to me as honey and sweetie, all of which was completely unprofessional. I then asked her to refer to me by my name and she proceeded to walk away from me and help an incoming customer. The jeweler then took an additional week taking my rings apart, so by then a month later I had received back my ring the way I had given it to them. I met with the jeweler and store manager and they both had nothing but excuses. If you care about your sentimental items I do not recommend Robert Haack. read more

I'll never be back. Just brought in a gold watch and matching gold ring for an insurance appraisal. The woman behind the counter was great however she went to get a price from the gemologist who came back out with her. He asked what I needed an appraisal for and again I said insurance. I told him I had an appraisal from 2006 and he cut me off and said "that should be good enough." Good enough? When gold was $600 an oz? He then said "if not I would charge you "like" $150. He walked away mid sentence. He didn't seem to care I was there or wanted the business. No wonder all these other reviews are negative. I'll never be back. Surprised the place is still open. My husband Spent over $5,000 for my ring. I spent nearly $2,000 for his. We were told our rings were new and rare to find. Boy oh boy we thought we had a great deal. Over time the rings looked dull so we took them to be cleaned. The shine never came back. On top of that, our rings were white gold. His turned back the gold color. We decided to take the rings to their other jewelry store and PRETEND that we wanted to sale. The GI guy happened to be in the building and he said ok u want to sale.... Not a problem, he looked at the rings and said oh you got these from Steins or Shaws or Zales....somewhere, this is their style of low budget rings. We we're stunned and jaws dropped. He offered $100 for the set of mines and $50 for his ring. The GI talked so bad about the rings, not knowing his company was the one that sold the bs to us. We are hurt and devastated. we eventually went back to the store we 1st purchase from just to find out that you can only exchange jewelry but NO REFUND! That was NOT what we were told in the beginning. We were told We could bring it back. The part we didn't hear was the part of EXCHANGE ONLY. NO CASH REFUNDS. I truly understand, they are in the business to make money. I also now understand why they have armed guards at the door.....Not because they got robbed or to prevent it, but because they have played people so much and people want their money back...PEOPLE HAVE PROBABLY MADE THREATS BECAUSE YOU RIPPED THEM OFF! My husband and I were looking for a ring for me to wear everyday that wouldn't over shine my wedding rings or engagement ring. We stopped here 4 times total. The 1st time we stopped in was to look at their selection and compare it to what we had seen in other stores we had stopped in. We found a couple I liked but we left and went to another store in the area to make sure we had seen all the stores near us. The guy we worked with was nice enough. He showed us the rings we wanted to see but didn't say anything. He was more interested in helping another customer in there who was looking at several hundred dollar rings.... The 2nd time we stopped in was to buy 1 of the rings we had seen earlier. We got the same guy as before. The purchase of the ring and figuring out what size I am was simple and easy. We were told it would be ready in about 1 week. The 3rd time we stopped in was about 1 week later to pick up the ring. As soon as I saw the ring, I knew there was something wrong with 1 of the diamonds - it was definitely not like it was when we purchased the ring and had it sent for sizing. I told the guy there was something wrong with the diamond. He tried to give some some bullsh*t run-around answer which I wasn't buying for a second. I told him I work with jewelry and I could clearly see something was wrong without even having to look closely at the ring. I told him I wanted that diamond replaced. I immediately got attitude from him AND the other guy working there. Sorry but I am not going to ignore something like that. Reluctantly, they agreed to replace the diamond and said it would be ready in 1 week. So now I have to wait 2 weeks for a ring that was supposed to take 1. The 4th time we stopped in here was to pick up my ring after the diamond was replaced. I asked to see the ring before we left and to use a monocular (for those to don't know - it is a , handheld tool in order to magnify gemstones and other jewelry) to look at it and the guy's annoyance was so apparent, it made me feel UNCOMFORTABLE. Then while I am trying to look at the diamonds in the ring, the guy kept talking and trying to distract me. Thankfully my husband was there with me and was able to get the guy to back off. Ugh. I was in this establishment to try and sell some gold I have. I said "try" because we waited in line for 45 minutes without even being acknowledged by the sales people running around. This isn't the first time this has happened, either. My husband and I came in here a few months earlier and the same thing happened. Not one acknowledgement to us, even though we spent more time waiting in line then we did selling our gold. To have customers waiting in line that long and to not acknowledge them standing there, even for a short wait, is very poor customer service in my opinion. Even "just a moment" or "we have several customers and are expecting a longer wait, could you wait a few minutes?" would have sufficed. One can only imagine what it would be like to buy a ring or a piece of jewelry from Robert Haack, if their customer service is this piss-poor. The rent-a-cop could use a few tips on how to handle customers as well. Regardless, we will never be back,as it was obviously a complete waste of time. If you still want to go, be advised their parking lot is absolute CRAP, and good luck finding a place to park. read more

In 2021 I bought a diamond anniversary ring from the Robert Haack affiliated store in Southridge Mall. Recently a diamond fell out so my wife took it to a different jeweler that she deals with and they said the ring was in bad condition all around and that it wasn't even worth spending the $125 to replace the missing diamond. I took it back to the main Haack store on 76th St. and asked them to buy it back, not expecting them to do so. To their credit they refunded my money and apologized for the incident. I recently went here to sell some of my old jewelry but when I was only offered $50 for a 3 diamond gold pendant I was shocked at the low offer. I took the same item across the street to a different jeweler and was offered $200 for the same pendant! I will never again sell any of my old jewelry or gold pieces here and I urge you to go anywhere but here. They are thieves taking advantage of people when money may be tight. Your response is just as irritating as my in-person interaction with you. What's at issue here is that we asked your employees if the jewelry was RETURNABLE and they said YES. I think if you ask any fair-minded person, they would agree that "return" and "exchange" mean two totally different things. I'm not taking issue with the quality of the jewelry or the fairness in price. I have no comment on those things. I'm not even taking issue with the exchange policy... had it been appropriately communicated. What I do take issue with is the fact that YOUR employees told us one thing verbally, and then you didn't stand behind it. For that reason alone I would never do business with you again, no matter how many manufacturers you work with. You can hide behind your "policy" but in my opinion you do not operate in good faith. The reason why I did not want to keep the rings is irrelevant. No, I didn't wear them on a weekend or for an occasion and you have absolutely no reason to think that I did. I thought I had the flexibility to look at them at home and decide what I wanted to do. And I thought that because - again - YOUR employees told us that was the case. I guess the lesson here is: do not trust what Robert Haack employees say. Great, reputable business you've got there. And by the way, the ring you wouldn't take back was off the floor for three days. Took my ring in to sell them my diamond and the gentleman brought out his loupe to examine it and says to me, "well, it looks like it MIGHT be around ONE carat! RED FLAG!! It was a 2.01 SI2 Certified TWO carat diamond! Either he is Completely incompetent or was taking me for a ride. He then goes into the back to "figure out the offer" and comes back with 1200 written on an envelope. DONE, insulted by someone who said a 2 carat diamond was Maaayyybe a 1 carat then offers THAT. The appraisal stands at $8000.00 and 2 other diamond buyers offered me $5500.00 and $6000.00 so they weren't even in the same ball park. If they gloat that they are the Best and most honest wouldn't you be even a little bit closer to the other offers? It is their prerogative to offer what ever they want, just as it is my prerogative to NEVER enter into their establishment either to sell or purchase as I firmly believe they are crooks. read more
