Today I woke up and decided I needed a haircut. I needed a haircut today. Here's the problem, I live in DC and I'm visiting Delaware. I don't know any black hair stylist in Delaware. So I let my handy dandy yelp lead me to Babe styling studio. I was amazed that I was able to get a same day appointment with Ebon! I just wanted my curly hair cut dry. He was professional and I explained what I wanted done and he invited me to have a seat in his chair. But this was no ordinary chair It looked like a throne. I couldn't help but comment about it and he said that's because I take care of Queens. On my next visit I'm going to get low lights can't wait to return. Do yourself a favor make an appointment. read more

I visited this salon several times a few years ago so when I was looking for a stylist that could give me a "special" cut I immediately thought of this salon. I went in for a relaxer, cut, and color. I showed the stylist a photo of the cut and asked if they could do it. They said yes and I immediately was excited. When I was done my hair looked nothing like the photo. I was not happy, but I still made an appointment for the following week. I woke up the next morning with my hair stuck to my scalp! They did not rinse all of the relaxer out of my hair. It was still relaxer in my hair. I had sores in the back of my hair and chemical burns on my edges. I had to reach out to my old stylist to correct the damage that the stylist did to my hair. Thankfully she was able to salvage most of my hair in the back of my head. Unfortunately, this could have been avoided if they based my hair prior to the relaxer and washed all of the relaxer out of my hair. read more

I've only been here once. I scheduled online. When I walked in they kept asking what I was in for which confused me because I'd put it down when I made the appointment. I wanted single process highlights and they gave me double processed highlights which was more money. Then they gave them to me just around the top of my head which looked "okay" but not what I wanted. The color was a light brown but I wanted a coppery red. Every time I tried to go back, I tried to schedule an appointment and couldn't get a hold of anyone on the phone, mailbox full and walking in to schedule an appointment was a no go because everyone was "working." I would've liked to give them a second try but just couldn't get an appointment. read more

I made a same day appointment with BEBE! My waiting was minimal. I was shampooed, blow dry and flat ironed and on my way in about an hour and a half. Parking on street with the meters cooperating. Great experience. read more

Ebon and the team are amazing. I've been coming to Ebon fo over 15 years. The salon is clean and beautifully styled. Perfect for selfies after it's done. Ebon is a great stylist who can make hair magic. I love my hair and get nervous letting people cut it, but Ebon is excellent at creating styles perfect for me. I'm so grateful for the team! read more

They did an amazing job! I just wanted my hair washed, blow dried and my ends trimmed because I was getting braids. I was able to get a last minute appointment and my hair came out really nice. They made sure to clean my scalp and every time I go there I get great service. read more

Found this salon while scrolling the discovery tab on Instagram. From the Seattle area and new to Delaware so I've been desperately looking for a home salon. I made an appointment for myself and my daughter for early Saturday morning. I appreciated that I could book online. It helped to look at the artists' work on Instagram so I would know who to book with. To be honest, everyone at this salon appears to be exceptionally skilled (based on pics). Unfortunately my appointment was canceled because the person I booked with was going to be out of town and there was a mix up with the scheduling system. I still dropped my daughter off to get her hair done bright and early Saturday morning. When we arrived the receptionist greeted us happily and was very nice. My daughter's stylist wasn't there yet so an assistant took her back to get her washed/blow dried. I appreciated this because there's nothing worse than time wasted from sitting and waiting hours for a stylist to get to you (Black women understand this struggle). However despite the stylist being late, everyone else moved swiftly to make sure my daughter was in and out of there quickly. Will definitely return!!! I went back and got a custom color/trim from CaDeidra!! So worth the amount of time I had to wait (coloring is a hell of a process). Glad I found a new home salon! read more

Babe Styling Studios - Custom color and trim by CaDeidra!!! Love it! I only showed her the picture once and she nailed it! - Hair Salons Near Me - Wilmington, Delaware

I will start with the good: everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The not so good: I am just sad that I am the one to have the bad experience out of all these lovely experiences here. I got rescheduled four times -- the first time they had no record of my consultation, so I had to go back. the second time they asked me to do an online appointment - which I did; so they called me to tell me that day doesn't work. The third time they called me to say that I need to come at 5:00 instead of my 5:30 appointment (I agreed and came back from work earlier than usual) and then when I reached there I was again rescheduled to finally have a haircut at 5:50 PM. My hair stylist was a pleasant gentleman, I showed him exactly what I wanted (a picture) and explained verbally what I was expecting. I'm almost blind so once I take off my glasses I cannot see ANYTHING. My hair was clean but dry: I have been to a fair share of salons in different states and countries and never has anyone started a haircut without dampening my hair. My stylist started my cut without even putting a drop of water on my hair. Then he proceeded to just start chopping off without even brushing through my hair once. I am not the expert or a professional so I just assumed this must be his style. I had specifically said I don't want shorter hair in the front since my hair is frizzy and wavy and I am just not sure if it was my choice of words or accent but everything that happened was opposite of what I had asked for. I look like a pomerian dog, my hair is two different lengths in the front and they are super short and frizzy. My hair length is half of what it was (I asked for an inch or two to be chopped off and I had waist length hair) and this look can only be described as homeless. I am definitely upset but more than that just surprised at other people's positive experiences. I'm a city girl and no points for guessing where I'll be going next time to get a real haircut. My tip for anyone who still wants to go here: Get in before 4 PM. Maybe then they wont be in a rush to leave and will give you the attention your hair deserves. read more

My favorite place in Wilmington for a blow dry, sexy bouncy curly ringlets. They provide many services relaxers, hair weave, color, makeup etc. The stylist are edgy and very talented. This salon has such a cool trendy vibe. The owner Ebon is fantastic. He Is going to be the next Ted Gibson. YVonne the Salon creative director is super friendly. She always greets me when I arrive at the salon. The styling assistance are so professional and they do an awesome job blow drying my hair. I have only dealt with Joia and dejai they are both awesome. http://BABESTYLINGSTUDIOS.COM/contact read more

I got an excellent haircut by Ebon and a great deep condition treatment by one of the salon assistants (I can't remember her name). The salon is clean, spacious, and well lit. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about different hair types/styles. The prices are beyond reasonable. They have an online booking system, so you can book an appointment when they're closed-- that's what I did. If you're in the area or live a couple of hours away, I highly recommend this place. If it's your first time here, I'd recommend doing something that I didn't do -- call ahead of time and describe what you want done, so you can be paired with a stylist. They have a lot of online photos but, not all of the photos indicate which stylist worked on the hair. After looking at some of cuts done by Ebon, I booked an appointment with him. Though, my hunch is that any stylist would have done an excellent job. He did a deva cut w/asymmetrical bangs on my natural hair. FYI-- You can pay for your hairstyle using cash and credit. Tipping is cash only. They have an ATM machine inside, the fee is $1.75. If you want to avoid banking fees, make sure you bring enough money for tip. read more

I used to drive all the way to Philly to get my hair done. Luckily, a friend told me about Babe a few months into my move to Wilmington. I absolutely LOVE this salon. As soon as I walked in a knew I was in good hands. The salon is clean and each of the stylists looked well put together and fashionable. I am very protective of my hair and its length. My stylist Eric was friendly, took his time, and gave me a blow-out like I've never had before. I highly recommend Babe if you care about the health of your hair and the best finish! read more

Over all experience was good! The employees were all friendly and professional and the owner who was also my stylist was very warm, professional and worked quickly but did a good job. What made this not great was the long wait but the owner did address this and assure me this wouldn't be a normal experience and he apologized for my wait. I appreciated that and it made me feel like he appreciated and wanted my business. I really love the cut the stylist Ebon gave me but I wish he got my roots better since I have natural hair and need a little more heat closer to the scalp. But we will see how it holds up overall and next time I will specifically request more heat at my roots. Love to support black businesses and if the hair holds up I will definitely return! Also the salon itself is beautiful with comfortable wash chairs and bowls and modern styling! Keep up the great work! read more

Babe Styling Studios - Long layers and press - Hair Salons Near Me - Wilmington, Delaware

Store was cute as far as looks goes. But empty as far as workers. The one who did my hair was the only one there. Which was strange but okay. Umm upon entering the store no one was at the front desk to greet me so my husband had to kind of search for someone ... lol anyone. Anyways long story short I spent majority of my appointment waiting . And waiting and waiting . The guy had me sit with conditioner in my hair way longer then needed to the point where my neck was hurting & he never checked on me or made sure I was comfortable or anything. Not a fan of that . Also not to mention this is my first time in this state and city( I drove 22 hrs to get here.. ) and I just really wanted to find someone who I could trust with my hair. The guy who did my hair was very rough . My scalp felt like it was BLEEDING HONEY.. it was sore and exhausted just like me by the end of my appointment. I feel like he rushed everything he did. And not to mention I thought I payed for a silk press... not just a regular degular flat iron I could have done by myself. My hair was actually puffy and standing up not even 4 hours after leaving . I showed him a picture of how I wanted , but idk I guess he was distracted by all of his other friends and clients that he spent the whole time talking to instead of taking his time & paying attention to me. Specially with it being my first time .. oh yeah I. Pretty sure he spent more time face timing people while doing my hair than actually flat ironing... I just wish I had a good first experience and I did not I also Am sad about my hair it only lasted for one day ....... it looks horrible and when I asked if he could just style it with a part he almost got a attitude. Because he was in a hurry to leave .. so yeah 50$ down the drain.. I really hope that just because I am from out of town and never had my hair done was not the reason why he just did something quick so he could go home..but thanks for the shampoo n condition ... read more

If I could give a lower rating I would. PLEASE spare yourself the trouble and DO NOT GO to this place. Most of the "stylists" appear to be brought in off the street with NO TRAINING, NO LICENSE, doing HAIR. Yes, that is what I said, chemical relaxers and all. Go ANYWHERE else unless you want and need hair drama in your life. Most of the female "stylist's" have been working there for less than one month. Neither the "manager" nor "owner" could care less what their non-trained, unlicensed, street people do to your hair. They should be shut down for the safety of the public. read more

I was looking for a place to get a sew-in and found Babe based on reviews. It was great to be able to make the appointment online and I appreciated the reminders via text. At the salon, I was greeted very warmly. My stylist was Shanique and she was amazing. From the time she washed my hair to the time I exited her chair, everything was fabulous. Clearly, she is serious about her craft. She also showed me how to preserve the style. I would definitely recommend this salon! read more

This was my first time there and I loved it 100% recommend this place. It was clean, tidy, and everyone there was nice and actually cared about giving me what I wanted unlike other salons I've gone too because I have mixed hair. I've been to this salon a few times and have recommended it to some family and frienss. This hair salon is really one of the best hair salons in the Wilmington area. I've gotten my natural hair twisted and dyed here and I'm a very satisfied customer. I don't go to many hair salons but I love the recommendations they give you on what's best for your hair. I'm new to Delaware and not only is it difficult to find a great salon in a new place, but it is also difficult for me to trust anyone with my hair and because of that my hair was broken off at the crown and extremely dry overall. Babe brought my hair back to life! A special thanks to Ebon for a straight forward consultation and a sexy haircut! The Babe team is professional and personable from the time you walk in the door to the time you walk out. I'm so glad that I now belong the Babe Family!! read more

Great experience !! I was visiting from out of town and needed a blow out. Friendly staff, great music and a nice vibe.

My experience at Babes was truly a breath of fresh air! Everyone was very professional and team players (The staff was short assistants so the front desk receptionist jumped right in to assist the stylists), while still holding down the front and maintaining her pleasant disposition. Courtney was amazing (I wanted to put him in my packet and take him home!) He's funny, fast but still thorough and Professional, at one point while Courtney was styling me, I asked if he needed me to hold my ear, he responded with almost with a chuckle " no, this is what I do", It hasn't been my experience to get a great cut and stellar service, I have always had to compromise one or the other so I am extremely happy that I was recommended to BABES, I will be returning again and again, actually let me get off of here and make my next appointment now... P.S. The massage chair in the shampoo area is so a sweet plus! read more

I FINALLY found a reliable salon. Eric was great and everyone was very welcoming! I was also impressed with the organization, price transparency, and cleanliness of the salon. I thought the prices were more than reasonable and I didn't have to spend my entire day in the salon. There's not enough good things I can say, but I'm looking forward to going back! read more

My second time visiting this studio was not pleasant at all. I had an appointment scheduled in which I arrived on time, was sat at the bowl and was not shampooed until an hour later. No one bothered to ask me if I was assisted while sitting at the shampoo bowl, except for a stylist who finally noticed I wasn't being assisted. After the shampoo assistant blowdryed my hair (an hour after I arrived, and said I'm sorry I had other things to do), I was told to sit in the front to wait because my stylist had two other clients before me to finish. I ended up leaving. I would have appreciated if the receptionist and stylist would have apologized for the inconvenience of having me wait because of overbooking, but no one did.It sucks because I am new to the area and it's hard to find a great salon. read more
