Everything starts and ends with Cathy at the Greenfield store. She is so fun and easy to work with. This is our 3rd time at Haack's. We bought our wedding rings there, we sold old jewelry there, and our latest visit was for a resize of a ring and a replacement watch battery. The experiences I have are so inconsistent and back and forth. The first time I went thinking I could get the $20 promise if I could find a better offer somewhere else, which didn't happen. Instead they made up some excuse. Then a cpl times I went in to sell and was satisfied with the offers... And of course a few times I was very unsatisfied bordering on feeling like I'm just being ripped off. The only thing that's consistent is that they were always extremely friendly. I actually started feeling like I made some friends there. Just gab friends, not close friends that offer you special treatment, but still nice ladies. I went to this store after I got married and paid 150 dollars to get my ring solder my engagement ring with my wedding bands. The women working the counter took down all of my information and assured me that my rings were in good hands and that I would be receiving a call in about two weeks once my ring was returned. My rings were returned to me three and a half weeks later reversed, completely attached the wrong way. I was absolutely devastated as I had waited nearly a month to get my rings back. The representative then began to patronize me referring to me as honey and sweetie, all of which was completely unprofessional. I then asked her to refer to me by my name and she proceeded to walk away from me and help an incoming customer. The jeweler then took an additional week taking my rings apart, so by then a month later I had received back my ring the way I had given it to them. I'll never be back. Just brought in a gold watch and matching gold ring for an insurance appraisal. The woman behind the counter was great however she went to get a price from the gemologist who came back out with her. He asked what I needed an appraisal for and again I said insurance. I told him I had an appraisal from 2006 and he cut me off and said "that should be good enough." Good enough? When gold was $600 an oz? He then said "if not I would charge you "like" $150. He walked away mid sentence. He didn't seem to care I was there or wanted the business. No wonder all these other reviews are negative. I'll never be back. Surprised the place is still open. My husband Spent over $5,000 for my ring. I spent nearly $2,000 for his. We were told our rings were new and rare to find. Boy oh boy we thought we had a great deal. We are hurt and devastated. we eventually went back to the store we 1st purchase from just to find out that you can only exchange jewelry but NO REFUND! That was NOT what we were told in the beginning. We were told We could bring it back. The part we didn't hear was the part of EXCHANGE ONLY. NO CASH REFUNDS. I truly understand, they are in the business to make money. My husband and I were looking for a ring for me to wear everyday that wouldn't over shine my wedding rings or engagement ring. We stopped here 4 times total. The 1st time we stopped in was to look at their selection and compare it to what we had seen in other stores we had stopped in. We found a couple I liked but we left and went to another store in the area to make sure we had seen all the stores near us. The guy we worked with was nice enough. He showed us the rings we wanted to see but didn't say anything. He was more interested in helping another customer in there who was looking at several hundred dollar rings.... The 2nd time we stopped in was to buy 1 of the rings we had seen earlier. We got the same guy as before. The purchase of the ring and figuring out what size I am was simple and easy. We were told it would be ready in about 1 week. The 3rd time we stopped in was about 1 week later to pick up the ring. As soon as I saw the ring, I knew there was something wrong with 1 of the diamonds - it was definitely not like it was when we purchased the ring and had it sent for sizing. I told the guy there was something wrong with the diamond. He tried to give some some bullsh*t run-around answer which I wasn't buying for a second. I told him I work with jewelry and I could clearly see something was wrong without even having to look closely at the ring. I told him I wanted that diamond replaced. I immediately got attitude from him AND the other guy working there. Sorry but I am not going to ignore something like that. Reluctantly, they agreed to replace the diamond and said it would be ready in 1 week. So now I have to wait 2 weeks for a ring that was supposed to take 1. The 4th time we stopped in here was to pick up my ring after the diamond was replaced. I asked to see the ring before we left and to use a monocular (for those to don't know - it is a , handheld tool in order to magnify gemstones and other jewelry) to look at it and the guy's annoyance was so apparent, it made me feel UNCOMFORTABLE. Then while I am trying to look at the diamonds in the ring, the guy kept talking and trying to distract me. Thankfully my husband was there with me and was able to get the guy to back off. In 2021 I bought a diamond anniversary ring from the Robert Haack affiliated store in Southridge Mall. Recently a diamond fell out so my wife took it to a different jeweler that she deals with and they said the ring was in bad condition all around and that it wasn't even worth spending the $125 to replace the missing diamond. I took it back to the main Haack store on 76th St. and asked them to buy it back, not expecting them to do so. To their credit they refunded my money and apologized for the incident. Ugh. I was in this establishment to try and sell some gold I have. I said "try" because we waited in line for 45 minutes without even being acknowledged by the sales people running around. This isn't the first time this has happened, either. My husband and I came in here a few months earlier and the same thing happened. Not one acknowledgement to us, even though we spent more time waiting in line then we did selling our gold. To have customers waiting in line that long and to not acknowledge them standing there, even for a short wait, is very poor customer service in my opinion. Even "just a moment" or "we have several customers and are expecting a longer wait, could you wait a few minutes?" would have sufficed. One can only imagine what it would be like to buy a ring or a piece of jewelry from Robert Haack, if their customer service is this piss-poor. The rent-a-cop could use a few tips on how to handle customers as well. Regardless, we will never be back,as it was obviously a complete waste of time. If you still want to go, be advised their parking lot is absolute CRAP, and good luck finding a place to park. read more

I recently went here to sell some of my old jewelry but when I was only offered $50 for a 3 diamond gold pendant I was shocked at the low offer. I took the same item across the street to a different jeweler and was offered $200 for the same pendant! Your response is just as irritating as my in-person interaction with you. What's at issue here is that we asked your employees if the jewelry was RETURNABLE and they said YES. I think if you ask any fair-minded person, they would agree that "return" and "exchange" mean two totally different things. I'm not taking issue with the quality of the jewelry or the fairness in price. I have no comment on those things. I'm not even taking issue with the exchange policy... had it been appropriately communicated. What I do take issue with is the fact that YOUR employees told us one thing verbally, and then you didn't stand behind it. For that reason alone I would never do business with you again, no matter how many manufacturers you work with. You can hide behind your "policy" but in my opinion you do not operate in good faith. The reason why I did not want to keep the rings is irrelevant. No, I didn't wear them on a weekend or for an occasion and you have absolutely no reason to think that I did. I thought I had the flexibility to look at them at home and decide what I wanted to do. And I thought that because - again - YOUR employees told us that was the case. I guess the lesson here is: do not trust what Robert Haack employees say. Great, reputable business you've got there. And by the way, the ring you wouldn't take back was off the floor for three days. The appraisal stands at $8000.00 and 2 other diamond buyers offered me $5500.00 and $6000.00 so they weren't even in the same ball park. If they gloat that they are the Best and most honest wouldn't you be even a little bit closer to the other offers? The guy looked at each piece, showed me what it weight and gave me a price for each piece and total. Do not come to Robert Haack if you expect a positive and professional jewelry buying experience! They are only interested in buying scrap gold and even then people wait in line for long periods of time without ever being acknowledged by a staff member. I had a custom piece made there and waited in line too without even a glance or "good morning" from any staff member. This has been by far the most disappointing, frustrating and unprofessional experience I have had at a Jewelry store in Milwaukee. My custom piece was a nightmare and two of the four appraisals I had done there were inaccurate which I brought to the attention of the staff and they corrected. Really ???? Supposed to be experts !!!! It was not worth the time and money spent as my custom piece didn't turn out the way I specified which resulted in numerous trips to the store fro clarification throughout the process. What a waste of time especially since the piece didn't turn out as I wanted. I also inquired about selling a diamond that I had already had graded and their grading came way below the actual grading report resulting in their offering me a really low ball price. I didn't tell them I had the grading and wanted to see their "professional appraisal" Yikes, how horrible! Run,don't walk from this establishment. There are far more trustworthy establishments in Milwaukee. Let my lesson help you....I wasn't educated enough but am not (because I had learn ) during this horrible experience. Extremely unprofessional. My partner tried to work with them to design a custom necklace as a surprise birthday present for me recently. After picking it up and paying in full, he realized the chain was not what he had ordered and checked his receipt. He called the store and the salesperson he had been working with tried to tell him he was wrong, even though the correct receipt did not match the chain on the necklace he was given. This went on for days and my birthday was missed. They implied, both in person, and over the phone that he was simply trying to return it because I didn't like it - when all he wanted was for them to correct their mistake. I STILL haven't seen the necklace - he wouldn't show it to me until they had fixed their mistake, which never happened. He returned the necklace today for store credit, with my never seeing it, because they refused to correct their mistake and he did not want to give me whatever they had put together for him instead. While he was returning it, the staff even had the gall to advise him to bring me along next time so that I could pick something I liked, once again, implying that *I* was the reason for the return. I'm very upset that he was forced to take store credit for their mistake and disappointed that we have to give these jerks any business at all. Had it not been a surprise, I would have advised him to go elsewhere and certainly will in the future. read more

My wife and I went in 5/26/16 for an appraisal for insurance purposes. Shortly after entering, seemingly the only salesperson working hurriedly asked us why we had come in and wouldn't even let me complete my sentences as I explained the appraisal we needed. He spoke in such a rush, despite the store being completely empty. He had asked where we had purchased the ring from and after telling him it was not from Haack, but instead a mall jewelry store, he flew off the handle. He spoke to my wife and I as we were children and went on to bitterly explain other retail stores. I explained that I know how they make their profits, but I simply needed an appraisal. He spoke of the supposed better value of his prices for competitors' similar quality diamonds and claimed that his appraisal would likely be lower than the price I paid for the ring. I explained I understood that, as it was obvious to me that the retail store needed to make a profit. He kept insisting that I go back to where I purchased the ring from for the appraisal, despite that I had mentioned twice the mall establishment did not offer sufficient appraisal services for my homeowner's policy. He ultimately refused to do the appraisal, though it didn't matter as I would not be spending any money at an establishment that would treat potential customers so rudely. I'm not one to write negative reviews, but this completely rubbed us the wrong way and I feel others should know what to expect walking in. read more

Robert HAACK diamonds is a HAACK! My wife and I stopped in twice to try and sell some gold and silver we had. Talk about highway robbery! The first time we went to have a sterling silver necklace and diamond pendant looked at. We were in need of money and wanted to see it's worth. We have appraisal papers for it, the appraisal for it was $6,600. The diamond has it's own papers as well from a gemologist telling what shape, clarity, color, etc... the diamond is in. We waited in line for over 30 min with no one helping us, much less even a word saying hello or we'll be with you in a moment. Nothing. The manager then said she'd take a look at. She told us the chain was only worth $35 and the diamond pendant wasn't really a diamond. She never did any tests on the diamond, just looked at it through a microscope. We showed her the appraisal papers and she said they were wrong. We said thanks, but no thanks and left. We took the necklace to 3 other jewelry stores, which all confirmed that it was a diamond. All 3 places performed tests on the diamond and confirmed its realness. We received 3 separate quotes for the entire necklace and diamond pendant of $3,000; $3,200; and $3,250...The HAACK's were only going to give us $35!!! The second time we went in to sell some old gold necklaces and some sterling silver silverware (knives, forks, spoons) we had sitting around. Once again we waited around for 30 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge that we were even there. The gold we brought it was all 14K gold. We had about 10 grams and at the current market (at the time) would have been about $250 worth. They told us the market price wasn't up to date, they would have to burn it down, and that we could only get $150 for it. We were ripped off on the silver we brought in. Everything I looked up told me prices for troy ounces. Haack only deals in grams. We had about 1400 grams of .925 purity of sterling silver that at the current market value at the time would have sold for about $900.... They only gave us $550. We were shammed! Granted it's our own problem (faults) for accepting this price, we were idiots. But be aware people. They will not give you what your worth truly is. The customer service here is horrible. Don't let yourself get shammed! read more
