We had used Robert for a previous project and were happy with his service and very happy with the quality of his work. We contacted him in 2015 about a new project which was a TV enclosure over our fireplace and he came over in early November 2015 to look at the fireplace and told us he would be happy to work on the project. He told us he would be getting in touch with us soon with drawings and a proposal, but we heard nothing for several weeks.
We sent Robert multiple emails generally on a weekly basis through December 2015 and January 2016. None of these were returned, and neither were my phone calls to him. I was about to give up when in February he finally called me back and said he had been busy but would be able to work on the TV project in late spring or summer. I was delighted.
But then we heard nothing at all back despite some follow-up emails. I was again about to give up when Robert finally emailed me back on June 15, 2016 to say:
Good evening Paul,
All is well with me and I hope the same for you. Yes I will be working on revisions to the original drawings in the next week or two and will contact you when I have them ready. I will also have an estimate for this project at that time. Thank you for your patience. I will be in touch soon.
Thanks
And that was the last communication. I have emailed and called several times since then, but to no avail. And now here we are in November 2016, more than a year after Robert originally came over and looked at the project and told us he could do it, and no communication since last June. I was wondering if he was sick or if there was some other explanation, because we could not think what we had done to cause Robert to treat us like this. But according to a contractor we use for other things, Robert is alive and well and doing work for others. It is completely baffling; if he got swamped with work and was unable to find time to do our project, why would he not just tell us that? Instead of stringing us along with multiple promises to get to us "soon"?
I have never been treated so badly by any "professional" as I have by Robert Fischer of Robert Fischer Fine Woodworking. This has been a bitterly disappointing experience. read more
