FANTASTIC! I just went there to get my hair colored blonde. I am a mixed race female with very dark hair. While it did end up costing quite a bit, the color and cut came out PERFECTLY. I brought in a photo without a lot of expectation, but my wishes were exceeded. Not only is the color perfect on my skin tone, but the cut and bangs are to DIE FOR! My hair is so crazy kookie I didn't think they would be able to get it right. But after 22 years of having the same hairstyle I have fallen in love. They are upfont and honest about what you need to do to get what you want and how much it will take and they aren't going to let you leave the salon with an unattractive do! I haven't been back for a few years but my experience with Chris comes back to me every time I do my hair, so I decided to write about it. I am a licensed, retired hairdresser who has been getting Great Lengths hair extensions since first available to general public, for almost 3 decades, in NJ and FL. I was using 5 bundles of hair each containing 25 bonded sections within. When these sections of bonds are cut in half or 1/3's to apply there is clearly more hair to use. Price of each bundle varies depending on length 14, 16, 18 inch. Hair is usually displayed so client can see what was ordered, paid for when applied. The cost of the hair remained the same as I switched from 5 bundles to 4, and again when I went to from 16 inch to 14 inch as I began wearing my hair shorter. When I asked Chris about it, still charging me $2300. vs $1700. like in FL she said I always got 4 bundles which is untrue. I had a serious discussion in FL before making the decision for 4 bundles. I know there wasn't even 4 bundles applied to my head the last time I was with Chris. I counted them when I got home. The application was done in a 'mullet' pattern on my head. She did not go up high on sides as in past, used the 'curve of head' excuse. The hair was not displayed for me to see because she was pulling the hair out of a draw in her stand. I called and explained I was over charged again and had even less hair applied this time. I asked her to check her records as she still insisted I always got 4 bundles of hair. No, I started 4 bundles in FL. I asked her to check her records. She sent me photos of some papers that made no sense. For a salon owner she keeps terrible records on her clients. Other hairdressers have records of exactly what was ordered and paid for. This matter was never resolved. read more

Finding a good hair stylist today is a nightmare. With the shops in PA being closed, and returning from SC where the shops were closed as well. I overheard two women talking in a grocery store, one was clearly unhappy with her present stylist and the other recommended Rober Cris Salon, DE. With one call to Robert Cris Salon,left a message, within 1 hour I had an appointment two days later. The salon is immaculate, well spaced chairs and greeted by KEVIN...He was amazing, greeted me with a friendly hello, wearing a mask. We discussed my hair and my daily routine for hair care. I had my hair cut and styled by Alyssa in January and I LOVED it!! She gave me some great advice about taking biotin and collagen to help my hair grow and it really worked wonders for me. She listened to exactly what I wanted, and 100% followed through! I was so happy with the quality of the service I received, that I even purchased all of the products she used on my hair that day. I went to Robert Cris with high expectations, after reading all those great reviews. Sadly it didn't really work my way.. I wanted a short haircut (pixie style), but the stylist just didn't want to cut it further and didn't even recommend a style.. she simply cut it short (not as short as I would like) even after I asked her several times. My cut was complete within 20 mins (1 star for the timing) but I would not have had a problem if she would have invested more time styling it. Also she had real long nails that kept hurting my scalp. Ah-mazing. Start to finish, the entire experience was bliss. I didn't want to go home at the end. I wanted there to be more services! Desert! Finally, this is a place that actually does a consultation before they start applying products to your hair! And by consultation I don't mean the five minute conversation you have every time you go to a salon where they ask what you want to do "this time". I mean a real, fifteen minute discussion in a chair with great lighting where you discuss the condition of your hair, your concerns, the look you are trying to achieve, what cut is best suited for your face, etc... A real consultation! That is only the beginning - Lindsay was my stylist and she was incredible. She did so many little things right. And that is the difference. Most places today skip the little things because they don't want to waste the time or they think the client won't notice. But when someone does take the time do it right, we do notice - today I noticed enough to actually tell others about it and this place is spot on. read more

I've been dying my hair from a box for the last few months, so I knew I needed some serious help. Not to mention that my hair is insanely curly. I'd been referred to this salon from a friend and she always looks good so I wanted to try them out. Immediately when I pulled up their website I could tell that it was like nothing else in Delaware. I've only seen salons that look like this in NYC or Philly. Super modern and cool....not hoity toity old money Greenville but like somewhere you'd go in a WAY cooler city. I was super excited and called them up. The owner answered, which was a surprise and when I explained my hair and the problem, he booked me for a consultation BEFORE my appointment to make sure we did the right things to it and had enough time when I came in for service. The owner, Robert, answered was at the front desk again(?) and yeah, he's a looker. He introduces me to Cristy, and she is also insanely cute. Cristy has curly hair as well she tells me, although she doesn't wear it that way. She knew right away what type of style I wanted and even though she was totally swamped that Sat morning, she did a strand test on my hair to see if she could even color correct it at all and how it would look. I really appreciated that service, especially since they could have just booked me from the beginning. But that is the difference between this salon and others. They really go that extra mile to know what you want and do it perfectly. Needless to say I just came out of there with new color, cut and highlights and I've never been happier with my hair. The covid precautions are not good--stylists do not wear gloves as advertised, social distancing is not practiced, hair brushes are not sanitized between clients. There is a covid surcharge which I have now paid a couple of times which should cover the cost of the thermometer purchased for covid. Covid sanitizing between clients is not special--they should be doing anyway. I am very disappointed in the pricing--you never know what you will be charged. Would not recommend the salon. read more

Just moved to Wilmington and needed to find a local salon with talented stylists. I did a simple Google search and looked at several websites. I loved that they used cute baby pictures of their staff. I called and the receptionist was very helpful, listening to my concerns and answered all my questions. She said Alyssa would be a perfect match and that I'd be in good hands. They offered to do a free consultation but I just made the appt. When I got there, it was a gorgeous salon! And so contemporary! The took me right away. Alyssa was thorough and thoughtful. I felt so comfortable there that I gave her complete artistic license to do whatever. She added lowlights top my over processed blonde and gave my a flattering lob that was shorter in the back. I looked and felt great! It wasn't until I was in the separate shampoo room (that have the most comfortable sinks I've ever been in. So relaxing and Zen in there!) that I realized that she did the consultation at her station but I went into the coloring room for the chemical mixing and application...and there are no mirrors in there. SO smart, because nobody looks good getting color applied, lol,! She cut and styled me at her station, where the blow dryer hangs from the ceiling. Very cool. But the best had to be the price. I was expecting at least $200, what I would have easily paid in Philly, but it was a VERY reasonable $140! I had wanted to write a review since I was there but had been busy settling into my new city. I called Friday for an appt and I'm going back this Wednesday. I could have waited another week or so but I'll be traveling the whole month of October. I am grateful I found a salon I.feel welcome and get a trendy, chic look. I have been telling everyone smart a great experience I had. Go! And ask for Alyssa...tell her Alicia sent you. LOL read more

Very nice place! Everyone was wonderful! The only little thing is that I asked for my hair to be a couple of inches under my shoulder and she cut it above my shoulder. Maybe next time I should be more explicit about it. Other than that would def recommend! read more

I cannot thank Alyssa at Robert Cris enough! I've struggled getting the blonde color I want and I went to Salon by Dominic where I got a "bleach out" my hair was purple/ grey/ white. Then I noticed some blue and green in the back of my hair too. My co worked recently made the switch and went to Aylssa. She was so impressed and confident in her work. Telling me I need to go and have a consult which I kept blowing her off. I finally went and from the start Aylssa knew exactly how to properly treat my damaged hair while understand what color I want as a blonde. I went to her in July for my first highlight and I left so damn happy! I haven't been this happy in years. No one has been able to nail my blonde ! She introduced me to products that have helped me keep healthy hair. I just went to her last Friday for my second visit and I left once again happy I even let her chop off my hair ! The stylist was not wearing gloves and touched her own hair twice and used the comb on her own hair. Gave them a couple of chances but did not work out at all. First time there for a color and style asked to keep my hair wavy as i do not like pin-straight look, and hold and behold came out with a straight blow-out. Gave them a second chance and this time went in for a trim, asked to keep my cut in a V style in the back and the stylists had no clue how to cut it, so that tells me that they are not up to date with the current cuts/styles. They tried and ended up with uneven cut that even my husband noticed. When I went back to get it corrected the stylist said 'Oh it's not bad, if you leave your hair curly you can't tell", no apologies no nothing! I was heartbroken to leave my stylist in Austin when I moved back east. I had very high expectations. I tried going to Philly but it was a hassle and it wasn't worth the time or money. Both my parents go to the salon so I decided to give it a try. Cristy is great. She convinced me to give up Kertain treatments and embrace my natural texture. I LOVE going to this salon. It's tucked away in Greenville, DE, but not hard to find once you know where it is. In some salons, you hear gossiping among stylists or complaints about the management. Not here. Here, you leave your cares at the door, and the vibe is one of peace and happiness. Bethanne has been my stylist there for awhile now and she always gets my hair just right. Sadly, last time I had my hair done by a different stylist, she FRIED it. I had to get about 4 to 5 inches cut over a 1 month period of time. But stylist that cut my hair said it was due to the hair straightening. I did not report this to the owner(s) to give them a chance to fix the problem, but sure how much can be done when you overly process someone's hair to the point that you have to get it cut off. I found another stylist who did an AMAZING job and was so sure to keep my hair healthy. She was also certified in the product I use. read more

I went two weeks ago for a cut & color and am very pleased! I have dark brown hair and wanted to do something different with the coloring so went for a gray balayage. I am so happy with the results - Cristy worked with me over two days to ensure I had the perfect coloring and that I was happy with the results! AMAZING! I moved to Wilmington a year and a half ago leaving my stylist of 7 years.. I used a temporary salon for 6 months where I was not really happy with the results.. After searching on the internet for a last minute effort to find a salon, I came across Robert Cris and spoke to the owner Robert. He was awesome. He was able to get me in right before they closed the shop, I think even keeping it open after they closed for my stylist Amy to finish up. First off, I have never experienced the owner of a salon taking in a last minute new client and even keeping the salon open for me after they closed. Secondly, Amy is the most amazing stylist i have used before. She knows how to work with curly hair and she knows exactly what I want. The look of this salon is beautiful and modern. I just moved to the area from San Francisco. I was far more concerned with finding the perfect salon than finding a house. I have curly thick hair and I love the stylist who I had to sadly leave behind in California. Let me just say that Cristy exceeded my expectations. I had very long hair and wanted to make sure the stylist liked working with long hair. Awesome salon, great staff, meticulous with hair! i moved here from Denver, CO and it took my a long time to find a local stylist that i loved. AMY JOHNSON is a color magician and is the sweetest and kindest person EVER!. I have blonde highlights and was previously getting 7 different colors and she transformed my hair with only 2 colors, lots of patience, and got it super healthy again. The prices are very reasonable and the service is outstanding. AMY always has assistants on hand to help with shampoo etc so she can focus on her top talent: HAIR COLOR and cuts. Also i have long hair and am.. well... pretty high maintenance when it comes to my hair. She asked me to come in for a consult before she ever did anything to my hair to make sure we would be on the same page and i have never been happier with my hair style or hair color. also STACEY at the front desk is a gorgeous red head with a glowing smile and always confirms every appointment in advance. I can't say enough good things about this place! All of the staff are extremely friendly. I have been using Amy for at least 2/3 years now and she is the only person who gives me really good hair cuts. She understand my hair and cuts it very well to match my look. AMY is the BEST!!!!!! The room where you get your hair rinsed is fantastic. It's calming and soothing and you just want to fall asleep. Only thing I don't like is sometimes the people washing and massaging your head are not always gentle and it feels abrasive and rough. But not all the time it just depends on who it is. The place itself looks very high end and is clearly well maintained. It's always clean and fresh. The staff are very helpful too. They also ask if you need anything or want any water. They clearly are there to serve you and that going the extra mile really makes you feel like they are putting in an effort and care about you. Not just because you are paying good money to be there. I feel that I must write the review on Robert Cris as I am absolutely thrilled the way we've been treated. My daughter had her hair dyed last week and unfortunately the color did not come out the way she wanted. The stylist was probably not experienced enough, but hey - anybody could make a mistake in the beginning of their career. Anyway - the owners, other stylists, Stacey - the front desk girl - did everything possible and impossible to correct the situation and make us happy. This is kind of service you wish you can get, when the whole place cares, when customer is the main focus, when there is an amazing experienced staff who is willing and happy to perform wonders. Long story short - my daughter is happy, Yvette has a magic touch, and I am sure that this is the beginning of the long term relationship.
