DO NOT COME HERE!! I called on the phone asking if they could place my Invisalign attachments since I received Invisalign treatment in Mexico. They asked me to come in for a consultation (I accepted which was a mistake). During the consultation, they tried to persuade me to restart the treatment through them exclusively for 9k. I am already on Invisalign's treatment for the next year. The sales lady kept telling me that my current orthodontists weren't as good as theirs and that I made a mistake going to Mexico. Even though they are both through the same provider (Invisalign)?? When I told her that it was very expensive and that I only came for the attachments to be placed, they suggested that I ask my parents for assistance. I then grabbed my purse, ready to leave. She called in a technician to do a scan. I ended up walking out. Montclair orthodontist was able to do everything to me and confirm my treatment and treat me. Do not recommend. The receptionist seems more interested in gatekeeping than customer service. She refused to allow my 17 years daughter to complete her consultation because I was not present. This is confusing because my daughter is allowed to drive a car alone, work, and apply for college...all without a parent being present. Seems like since it wasn't my mouth that needed braces I shouldn't need to be present for a consultation. When I explained this policy seemed punitive to single parents and explained that we had a previous consultation with another orthodontist, where my daughter was seen without question, and I was provided with all the financial particulars over the phone and by email. She refused to accommodate. Why should I have to use paid time off for a service that only required me to pay for it? I'm left wondering if their policy was more about having you captive for the sales pitch than providing quality care and service to patients. I wonder this because the forms they requested we complete before the appointment collected what seems like a lot of personal information irrelevant to orthodontic care including: - my job title -name of my employer -years employment -how many years I lived at my address. -requested my full social security number. It seemed more like an application for credit (or to resale your personal information) rather than questions about providing safe and effective care to patients. I've provided less information for an actual credit card come to think of it. News flash Estes: I'll be paying cash to an office that wants to service modern families. I used to go here when it was Dr Brennan's office and had braces as an adult. The customer service was 110% and the staff Dr. Brennan had was top notch . I have called a couple of times to Dr. Estes's office and can't get a call back to schedule an appointment for my teen daughter to start the process started for braces. I call during the day and it goes to voicemail. The appointment web form doesn't work. So it makes me think they are closed and out of business; they don't care about my business and the customer is non-existent; or there is no longer a staff like Dr. Brennan had (or Dr. Brennan's staff no longer work there). read more

Not looking forward to Kid #3's orthodontia needs, but we KNOW we'll be returning to Dr. Estes. She's knowledgable, kind, empathetic, and most importantly, an expert in her field. A little over two years ago, I began my hunt to find an Orthodontist to align with my needs. I honestly felt a combination of emotions. First being, slightly silly and second, ashamed. Silly because I was freshly 28, and I personally felt too old to be getting braces. I thought to myself, if I were to attend appointments were prepubescent teens trolling Tik-Tok going to be like, "Lady, J.JILL is around the corner, get outta here," (accent a la Joey Tribbiani from Friends) or "who's Mom is this?" And ashamed because I wasted my teenage years not properly taking care of my teeth after my first treatment when I was 14. Mom, if you're reading this, I'm sorry for tossing your money down the drain--I hope I am still your favorite kid, I promise I won't tell my siblings, and you're the real MVP. 14 years later, and my teeth were back to square one. In total, I went to 3 consultations. My third being with Dr. Estes. You know that phrase, "third times a charm?" While it probably shouldn't be said during open heart surgery or driving a heavily loaded SUV over a thin wooden bridge suspended 500 feet in the air-- I can say this with confidence, it flashed in my head, in LARGE, bold, letters, after meeting with Dr. Estes and her team. It just clicked--this was the squad that was going to help me achieve my teeth goals. First and foremost, Dr. Estes administrative and billing team are quite literally, God sends (Claire, Krystal and Kathleen, ya'll are the bomb!) Any orthodontic treatment comes with an expected cost. They worked with my insurance, and my out of pocket flexibility--where I feel like the two other offices I consulted with, just straight up wanted my coins. Dr. Este's team was quick to respond to my eight hundred thousand questions, and all answers were laced with kindness while simultaneously being extremely informative. I never felt shortchanged through the entire process--it incredibly was seamless. Dr. Estes' approach for my treatment was well thought out and straightforward. It was decided to do a two-year bout of Invisalign. Her bedside manner is THE BEST. She is kind, caring, personable, and professional. Dental work, in general can be nerve racking for me, but Dr. E truly put my crawl-into-the-fetal-position anxiety at ease. A year into my treatment was my wedding, and Dr. Estes offered to take off my Invisalign hardware for me, for photos. Although Invisalign isn't aggressively obvious, I found it so considerate of her to offer, as we all want to look the best on our big day. This is just one of many examples of how well Dr. E takes care of her patients. Dr. E has a solid team of orthodontic assistants. One in particular who worked with me often, was Gary. Gary took my initial x-ray's and photos, did handful of my adjustments mid-treatment, and took my impressions for my retainers post-treatment. X-rays and impressions in particular can admittedly entail some uncomfortable moments. I was amazed how lightning FAST he was. I kid you not, impressions took less 5 minutes, and Gary is so knowledgeable in his field--he genuinely loves what he does and that translates to his work. Today was my removal day, and I am incredibly happy with the results. The only thing I am sad about now, post-treatment, is that I won't get to see them as regularly. I was here recently as my son was referred here by the great Dr. Joe Cortese for a orthodontics consultation. I have met the very capable Dr. Brehnan before, as my stepdaughter previously had her braces done here. This is a thriving practice and every time I come in the place is humming with positive energy and activity, usually involving kids in various stages of their treatment. Adult patients are welcome too, but from the game room to the treasure chest (where the right key gets you a prize), this place is geared towards the "adolescent overbite" crowd. And I think Dr. Brehnan and his staff do a thorough and professional job for their clients (and their parents). I was certainly happy with the results of my stepdaughter's treatment. My only criticism is that the staff sometimes puts the cart before the horse in terms of talking treatment schedules and their generous financing options (including a family discount) before the first examination is even conducted. It makes me wonder whether any kid comes out of here not needing braces. read more

I went to Dr. Brehnan's office for a consultation. I checked in and was told to fill out some paper work (new patient forms) and was told by the receptionist to not worry about the insurance part. I'm finally brought in for my consultation and get the basic rundown; teeth removal, length of treatment & most importantly, pricing. I looked at my estimate & was shocked that I had to pay $7,000+ ????? I thank them for their time and leave. As I'm walking to my car & reviewing the estimate they gave me, I notice the insurance portion was blank. I walk back to figure out why. I asked the financial manager why my insurance isn't accounted for in my estimate and flat out says "You don't have insurance" (really? Because it comes out my check every pay period.) Which I thought was rude, a simple "I wasn't aware that you have insurance" would've sufficed but whatever. She assures me that she would go over it again and email me my new estimate. Not much of a difference. Not to mention that when they said I'd need x rays, and diagnostics done, I would have to pay that out of pocket instead of billing my insurance which BTW covers that as well. Point is, they're expensive, unprofessional (financial department) and severely lack communication. Wasn't even worth calling them back and letting them know I've found a better orthodontist. read more

I started my Orthodontic Journey this year at Dr.Brehnan's office and it has been a great experience. Dr.Brehnan started me on my journey with an informative consultation and was able to work with my insurance and finances. Each time I come into the Office Claire who I believe is the Office Manager always stops what she is doing to greet me with a smile and get me checked in and out quickly. Claire always finds an appointment time that works with my schedule and is happy to assist me when I need to reschedule. Nichole and Gary are my favorite assistants who always greet me with a smile, ask me about my day, and they talk to me like friends I have known for years. They're super fast with adjustments and band changes. Dr.Brehnan and Dr.Estes are so great and thorough with what they do. The Doctors always listen to my concerns and my appointments never feel rushed. When I moved, my old orthodontist recommended Kenneth Brehnan to me. I was very pleased that he allowed me to switch to his orthodontic office and waived the (approx. $1,000.00 start up fee) since he practices the same type of braces as my old orthodontist. I was VERY happy about saving that $1000 or so dollars! I also liked the fact he gave you a discount if you paid for your braces upfront...saved me a couple hundred dollars. He is a very friendly and nice young man, seems very honest. The staff are friendly and helpful and I have had no complaints thus far...every one says my teeth are looking better and better! I give him only 4 stars because my last orthodontist (in Canada) was slightly better because she was gentler on my teeth, kept tabs on my brushing (incentives for brushing) and let you take home as many toothbrush/floss/toothpaste samples as you wanted. But overall, i'm very satisfied....Kenneth is doing exactly what I'm paying him to do....straighten my teeth! read more

As a single mother (and a teacher) I wasnt sure how this would all work, but Dr. Brehnan and his staff were SUPER helpful! I came in with some minor concerns about straightening my teeth. Dr. Estes met with me and did a full exam, explained my treatment options and discussed Insurance and payment arrangements. I felt welcomed and informed when we decided that Invisalign would be the best option for me. Dr. Brehnan is very knowledgeable and helpful. The office was not exactly gleaming, but the staff was pleasant. I had a quick consultation with Dr. Brehnan, and he concluded very quickly that the orthodontic treatment that I had initially intended to request was not suitable. He did recommend a slightly different version of the treatment, but definitely implied that in my case it wasn't really necessary. You could tell that he didnt' want to turn a patient away, but he was very clear that my initial orthodontic plan was not something that he would do, because he thought that it would impact my facial structure badly. This is notable because two other orthodontists in the area said that they would do it! Be careful with these guys - if you're not sure, go to Dr. Brehnan to get a second opinion. read more

Almost EVERYONE in the East Bay that I knew growing up used Dr. Brehnan as their orthodontist; even my aunt who decided to get braces in her late 20's or early 30's despite dentists' false remarks her whole life saying that braces were just cosmetic (In my honest personal opinion, braces are NOT just cosmetic). Though Dr. Matsuishi (my childhood dentist)'s office gave me his name, my third grade teacher was the first one to give me Dr. Brehnan's card because he was her kids' orthodontist. Strangely enough, I enjoyed going to see Dr. Brehnan because he was friendly, funny, and most importantly, knew what he was doing. His staff (the front desk personnel as well as his assistants and technicians) was also very friendly and accommodating, but it's been a long time so I'm not sure if any of the same people who were there 10-11 years ago are still there. Rather than giving me a palate expander (or spacers) that most people get prior to braces, he started me off on expander retainers when I was about 9, so I'm happy I didn't have to go through the horror that most of my friends on the East Coast did with palate expanders and spacers. I was so excited when I got to pick flavors of whatever the techs used to take molds of my mouth for the retainers, and better yet, I was able to choose whatever colors and designs I wanted for my retainer (as opposed to the boring, gum-colored pink ones that people in previous generations, including my late grandfather, got). Dr. Brehnan's practice is also very into fixing things early, so I knew people who had retainers as early as 4 years old and braces as early as 7! Unfortunately he was not the one to do my braces (that took place about 2 years after I moved to the Philly area) but I will always remember how he started me off on the right foot, how I ALWAYS felt at ease in his office, and for his great personality! read more

My family and I are having a very positive experience working with Dr. Brehnan and his staff. I am confident the treatment plans match the varying needs of the patients. For example, My daughter has had many months of braces while my son has been under observation for 5 years (with no payments) and will have braces when all his teeth come in.
