I spent 9 months with Dr. Anderson and left with no progress and a recommendation to consider donor eggs. I'm writing this so no one in a similar situation wastes the same precious time I did. Background: I came to him at 36 with severe DOR -- AMH of 0.03 and FSH consistently above 15. His approach was to wait until my FSH naturally fell to 15 or below before starting IVF. For someone in perimenopause, that's very unlikely. He also refuses to use estrogen priming to help lower FSH, citing egg quality concerns -- a position that, per multiple other specialists I've since spoken to, is not backed by current evidence. The biggest driver of egg quality is age, not estrogen priming. After nearly a year of waiting, disappointing appointments, and being told donor eggs might be my only option, I found Dr. Wayne Lin at FCOC (Amazing doctor!!). He immediately came up with a game plan, starting with estrogen priming. I told him what Dr. A said and Lin assured me the biggest driver of egg quality is age, not estrogen priming. Lin put me on estrogen to bring my FSH down and started IVF right away. He gave me a realistic 30% chance of a normal embryo at my age. His facts were exact. Out of 3 eggs retrieved, only 1 was normal. She is now my healthy, bouncing, 14-month-old daughter. I later found out that Dr. Anderson is widely considered one of the most conservative fertility doctors in Orange County, and that some of his data points and methods appear to be outdated. His bedside manners are also a 5/10. At one appointment, as he walked in for yet another day 3 ultrasound and commented, "Boy, you're persistent". I was surprised, but I was willing to put up with him because I thought he was the best. However, I later found that Lin is a much more skilled doctor with unbeatable bedside manners. As for the office itself, it runs efficiently -- you're rarely waiting more than 10 minutes, and the finance department is genuinely skilled at navigating insurance issues, which is no small thing in the fertility world. The nursing staff was a mixed bag; about two-thirds were nice, but the remaining third had a cold, very 'Newport Beach' vibe -- like you were an inconvenience rather than a patient going through one of the hardest experiences of your life. That contrast was especially noticeable after switching to Dr. Lin's office, where every single nurse is kind and empathetic without exception. Conclusion: If your FSH is over 15 and he won't start IVF: LEAVE. Get a second opinion now. Time matters enormously in fertility treatment, and I wish someone had told me this sooner. read more

I did an ivf cycle here after doing extensive research. They seemed great on paper but I regret coming here. It's clear to me in hindsight that this place does cookie cutter protocol regardless of your situation and does not care about your health. It was smooth sailing initially. Appointments and billing was always easy to deal with. I had multiple embryos created. The lab messed up royally on doing PGT on all my embryos. They did the biopsy but due to lab errors, every single embryo came back inconclusive. They offered to do it for free the second time but I didn't want to harm the embryos by doing a second biopsy so I declined. Honestly I was so upset about this - the whole process of freezing, thawing, removing cells, and then freezing and unthawing during the transfer just can't be good for a growing embryo. They also refunded back the money from the PGT but I honestly didn't think it mattered. It was a drop in the bucket compared to what I paid for the whole process. They also offered to do a second cycle for free but it was more of a partial discount and I'd have to pay for meds, retrieval, etc. (For me, this was a deal breaker. I had only 1 shot at ivf as my insurance did not cover anything and everything was out of pocket.) Ended up transferring 1 frozen (unknown if it's boy, girl, genetic normal due to lab f up), got pregnant and miscarried early, and had major complications after. Experienced sharp pains by my ovary shortly after miscarriage and the dr said it's probably the fibroids causing pain. It is my genuine belief that their protocol with meds for the frozen embryo transfer was too aggressive - my body grew fibroids to super large size and created a bunch more. My husband initially gave me half dose for about a week until I realized we made a mistake. My blood tests showed adequate levels during the monitoring and we resumed doing the whole dose. (During all my ultrasounds, I was never advised to remove these fibroids prior to starting this whole journey. They noted I have fibroids but said I should be fine.) I am Asian - upon doing research I found out Asian and black women are more likely to have fibroids than other groups. And the cause of growth can be estrogen which is what they inject you with prior to transfer. I'm now recovering from removing 42 fibroids of which the largest was about the size of a large orange.. this one was closest to my injection site on my stomach. I will be off from work 2 months to recover and have a c section scar. I will only be able to have birth via c section or my uterus can rupture during labor. It took me some time to find a specialist that could remove my fibroids while preserving my fertility, schedule the visit, and schedule the surgery. This whole process took me well over 6 months to even get surgery. I will need to wait 6 months minimum before trying for another baby after recovering. For people fighting against a biological clock, this is a huge delay . I wish I had gone abroad to South Korea as many of my friends had. My friend had a similar journey and she ended up removing fibroids before starting ivf. She has a healthy baby from her journey. Cost wise, I'm sure I could have done more cycles over there as well. The care fertility Dr blamed my cervix for the failure (took her over two hours trying off and on to get into my cervix and of course it failed). Dr. Anderson on the other hand, transferred the embryo in seconds with no issues and I was pregnant just like that. He also has you come in way more to tailor the meds versus a one size fits all. He also suggested other things to do to increase success that I never heard about prior. He is intelligence, skilled, confident and will get the outcome we all want. This review is way over due. Dr. Anderson and Dr. Royster are amazing!!! I love the nurses, they are all very caring and very supportive. I went through IVF in 2023 and we got lucky with a baby boy who is now 14 months. We are so grateful for Dr. Anderson. I think people mistake confidence with arrogance. I love how confident he is with his work. I have really bad anxiety but for some reason he would just look at me and say this will work! Just made me feel at ease. Sorry for those who think he is cold. He is straightforward, fast and efficient. My friends have also come to him and have gotten success. He has the highest success rates if you do your research. The office is very clean. Can't say enough about them. If you get emotional the nurses will provide support. My favorite is Joyce! She was there one time when I lost it and she comforted me. This is a long overdue review! The short story is: don't hesitate, just go with Dr. Anderson; you're wasting precious time and money if you don't! And here is the long story: my wife and I wasted almost 2 years with another IVF doctor near Fashion Island. After a second failed attempt, my wife was 100% over it and said it's just not meant to be. A coworker of mine told me about Dr. Anderson, said he and his wife went there 3 times and got 3 babies!!! In the world of IVF, that is unheard of!! So I convinced my wife to give Dr. Anderson a try, one last attempt!! We did the normal routine of harvesting eggs and freezing embryos. We paid for the additional genetic testing to determine the gender, and also make sure the chromosomes were correct. I watched the entire process and Dr. Anderson implanted a boy so skillfully and calmly, as if he could do it with his eyes closed... like Kobe Bryant shooting a 3 pointer. I remember wondering if he even did it right because it took him a whole three minutes! But 10 days later, our pregnancy was confirmed. After we had our baby boy, we went back to defrost our girl embryo. Same old routine, as if it was no big deal, Dr. Anderson effortlessly implanted the embryo. And just like the first time, 10 days later, our pregnancy was confirmed. So he's 3 for 3 for my coworker and 2 for 2 for us. Once you have the children of your dreams and you finally experience parenthood, you eventually realize that whatever money was spent was minuscule. Even if it cost $500,000 per child, I would still do it! Children are priceless! It's only scary BEFORE you have the kids because you don't want to end up with no money and no kids. Okay, here is me again with a proof of my claims in my previous review that you don't need an IVF! Meet Mr.Ryan, our 100% natural baby. Short review because there's really not much to say other than I was not impressed, and that's me being nice. It took me a while to put this review together because it gets me mad and sad all at the same time. I get that Doctors have different bedside manners and that's okay but he was aloof to the point where you felt like you did not matter and I clearly didn't because 1. he only showed up for appointments after I got a positive test 2. this guy would leave the room with me undressed leaving the door open only for the second (much nicer) doctor who remained in the room to notice my discomfort and close the door behind Dr. Anderson, and 3. after my miscarriage which they knew about and which I informed them about as it happened, he nor the facility contacted me which per my OBGYN as well as future IVF doctor, they should have because I needed a certain procedure (I will not go into the details - but suffice to say, future pregnancies could have been impacted. This is actually very serious and probably in the area of malpractice). This review is not because I am disgruntled about a miscarriage. I always knew going in that there was certainly a big possibility that I would not be pregnant or if I did, a miscarriage was very possible. This review is solely based on the level of care which was non existent. Save your time and energies - go somewhere where they treat you like a human. Dr. Anderson and Dr. Royster are without a doubt THE BEST fertility specialists around.. My experience with infertility is pretty extensive.. I've done a laparoscopy, 3 hsg's, 1 SIS, 1 hysteroscopy, 3 iui's (which btw is pretty standard in most fertility clinics), 5 full rounds of IVF with 3 different fertility specialist and Dr. Anderson was FINALLY the "miracle worker" that helped me get pregnant on my first round with him. CDC and SART rates say it all.. they have one of the highest success rates in the NATION. My main issue was diminished ovarian reserve due to a grapefruit sized cyst that took over my entire right ovary. I had the cyst removed via laparoscopy with my OB and unfortunately they weren't able to salvage much tissue on my right ovary which resulted in my Amh dropping from 1.9 to 0.7 at the age of 33. I did 3 iui's with my first RE that did not result in pregnancy, then moved on to another clinic and did 4 rounds of ivf which resulted in average graded embryos and zero pregnancies.. I was losing hope at this point and was thinking about giving up.. or moving onto donor egg. A girl that I follow on social media who has a very strong influence and presence in the infertility community by the name of Anna Wang (@annagetscozy) posted about SCCRM and how amazing her experience was here. She also went through multiple rounds of IVF at another clinic and ended up getting pregnant her first round with Dr. Anderson. Feeling defeated after my 4th failed ivf.. I wasn't ready to give up just yet and called SCCRM right away to schedule a consultation after I saw her post. Dr. Anderson is the best. He knows exactly what he's doing.. he's had over 30 years of experience. It honestly baffles me when other reviewers post about his "one size fits all" or "cookie cutter" protocol... like what??? I'm sorry, Are you the specialist or is he?? Did you, the patient, go to years of medical school and complete years of research or did he?? I trust Dr. Anderson and Dr. Royster whole heartedly. I had 2 different friends come to Dr. Anderson the same time as me and NONE of us had the same protocol.. so let's debunk that "one size fits all" theory . Aside from Dr. Anderson being the literal best, the lab he works with is known for producing high quality embryos. At my old clinic FOUR retrieval's resulted in only 2 average graded, day 6 pgs embryos. Ovation labs was able to culture 2 perfect day 5, 5AA pgs embryos in ONE retrieval. We did a transfer the following month and I got my very first positive pregnancy test after 4 years of battling infertility and going through treatments. Dr. Anderson also ran some additional tests on me because I've had failed cycles with my previous clinic and he discovered I have a blood clotting disorder which requires a medication called lovenox. This was most likely the reason why I had so many failed cycles at my old clinic. He had me on lovenox and suggested intrillipids a few days prior to transfer. My entire experience at SCCRM has been nothing short of amazing. My only regret is not finding them sooner. Even if I didn't get pregnant I would still give them a high rating due to the care I was under. Due to covid my husband couldn't be there for any of my appts but I never felt too alone because the nurses really took care of me.. Crista, Jo, Joan and Joyce were there for me and they celebrated with me when I got my beta results back. The girls in the front, Molly and Robyn are so sweet and always so helpful. I'm seriously going to miss SCCRM. I wish they could see me through my entire pregnancy. But I'll be back next year for baby #2 and another egg retrieval just to preserve more eggs. I personally found Dr. Anderson to be really charming and kind.. I read some reviews stating he's dry and basically didn't coddle their feelings enough... Dr. Anderson specializes in reproductive endocrinology NOT therapy. Believe me, I understand infertility is daunting and lonely but I have never expected any of my RE's to coddle my feelings. I expected them to help me get pregnant. He's very straightforward (which I appreciate) but that doesn't mean he's dry or rude. Every time I had a question he answered it thoroughly and never made me feel like I was being rushed. I hold Dr. Anderson and Dr. Royster in the highest regard. Just based on the horrible phone consultation that lacked any empathy or professionalism I would never do business with this clinic. Mind you I've called several different clinics and it went well with each one except for this office. I just had basic questions and was just looking for ballpark figures for a specific procedure yet unless I paid almost $300 for a consult I wasn't given any info. I understand that I would need to pay for a consult at some point however I didn't want to shell out almost $300 to just be told that I'm not a good candidate. Receptionists cold response to almost every simple question was "sorry office policy". Just a bitchy vibe all around with no empathy. I can't imagine trying to go through the stress of an actual procedure and having this type of person be the point of contact. Absolutely a hard no for me. I am writing this review during social distancing being 32 weeks pregnant as a result of IVF treatment from Dr. Anderson and SCCRM team. Dr. Anderson was highly recommended by 3 healthcare providers I work with, 2 of them had success with IVF, 1 was still in the process when I had my IVF procedure. In addition to the recommendations, I also did my own research. If I were to spend this amount of money on my body, I wanted the best MD. That's how we ended up going to Dr. Anderson. SCCRM team is phenomenal, from front desk, to nurses, to office manager, to PA, to NP, to MD, everyone there knows me by my first name, they know the day/week of my treatment. I am not just a number to them. There were miscommunications and I had my freak outs, but Dr. Anderson and his nurses were able to calm me down and provide reasonable alternatives. I would be lying if I say I loved everyone at the clinic, there are personality differences, but the good thing is you can always choose to work with the nurse you are more comfortable with. For the most part, my experience was very positive. Dr. Anderson is not a fuzzy bear that loves and hugs everyone. Many people comment about his personality. I actually like that about him, he is very straightforward and he is not afraid of telling the ugly truth that no one else did. I appreciate that he told us during consultation, IVF is our better chance and do not waste money on IUI. I did not want false hope and waste time. Sometimes, he can be a little cold, but I did not go to him for therapy, I went to him to get pregnant and he delivered it. Dr. Anderson knows what he is doing, he cares about the results and he is the top tier in his field. Don't take my words for it, look him up and read about his success rates. One thing I struggled with was no set calendar, but I've learned to adapt and like the fact we do not follow a set calendar. Dr. Anderson personalizes treatment plans according to how my body is responding to medications. I like that when he is not out of town, he is always the one to call me and provide updates. I have also reached him on a Saturday night around 8 or 9pm due to not having enough medication (not saying you should call him on weekend nights, but to let you know that he can be reached 247 if you need him). Now that I am 32 weeks pregnant, I had appointments at OB office, perinatal office, apparently, "everyone" knows Dr. Anderson (my OB and perinatologist are not associated or work with Dr. Anderson). I have four beautiful Children because of this amazing office and his experience- Professional - yes. And for those who don't care for his bedside manner - get over it. After having my first with Dr Anderson - I thought I wanted warm and fuzzy and didn't get results. Three surgical procedures and two miscarriages later - I went back to Dr Anderson at the request of my obgyn and had boy girl twins. My children are the apple of my eye. This office and dr have changed my life! I now have the baby boy I have always dreamed of. I went through 2 iui's that were unsuccessful. But I my first round of ivf I got pregnant and now have my baby boy! The office staff and nurses, Joan, are all incredible!! They are available all the time. You never wait longer then 5 minutes for an appointment and everything is catered to you personally. Best medical office I have ever seen. I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant after several years of miscarriages and failed transfers. I was a patient at a different clinic and after 2 years with no success I decided to make the switch. I didn't want to leave my previous clinic because my doctor was kind and staff was very helpful but what's the point of all that if you can't get what you are truly there for, a baby! This is a long long due review. With the help of Dr. Anderson, my husband and I finally have our own baby after several years of trying. Previously, we were with another IVF clinic, but the doctor does not care about the patient condition at all. After two rounds of unsuccessful transfers, she cannot even provide a reasonable next step to test out what was wrong. I am so glad we switched to Dr Anderson. He took a close look at our case, and suggested several procedures to understand why it did not work, rather than just blaming bad luck like the other doctor. The ERA procedure he recommended showed that I have a different transfer window. So he changed the transfer protocol accordingly, and with our first try at SCCRM, we got our precious baby. Dr Anderson is so professional and knowledgeable. He is probably not the warmest doctor, but he is so effective and so skillful with a high success rate. UPDATE!! Dr. Anderson refused to treat me with IUIs because "They won't work for you!" Even though I begged and the next month, I became pregnant naturally!!! Due in 3 weeks! Such an ahole- run, don't walk to ANY other doctor!!!! Unbelievable. I am shocked. Dr. Anderson's nurse just called me to tell me Dr. Anderson will no longer do IUIs on me because "they won't work." I went to him last uear for IUIs. Maybe a total of 6. I have unexplained infertility and low AMH due to my age. I agree they will not likely work, as we have done TWO IVF rounds since I say him (at HRC - much cheaper, Anderson's professional fee alone is $5,000!). I am still paying those off and looking at IVF next sunmer. In the mean time, I wanted to try IUIs. But the nurse said he will not see me. What kind of doctor refuses to do this? This review is 18 years late. Yelp didn't exist when I went through my IVF with Dr. Anderson. My son turns 18 this month & a friend recently asked me for a referral. Of course, I would never refer anyone to someone I didn't trust and respect. I had two failed IVFs before going to Dr. Anderson. He removed ovarian cysts before my treatment and my experience with him from beginning to end was always positive. Ladies, the whole infertility thing is one giant roller coaster ride. You have ups and downs. You want the best chances for the best outcome. You're there for results and Dr. Anderson wants to succeed in getting you the same desired results. Dr. Anderson is one of the best in his field. He was then and still is today. I've read some reviews about his bedside manners, but my experience was totally opposite. I had 2 surgeries and 2 IVFs before Dr. Anderson. Due to endometriosis, I had my fallopian tubes removed at age 24. IVF was my only option to get pregnant. The first IVF doctor was highly recommended but he wasn't up to date on the latest treatments. I'm glad I found Dr. Anderson. Through his expertise and skills, I got pregnant on the first try. Save yourself $20,000 plus. Doctor Anderson has the worst fertility clinic/bed side manner in southern california, his practice is unorganized and chaotic until it comes to payment. The nurses are fine but don't expect any special care from Anderson. This is a turn and burn cookie cutter operation. And finally if you are unfortunate enough to go through IVF with this doctor he will over stimulate you with follistim and then you will have a bunch of empty follicles, and he will tell you that its your fault and you are shooting blanks. Saw Dr. Anderson 30 years ago with unexplained infertility. I was 39 years old and had tried for 8 years to become pregnant with various other infertility specialists. I told him I was going to try three more months of fertility treatments before giving up for good and told him to make the treatments count! I am so grateful to have found Dr. Anderson and highly recommend him. After a year and a half of trying and multiple miscarriages I felt defeated. I am in my early thirties and have a child so I felt very confused why I suddenly struggled to sustain a pregnancy. My OB recommended Dr. Anderson, as she was also at a loss why I was having such a challenging time. Prior to our first consultation, they had my husband and I send in our medical history and answer some health questionnaires. This was so helpful because within two minutes of meeting Dr. Anderson he was able to identify the cause for my troubles (hypothyroidism) and prescribe me medication to correct my thyroid. This came as a shock to me as I went to my regular doctor a year a half earlier complaining of thyroid symptoms and specifically asked for my thyroid to be tested. She said my levels were just fine. Thank god for Dr. Anderson reviewing those same scores and finding they were in fact, a problem. We went over my plan of attack and Dr. Anderson mentioned he felt confident I would go on to get pregnant naturally. Well, he sure was right!! After three weeks on the thyroid medication, I got pregnant that very same cycle and I'm just under ten weeks pregnant today. Infertility is a very isolating journey and I've felt relief from that very first appointment! It feels good to know someone so knowledgable and experienced is walking through this journey with us! I also couldn't write this review without mentioning Joan, the nurse who performs my weekly ultrasounds. Talk about an energy force!! Miscarriage really robs you from the joy that pregnancy brings and replaces it with fear and anxiety. Joan is so warm and comforting. I love that I get to see my baby developing week by week and she gives me a thorough explanation of what to expect and what is developing each week. I donated 52 Eggs 2.5 years ago. I went to hell and back to recover my body from OHSS. Including atrophy of my left hand and dermatitis of the mouth and scalp during my 12 days of recovery. Both of which I still have today. This man, not doctor, did not care about my health or safety. His staff and team would not disclose to me the final counts of eggs. I exceeded all the criteria to have OHSS. I have over 20 eggs in each ovary, I'm 26yo, 5'8, 113 pounds, and have low blood pressure naturally at the time. Not once was I warned. One day after my retrieval I was unable to drink or eat. As my ovaries swelled and body began to deteriorate from vomitting I was rushed by my husband to the ER. Dr. Anderson blames me for drinking Vitamin Water. Mind you I am drinking coconut water too, but my abdomen is so swollen nothing is staying in. I had an ultra sound of my ovaries not long after at my gyno. My egg count was a total of 11. Now my husband and I are struggling to conceive after 6 months. I had another ultra sound and have six in one ovary. They couldn't see the other. I have PTSD of all doctors now, especially those in fertility. such a great doctor!!! He was my 3rd fertility Dr, and came highly recommended. I know of about 5 other girls that were able to get pregnant from his office this year alone. Be forewarned he is all business, and pretty dry, so don't expect anything warm and fuzzy. The important thing is he is very honest, direct and is amazing at his job. Thinking about this place irks me, not because my 3 IUI didn't result pregnancy but because of the lack of care from the Dr. and the worst staff members they have there (except for the nurses, they were actually the only ppl who cared). Like other reviewers mentioned Anderson has this "one plan fits all" cookie cutter strategy- 3 IUI then IVF. During the 3 IUI, I was to show up every single day for ultrasound to check the follicle growth. This would been perfectly fine if Anderson himself showed up to perform the ultrasound at least 1/2 times, but it was always done by Joan, the nurse practitioner. One time, when he felt like showing up on my ultrasound, and I had questions to ask, but half of his body was already out to leave the room like the door was the only thing preventing him from exiting. I clearly remember the one question I had and his answer. I asked why another IUI and why can't I just move forward with IVF instead, he said "it's easier on the body and less money". Does he really think I cared how much it costed at this point after he milked out every time I showed up, with a possibility I would eventually move on to IVF from his office again? And it's easier on the body? I was already pumping up with synthetic hormone drugs daily without any success and he wanted me to continue this same plan until his experiment proved him wrong. His only interest is your dollar and his ego. Anderson is mediocre at best. You may get pregnant, but just like by any other so called doctors. Now for his staff - as I said the nurses here are good people. On the contrary those girls at the front office are some of the worst, especially someone named Dee. This woman has an attitude issue. It's cool when you catch her in occasional good mood, but expect the sass when she's not. I had one friend who stopped going to Anderson's because of her, and another friend who liked this office overall except for Dee. I once witnessed a patient outside the office door, crying. Not knowing what had happened, I came inside, and found out the exact reason from the staff (Mery Ann was the loudest), and I didn't even ask them why she was crying. It was through the gossip they were exchanging, for all to hear, how many times she had done IVF and still didn't get pregnant. Do they know the little gossip they find so entertaining a tragedy to someone else, and the worst of all very illegal? Smh This is only the most horrendous one my husband and I heard. I still go to this area for different doctor's visit, and every time I see the building Anderson and his staff are in, a small pit of fire in me ignites. I have had 3 failed IVFs and a reputable clinic in San Diego. When we moved to OC, we found Dr. Anderson. He recommended for me to test the embryo which was I never was told to by the other clinic. We had a successful IVF immediately. Dr. Anderson is so attentive and really cares for his patients. He is always there unlike the other Clinique where the doc was neve there. In reading a few of these reviews, I'll start off by saying that I don't care what anyone else says about Dr. Anderson. He told us he would get my wife pregnant and he did. Our son is now 5 months old and healthy as can be! This man and his team are our heroes and we couldn't be more grateful. Some complain about his bedside manner. If you're looking for someone to lie to you, hold you're hand, or pat you on the back, your not going to get that from Dr. Anderson. What you will get is someone who isn't going to BS you. He will tell it to you like it is and will give you the optimal direction to accomplish what anyone one of us coming here want.... a child. He's not here to be your buddy. He's not here to be emotionally attached to you. He's here to get your pregnant. Everyone's story for getting here is different and everyone's issues are not the same. Some will get pregnant, others won't. I completely understand the pain and sadness that comes with every failed attempt whether it's natural, IUI or IVF. My wife and I went through 8 years of it all including trying to adopt only for the agency we went with to file bankruptcy, where we lost everything we put into it. Dr. Anderson was our last attempt and he delivered. I strongly urge you to consider Dr. Anderson and his team. No one can promise you it will absolutely workout in the end but I can tell you for a fact, he is absolutely one of the best in the business and I believe his track record will agree with me. As my wife and I contemplate having a second child, if we do, you can bet we will be using Dr. Anderson. I wouldn't use anyone else. To all of you who are going through this, I wish you the best in your journey and hope all of you are as fortunate as my wife, son and I have been.
