House of Colour is different. Very clean, from the entrance to the bathroom, and kind personnel who know its job. The colour they did is perfect and the stylist who did my cut, Bryan, was not very quick, as he is young and some skills come only after years of experience... but he is talented: give him more time and he will be remarkable! I have a particular cut, very geometric, and he refreshed it exactly as I asked. Last but not least: between all the salons I contacted (I suffer from psoriasis at the scalp so I look only for well known and secure tint brands) this is the cheaper one, and after the experience I can say that the ratio quality/price is very good, for a quite expensive city like Dublin... in any case, to get an idea, you can check the prices on their website! To reassume the review in one word: RECOMMENDED! P.S. May I say that HoC website needs an update in terms of design and contents?

You get asked if you would like a complimentary hand massage while your hair is being washed and an eye pack while your head is being massaged. Nice! The salon is super clean and very well maintained. 5 stars to House of Colour on D'Olier Street

The reason I am leaving this review is because I sent an email regarding my concerns and nobody got back to me which is so unprofessional. I went in looking for a fringe and a few long layers and my hair was pretty long to be told my forehead was too short for a fringe. I did explain twice that I had one before and I loved it but again I was told it wouldn't work so I accepted that and was told then that I would have 2-3 inches taken off my hair as I expressed more than once I wanted the length left and that was fine as I knew it needed a little off it but there was way more than 3 inches taken off. I was told I would have long bangs at the side but I don't. It just looks all uneven in the front when it's straightened. It's far too thinned out and Sharon explained she wasn't thinning it but adding layers underneath so that it would sit nice when I blowdryed it. I also explained the one thing I didn't want was my hair cut straight across and that's exactly what I got. There is nothing positive I can say about my hair. It is ruined and I have a wedding in 6 weeks. I am now going to have to spend a lot of money to get hair extensions in. I didn't say anything when I was there because I was trying not to cry when I saw the end result. My partner just gasped when he saw it. I can honestly say I trusted that going to your salon and paying €112 that your head stylist knew what she was doing. I'm beyond upset. I certainly won't be returning and I didnt want to leave a negative review but this is just awful. Reveonna

I would like to think that the company would see people who buy vouchers as an opportunity to gain future custom, obviously not in this salon. I also didn't like being asked where I usually get my hair done. When my hair was finished the amount of spots they missed or started a good inch from my head at the front was unbelievable and surly the lady drying it should have noticed and said something. They never toned it so looked a bit brassy from the get go. Would never go back or recommend anyone to go here.

I used the same stylist for 2 years, then she left. I floated around and used several others until I latched onto David who always does what I ask and makes my hair look fab. It used to be quite a hopping place, but is a bit quieter of late. Recession I suppose. On the upside, means I can generally get an appointment when I want.

A great improvement from the school upstairs…read more Last year, I had a very poor experience at the school. The student was lousy and the supervisor was too busy to supervise properly. I left with more of a 'trim' than a cut, and an uneven one at that. In a mad contrast, Lunatic Fringe was probably the best hairdressing experience I've had in Ireland. At a reasonable price, I had my hair styled exactly as I wanted. No attempt to quicken the job using an electric razor or other such nonsense. Denise came highly recommended and has actually won an award. She was very friendly and not-rushed. Even with my poor instructions, she was able to understand what I wanted - as if I was speaking fluent hair-speak.

I've been getting my hair cut with Deirdre for about 3 years. I don't get my hair cut very often,…read moremaybe 3 times a year at most, mostly because I can't decide on one hairstyle and am forever growing it thinking I want it long then heading to the hairdresser for a right chop. Deirdre has been great in styling my hair to my needs. I decided to go natural for a few months and stop straightening my hair, she cut it for wavy and the odd straight day. She has also not been shy to advise me against certain styles and suggest others. She listens to me in the consultation and is the only hairdresser (bar one of her stylists) I have come across who actually listens to me and does what I want. Now, she is on the pricey side, €50 for a cut, which I didn't think was that bad, but friends tell me that they wouldn't pay that much. I find that the styles she has given me, though, grow out quite well and therefore I don't need to go back for months on end. My mum uses this service every 8 weeks or so for a cut and colour. My sister also goes to Deridre for a cut, only about as often as me (4 months-ish) and we have all found ourselves going back to this salon with a greater loyalty than to any other.
