Dr. Iezman's office is the best. We came here for a second opinion after feeling unsure about another local, popular office. We came here upon the recommendation of our adult Dentist, who is also a dental professor in San Francisco. She said she only sends her clients to Dr. Iezman. Dr. Iezman explains things clearly, answers questions and most importantly, our son's teeth are beautiful! The front desk is friendly and accommodating, and they offer incentives for visits and taking good care of their teeth/devices. We couldn't be happier. read more

He even pointed out to us that our oldest had a cavity so we were able to take get it fix right away. My daughter goes to UC Berkeley. She lost her retainer at school and needed a replacement urgently. I called Dr. Iezman based on the reviews on yelp. I thought the office staff seemed very pleasant. The one red flag was that they would not tell me anything about how much it would cost my daughter to replace her retainer even though they said it was a fixed fee (not variable at all, so they knew exactly how much it would cost). I should have known better to trust this kind of business practice, and I will in the future. However, since they were charming on the phone and they had good reviews, I went ahead and suggested them to my daughter as a possibility. I had some quotes from other orthodontists for retainer replacements. I assumed they would be reasonably within the ballpark since they were such nice and decent people. My bad:-) My daughter called me in tears and inconsolable after her appointment. The price she was quoted once she had already stepped into the office and paid her $90 office visit fee was basically double the quotes I had received from other orthodontists (if you include the non-refundable office visit fee). This was approximately $300 more than I would have paid elsewhere. Needless to say, we put the $90 office visit fee down as the price of our stupidity for trusting this organization to have fair pricing, and our daughter has an appointment with another office who has high recommendations from yelp AND will quote the entire cost to us over the phone. In addition, this other office said that if she decided not to get her retainer with them, they wouldn't charge her anything!! I'll do a very nice Yelp review for the new orthodontist after my daughter's visit tomorrow:-). I'm sure that Dr. Iezman is lovely to work with if you are going through the whole orthodontia process and have insurance to cover it, but please be careful if you need to pay out of pocket for his service. This business practice of not giving out a quote till you pay the $90 office visit fee is unacceptable especially when they are dealing with college students. I'm very sad that someone who has such great reviews on Yelp and who seems like a nice person couldn't just have warned us that it was going to be over $600 to get a retainer if we went to them (including office visit). I hope my review keeps others from being too trusting just because someone seems nice. read more

This is one healthcare provider who is truly a pleasure to visit. The office is state-of-the-art in every way, from the fingerprint ID self check-in to the new online services. The kid-friendliness goes above and beyond, from "prizes" given for each visit to seasonal festivities and decoration at all times. Dr. Iezman is the soul of friendly graciousness; my eight-year-old daughter and I are equally charmed. His staff are very professional, also warm and personal. All are gentle, encouraging, and highly competent. My only complaint is that they whisk us in and out so efficiently, I never have time to get through any of the juicy magazines in the amply stocked waiting room. read more

I was referred to Dr. Izeman by Dr. Ian Iwane. Dr. Izeman's practice is run efficiently. He is polite enough and tries to explain what he is planning to do and regularly keeps you posted on how the treatment is going. My major disappointment with him is that he followed Dr. Iwane's recommendations even when I expressed doubts about the treatment, and when he seemed to be confused about what Dr. Iwane was planning to do. He often wondered out loud what the end goal of the orthodontic treatment was and what Dr. Iwane planned to do. I underwent a one-year, roughly $5000 orthodontic treatment that added to my bone loss and to the mobility of my teeth. He then dropped my insurance, and so did Dr. Iwane. I ended up not being able to follow the original treatment plan and had to lose four teeth and get a bridge instead of the original plan to have a bone graft and an implant. (This was according to my new oral surgeon and a second opinion by UCSF specialists). The health care industries may be trying to learn a bit of humility and loop the patient into the decisions, but in my case, both Dr. Izeman and Dr. Iwane treated me like a child or a thing they are working on. I am highly educated and very curious, and I read everything I can about treatments. I could have understood if Dr. Izeman had expressed any concerns to me or asked me to look for alternatives, but Dr. Izeman clearly saw his duty as being loyal to Dr. Iwane and not me, the paying customer and the patient who would have to live with the results of his expensive treatment. I regret not having listened to my doubts. read more

I have been going to Iezman's office for many years with my kids, one after the other. His office is well organized and appealing. Iezman himself certainly knows what he is doing and the treatments that my kids got were superb. Price-wise he is on the upper end, but you get what you pay for. All costs were clear and in writing before start of treatment, and they are rather uncomplicated with re-organizing payment plans along the way. The only negative that I found over the years is that scheduling an appointment can be an ordeal. Office staff, although efficient, tends to be rather bossy when it comes to scheduling. I found that giving them exact available times (and being firm about these) is important, otherwise you will be stuck with times where you have to take your kid out of school. read more

We moved from out-of-state and need to continue my (then) 9 year old's phase 1 orthodontic treatment. On our first visit the front desk people were very sweet, threatening to keep my son because he was so cute. The assistant sat my son down and explained what Dr. Iezman would be doing, asking me if either of us had any questions. She even chatted with my daughter, who came along. Dr. Iezman promptly came over, introduced himself, and proceeded with the exam. After examining my son he explained what was needed, and was very upfront about costs, and what to expect. The assistants are all amazingly friendly and the billing person worked with me to maximize the use of my insurance and FSA, was very respectful and polite. I have always found the front desk help to be helpful and accommodating, hearing different is very surprising. Dr. Bob is one of the best orthodontists in the Bay area. Not only do we have three children with "challenged jaws" who now have a beautiful smile, it was always fun to SEE Dr. Bob! He makes you laugh and he is really an exceptional architect of the mouth. Many of our friends have sent their children to him with the same results. Having had orthodontics in the past, Dr. Iezman's office is definitely state of the art, and his professional manner makes him a pleasure to visit. I saw him as an adult patient for remedial orthodontics and was impressed with how carefully he listened. Interviewed three different Orthodontist before making the decision to using Dr. Iezman for my children's treatment. I have no regrets. They have always been able to accommodate our schedule for appointments and we make every attempt to be prompt and courteous by being on time. Dr. Iezman always made time to talk to about any changes or progress regarding treatment and his staff is just a informative and approachable. The kids enjoy their visit not so much the adjustments on their braces but over all have a pleasant experience. The only problem I've encountered is the parking in the afternoon. This can be challenging at times if your visiting the North Berkeley site. But as far as service and professionalism I very happy with my choice. read more

Unbelievably overpriced! I had braces as a teen and recently my once straight teeth started shifting and I could no longer fit my old retainer. I went in for a consult (this practice was recommended to me by my dentist) hoping that they could simply adjust my old retainer for me. After an exam, I was told that surely they could do that. So far so good. Then the doctor left the room and his financial clerk came in with a quote for the adjustment to the retainer and all necessary office visits. I had previously explained that I had orthodontic coverage under my husband's insurance plan, so I wasn't too worried about the price tag, especially since I was having such minor work done. I should have been worried. The quote was just under $2,000. Assuming they had not taken my insurance coverage into account, I explained that my medical would cover $1,000, so their figure needed to be recalculated. The clerk responds, "Oh, I am sorry for the confusion, this quote has already had your $1,000 coverage taken into account." WHAT. So the grand total would be near $3,000! This is with being able to REUSE my old retainer! They don't even have to make a new one, simply adjust the old one. I was speechless. Assuming I was just very clueless about orthodontic pricing, I politely said I would talk the quote over with my husband and let them know. I did research post appointment, and got several other quotes ranging from $500 to $1,000 (WITH new retainers being made for me). Needless to say, I did not use Iezman Orthodontics. I felt sincerely taken advantage of. The icing on the cake (and what prompted this Yelp review) is that today I received a bill for the portion of my office visit that was not covered by my insurance. Fine, but my appointment with this office was OVER 1 YEAR AGO. Do not tell me that Delta took that long to work out their share of the cost, I use them for my regular dentistry insurance and they never take more than 2 months. I call BS on this office, their pricing and their staff! read more

Scheduling has been sometimes difficult, but overall the service is good and Dr Iezman has been very attentive.

My daughter sees Dr. Iezman and I wouldn't put her in any other orthodontist's hands. Dr. Iezman is an excellent orthodontist!!! Believe me I should know - I had braces for 6-1/2 years when I was a child and if only Dr. Iezman was practicing back then I probably would have had a better outcome in less time. My daughter and I had very similar crowding problems and rotated teeth...I know, the visual is scary!!! In just two short years, my daughter's teeth and bite are beautiful. Dr. Iezman and his entire staff are warm, friendly and caring. Friendly and helpful staff there. Dr. Iezman is professional and caring for his patients. Every time when I arrived, my record was pulled and ready at the screen. They reviewed before they approached me and always got correct information for what they did last time. Yup, they do have strict scheduling policy but depends what side you are laying on. Dr. Iezman is the epitome of great orthodontry. He handled braces for both of my kids (girl and boy). Every visit was very personable and professional and they always run on time. But here's why he's exceptional - I took my daughter (age 13) to a highly recommended orthodontist in Montclair for her initial consultation for braces. The orthodontist suggested pulling four teeth. After taking me through the scans of my daughters head, showing me her crowding and how much room she would need to fit all of her teeth, I said, "okay" to that orthodontist. Then, I called our dentist to set up a time to have my daughter's teeth pulled. He looked at the xrays and molds, and the suggested plan from the first orthodontist, and called me. He told me that there was no reason in his mind why my daughter should have four teeth pulled and asked if he could send her films to another ortho (Bob Iezman) for a second opinion. My dentist spent 30 minutes on the phone with me talking about dentistry, ortho work and why it wasn't necessary to pull my daughter's teeth. Then, he called Bob Iezman, talked through my daughter's case and sent him the films. Dr. Iezman reviewed our case immediately, sent an email back the dentist within an hour with a full evaluation and said there was no reason to pull teeth. He told me that my daughter had plenty of room in her mouth for all her teeth ("she only needs 5 mm to fit everything on the top and bottom," he said). Our dentist and Dr. Iezman followed up with me on two separate phone calls, spending an additional hour with me talking about options. He never billed me for any of this time (which was a huge relief because I am a single mom with limited financial resources). Dr. Iezman then asked if I would come in for a free consultation (let me note that the first Ortho charged me $600 for the same consultation, which included the molds and xrays, but we spent less than 20 minutes at his office). Dr. Iezman spent 45 minutes with us, did an oral exam on my daughter, measured her mouth, bridge and teeth crowding and said again that she did not need to have teeth pulled. I elected to have him put braces on her that day. Three months later, her teeth were so much straighter and it was very clear that Dr. Iezman was correct. Today, her smile is beautiful AND she still has all of her teeth. I didn't have to spend hundreds of dollars having teeth pulled. Most importantly, she didn't have to experience the pain of pulled teeth. My son had braces with Dr. Iezman as well and we had a PERFECT experience. Great staff, great doctor. read more

I liked dr. Iezman and was hoping he will be my son's orthodontist , but his appointment schedules are so rigid and inflexible, it almost ridiculous , my son has to miss 2 days of school for 2 (just 1 hour) appointments to put braces on ...because they can only do it in the mornings..... and no one can explain exactly why. They open till 5 pm , but can only see my child at 10 am for his braces... . We found someone more accommodating. read more

I love Dr. Iezman and his whole office. I do however, agree that scheduling has always been difficult there, and I don't quite understand why. And parking is a nightmare but you can't really blame him for that! That being said, no one is perfect and they way they handle the kids (and their methodology) is great. The biggest problem with this office is scheduling appointments.The office is only open a few days a week, they have a strict policy on when certain appointments are scheduled and are incredibly inflexible about making even the slightest accommodations. It does not help that the person who schedules appointments is so unfriendly. I am a local dentist and have been referring patients for orthodontics to Dr. Iezman for approx 15 years! He is extremely skilled with my patients and the results are always timely and very precise.He is sensitive to the feelings of the young & old alike giving you options and sound advice on the difference between your options. My own children have finished their treatment with him as well. He is a top notch professional and keeps me regularly informed on my all my patients progress with their treatment. I have been very happy with the care at Iezman/Osterman's orthodontic office in Berkeley. My daughter went thru a round of braces there. She was always seen quickly and everyone is very friendly and efficient in the office. Unfortunately they no longer accept our dental insurance (otherwise I would have given 5 stars), so I will need to find another ortho for my son. read more

My kids are past teenagers but they both had ortho work with Dr. Iezman. I suspect he's as great as ever if not better. His prices, by the way, were always in the middle of the industry. Not the most expensive and not the least expensive. His office was always a pleasure to visit. He communicated well with parents, and most importantly, my kids loved going there.
