I am someone who grew up not liking to visit the dentist, I guess it was because we had these mean dental nurses in my school that made me really afraid of any dentist. Through recommendation by my bestie, I started going to Dr Feil in 2009. I still remember my first experience. The staffs at the front desk were friendly and welcoming. My first visit was not without any pain, it was not this practice's fault but my previous hygienist/dentist who did not do a proper job cleaning my teeth. So Albert the hygienist needs to do a deep cleaning. Since that first time I am no longer scared of going for my routine cleaning. I love Albert cos he is so funny and made me very at ease. Dr Feil is very friendly and honest. I refer a friend who suddenly developed a crack on her crown, her dentist wanted to charge her over a thousand to replace that crown. Dr Feil gave her a free consultation and examination. He advised her to go back to her dentist. Her dentist should not charge her anything since a crown less than a year usually comes with a warranty. He said if she insisted not to return to her old dentist, the crown will cost her about $800 at his practice but he said the best thing to do is to go back and talk to her dentist. I do not think some reviews here are fair. If one does not look after his/her teeth and have dental issues, one has to endure the pain or discomfort that came with that one visit which helped to correct those issues. If I have gone to another practice after my first visit at Dr. Feil's and that other practice did not cause me pain, it is not because this other practice is better but just that the visit at Dr. Feil has corrected the issue and I had to pay a price for the fault of my previous hygienist/dentist. read more

Today was the third appointment IN A ROW that I have walked into Dr Feil's office after taking off work and driving 30+ minutes to Buckhead to find out that Dr Feil did not come in for the day and I was notified as I was pulling into the parking lot. I have been a patient for more than 20 years, but you can bet I will not be back. Not sure what happened to this practice, but I am quite sure Dr Feil would not tolerate his own behavior from a patient or one of his staff. read more

Dr. Feil has been my dentist for many years. He always does a great job with my regular visits but I especially like that he is willing to carve out time when I need to see him for a simple fix between appointments. As someone who was a patient of Dr. Feil's for more than twenty years, I can tell you that things have changed and not necessarily for the better. In the last few years of seeing Dr. Feil, I increasingly felt rushed out the door and less interest in my oral health. The quality of work is not what is once was and the front office is not very empathetic when calling in with an immediate concern. Seriously, when appointments for cleanings and checkups are made so far in advance, why else would an existing patient call? The value of a dentist, I feel, isn't the service you receive with routine visits like cleanings and checkups, but when things aren't right (i.e. pain, tooth damage, immediate and unexpected concerns, etc.). Anyhow, I recently called the office to cancel an upcoming appointment. They asked me why and I explained how a resin composite on a specific tooth had failed for the second time and I was thinking it was time for me to go. I was trying express my displeasure in a gentle way. Rather than offer to find a time slot to have the tooth repaired or have the doctor give me a call to discuss, they simply responded "I will let the office manager know." Never was I asked if I was in pain or discomfort. So that, my friends, is how a 20+ patient is treated. I was just a file to be "closed" - their words, not mine. The last minute cancellations are not an isolated thing. I, too, received a last minute cancellation literally as I was pulling into their parking lot. It was an afternoon appointment, so there were plenty of opportunities to call or text. Not that hard, right? My advice? There are a lot of great practices in Atlanta to choose from and you will probably be much happier elsewhere, especially if you're needs extend beyond annual cleanings and checkups. If you have special needs or high maintenance teeth, this might not be the place for you. Regarding Albert, he is superb. He takes his work very seriously and manners are above par. If his name were on the door, I am sure I wouldn't have written any of this. Peace. read more

In the mid-2000s, when the practice was still growing and at a different location, Dr. Feil was probably the most incredibly kind and pleasant dentist I'd ever met. My partner and I went to his practice regularly for cleanings and for my partner's filling maintenance. He was absolutely fantastic! Something changed drastically for the worse when the practice moved to its current location. My partner needed a bridge fixed and some front tooth fillings seriously reworked. We talked to Dr. Feil about what we needed done and what we could reasonably afford, and simply the talk of affordability seemed to annoy, even repulse, him. His attitude towards patients without freely flowing pocketbooks seemed to range between disdain and contempt. Dr. Feil pushed hard for a multi-year plan of bridgework and caps/veneers and bonding for the front teeth. I explained multiple times that we could not afford that much extra expense over dental insurance (which never pays much anyway). He begrudgingly agreed to do standard filling work and plan for some bridgework that year and next to spread out insurance payments. My alarm bells were set off by that, but my partner needed the fixups and went ahead with it. Based on his changed attitude, we should have run away, fast, to another practice. Dr. Feil proceeded to grind down the front teeth far more drastically than agreed, exposing nerve endings to air, then put in (frankly) temporary-quality fillings. He explained that he expected to replace them with caps in a future year for insurance purposes -- after we previously made it clear that we would not likely be able to afford the cost of caps when that came time. A few years later, the fillings are coming out (not unexpected) and need replacement. The exposed nerves from overzealous grinding are going crazy. My partner is going to have to go to a different practice to get more radical tooth repair done now, and it's likely going to have to be paid for on credit debt. It's possible that at this point, many more teeth will have to be pulled and replaced wholesale with implants or bridges. If you are well off enough that you don't experience sticker shock, Dr. Feil will probably treat you like royalty. If you have a tight budget, avoid. He no longer has patience, for patients who have to watch their wallets. read more

My visit to Dr. Feil's office a few months ago was a real disappointment. Dr. Feil came highly recommended by a number of friends and colleagues in the Atlanta area. After hearing such glowing feedback, I decided to make an appointment here a few months ago. Needless to say, my experience did not live up to expectations. The front office staff was extremely warm and friendly, so I felt comfortable upon walking in. But when I went back to the exam room for my routine cleaning, I learned that the "Gentle Dentistry" tagline is rather misleading - from getting x-rays to having my teeth cleaned, I felt uncomfortable and at times in pretty severe pain. The hygienist who performed the cleaning was rather rough and aggressive. He also repeatedly told me that the bleeding in my mouth was not normal to the point where I felt that I was being reprimanded like a child. I know that my few times a week flossings aren't quite up to par with dental professional standards, but I have had regular cleanings with not nearly this much sass and pain and struggle. Dr. Feil was pleasant enough, but I was feeling too much pain and frustration to appreciate anything that he was saying to me. I felt that my visit could have been much more cordial and positive. The only plus from the experience? I got my act together at the advice of the aggressive hygienist and bought an electronic toothbrush to minimize the gum issues. Since my not-so-pleasant visit to Dr. Feil, I have switched over to Dental TLC and could not be more thrilled with my decision! read more

I've been going to Dr. Feil for about 4 years now, and while I still do have a good experience with him, there have been some changes within the office and things that have disappointed me lately. The last few visits I've felt very rushed - I don't think he was in there with me for more than 2 minutes before he zipped on out of the office. I go to my checkups every 6 months religiously, so I figured if he gave me a clean bill of health then fine - no need to chitchat. Unfortunately, there was a deeper problem that began a long list of very expensive and painful treatments. He recommended two other specialists to work on the problem areas, but they both stated that these things really should have been identified much sooner. Maybe it was just a fluke, and I do intend on going back to finish up the final work, but I'm sad to say that I'm now very wary of the attention to detail that Dr. Feil is giving. read more

I have some serious dentist anxiety. This dentist is very pleasant, and the dental technician who has worked on my teeth twice so far was very sweet. What is destroying my good experience with this dentist is their scheduling. I made an appointment with them for a procedure that was going to take two visits, but I just made one appointment - they put me down in their books for two, without asking me whether the second date and time would work for me, or even telling me they'd scheduled it! I didn't find out about it until a few weeks after scheduling the first appointment. They do charge fees for missed or late-canceled appointments. I was supposed to go to the first of those two appointments, the one I made, today. They just called me to confirm the second one, next week. Today's appointment? No record of it. They gave it to someone else. I have to really mentally prepare myself to go to the dentist and this runaround is putting me on edge, not to mention forcing me to move meetings at work to fit their schedule. It is utterly unprofessional. Support staff is easy to overlook, but is absolutely critical to the overall quality of the service. read more

(UPDATED: see below) Let me throw out a few caveats before I post about my experiences here: I'm a busy person and have to take time off from my day job to go to the dentist. Like most of you, I'm sure I'm about average when it comes to teeth cleaning. I brush in the morning and at night and floss a couple of times a day. But I'm not a fanatic. In short, I don't set the bar incredibly high as far as dental care. As long as my teeth are in good shape and still in my mouth, I'm good. Unfortunately, Dr. Feil's office failed to meet even my low expectations. Dr. Feil cancelled on me twice, the day of my appointment. I found that to be inconsiderate since I usually have to make arrangements to have time free to go, and because I am expected to show up on time. Another thing that bothered me was the time it took to diagnose and treat a cavity. Partly this is my fault. I had a (major) personal event come up shortly after my cavity was discovered and life just got in the way. After being scolded for I don't know how many minutes about not handling my issue in a timely fashion (a scolding that came from the gatekeepers of time, oddly enough), I explained I had a personal issue that kept me from getting it taken care of sooner. I found the staff oddly unsympathetic, but whatever, I'm not going there for a heart-to-heart. So we finally get round to setting up the appointment with the specialist, an endodontist. That went as well as can be expected. The specialist said he would fax my records over to Dr. Feil who would set up an appointment to fill the cavity. The specialist's appointment was in August. I don't know who dropped the ball there, but I am going to assume it was Feil's office staff based on the pattern of behavior. Today I called Feil's office and politely explained that I had a new dentist and asked if they could send my records over. They said they'd email them. They never did (the endodontist emailed his records, though). The office staff is a mixed bag. Some of them are friendly but the first tech who cleaned my teeth reminded me of my high school gym coach. As I've said, I'm not a fanatic about my teeth but I also CARE about their condition. So that was off putting, for sure. Going to the dentist gives a lot of people anxiety. I get some, but if I was really high-strung about it I would not want to be treated that way. Bottom line for me: my cavity is still an issue and it has been a year since it was diagnosed. I'm approaching critical mass, but I am getting it taken care of. I'll cop to my role in the debacle. At the end of the day, it's my responsibility to get these things fixed and look out for my health. Let's just say Dr. Feil's office hindered my treatment more than they helped and that I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who isn't retired or unemployed. I came across Dr. Feil through a referral at my job. I've had the same dentist for 10 years, so I was a little hesitant once I moved to Atlanta. I had a very good experience with the office staff and the tech that took my xrays. Dr. Feil was very personable, and his staff gets a thumbs up. I got my teeth cleaned and filled out their survey once I got home. I had a few issues/questions, and by the next morning, I received a call to correct the issues I had. I can not say how pleased I was with this. My husband was with me and they even took his xrays, even though his appt was at a later date. I definitely recommend this office. My biggest pet peeve is having an appt and waiting around for an hour to be seen. This was not the case here. So they are a winner in my book. read more

Hmm weird I thought I had reviewed Dr. Feil's office. Being the Duchess should explain why I love him. Love a Dentist? Yes i do! Ive been going to him for about 2 years and late last year, I got frustrated due to them being able to get me in for an appointment while in pain so I ventured off the path of light. I ran back to them ASAP and they welcomed me back with open arms. I've had about 7 fillings done with them and many cleanings. I have been referred to an Oral Surgeon for more complex work even though there are other offices that do all procedures in their office. I don't mind. They make me feel welcome and I don't feel like they just want my money. I refer everyone to them. I guess I really shouldn't so they don't get TOO busy for me but it's all good! :D read more

I just had to update my already 5-star review, because I've been going to Dr. Feil for 2 years now, and I just had my first root canal. Normally that procedure induces dread, and I have heard my share of horror stories. So, in spite of my absolute trust in Dr. Feil's dentistry skills, I was a nervous wreck...and it showed! So Dr. Feil sat me down and explained the entire procedure to me and made sure I felt comfortable before proceeding. (I'm sure the gas helped calm me down, too.) While the root canal was not a super awesome fun thing, Dr. Feil did a super awesome job... and it really wasn't a bad/scary/painful experience by any means. Seriously. I was so surprised! So, an extra 5 stars for Dr. Feil and his kindness. The staff are all fantastic, too - scheduling appointments is easy, and everyone is friendly and professional. read more

THANK YOU YELPERS FOR RECOMMENDING DR. FEIL!!! I am new to Atlanta so I look to Yelp as my guide for the best restaurants, services and of course doctor and dentist. I had my first visit to Dr. Feil this afternoon and I am VERY HAPPY! I have dentist phobia and have a low pain threshold. Julie was very adept in x-raying my mouth --- she got everything right the first time around and took care to explain everything she was doing, to quell my fears. I appreciated that she took time to ask me personal questions, which made me feel that I am not just another set of teeth for their dental clinic. Dr. Feil is very pleasant and also took time to answer my questions fully. As this was my first visit, it was more of a regular check-up and Dr. Feil recommended a visit to a periodontist, same one that he recommended to his mother. Erica at reception is another darling! When I confessed that I am scared of dentists, she and Julie immediately assured me that they will take good care of me. They live up to their claim of "gentle dentistry". I had a perfectly fine visit to Dr. Feil's office, and would not hesitate to recommend him to friends also looking for a new dentist (in fact, I already have). However, my hygienist was a little rushed and not the best at making conversation. During my college years I was a little lax in getting my twice yearly cleanings, and I guess it showed because I've never been so admonished for not flossing. He certainly did a good job shaming me into submission! Dr. Feil himself was absolutely fantastic. He was very kind and calming, especially after I was slightly terrified at the horrific dental procedures that were sure to await me per my hygienist's warnings. He gave me some good recommendations for a follow up visit to a periodontist, and also told me that he thought we could avoid the 3x year visits the hygienist thought I needed by just implementing some extra brushing. Everything was billed correctly to my insurance, and I appreciated the follow up survey that I received via email. Dr. Feil's office is a perfectly competent one that I will continue to use, but I didn't have the rosy "I used to hate dentists and now I don't" experience that other yelpers have had. read more

I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Feil's office. Everyone was very nice and very helpful. The only bad part about my visit was that I showed up 10 minutes early and had to wait 15 minutes past my appointment time while there was no one in the waiting room. I would deduct half a star for that part. The person that cleaned my teeth was extremely thorough and my teeth felt so clean. Not a spot of coffee stain on my teeth! Dr. Feil was so nice and really listened to my questions and concerns and didn't make me feel rushed at all. He even walked me to the receptionist and pulled out my chair! How nice is that?! Bob Feil is a nice guy, but his skills are questionable !! I had a crown done by him and it only lasted 3 and a half years !! Now I need an implant due to the shoddy work. He is also very expensive !! If you're going down on a list to find a dentist, save yourself a lot of trouble and keep going down on the list and find a decent dentist. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE!! This has been the worst dental experience I have ever had. I came in with no pain and a chipped tooth, and after several appointments the small problem had become a much bigger issue. Because of this dentist's work, I was in a lot of unnecessary pain and now my bite is crooked. The office did not fix this issue or apologize. I had to make an appointment with another dentist and spend more money repairing the shoddy work done on my tooth. read more

Went to Dr. Feil not too long ago for a cleaning and exam. I must say that I was very disappointed with Dr. Feil. He didn't even exam my mouth. He kind of glanced in it, listened to what the hygenist had to say and zoomed out of the office. He was in there for look 1.5 minutes. WTH? His hygenist gets 2 thumbs up though. She did a great job with cleaning and examining my mouth. I think him and his office staff are creating all these fake super fantastic profiles that are raving about how good he is cause it's NOT TRUE. I go and always have gone to the dentist twice a year, every year. Opposing pain, as opposed to my desire to avoiding cavities, has always been the motivating factor of my diligence. Due to residential moves, I have had a number of Dentists/Hygienists and I consider myself a bit of a dental connoisseur. The Hygienist, Albert, was thorough indeed. My mouth has never felt cleaner. He put the fear of Jesus in me about my frequency of flossing (1x per week), and I have made amends since that appointment. I was also enlightened about my tendency to clench my teeth. On a side-note, I've never heard of a "clencher." I have friends that grind their teeth but clenching is not something I was aware of. A mouth guard was deemed not necessary by Dr Feil, but it's nice to know they have their eyes on this. I was very happy with my experience. I was in and out in a reasonable time and trust Dr Feil & his staff immensely. read more

I made the mistake of going to a different dentist out of convenience and boy did I learn my lesson. After having a bad experience and being told I needed a ton of dental work done, Dr. Feil welcomed me back to the practice without any awkwardness and is approaching my treatment in a much more conservative- and less expensive- manner. Dr. Bob is a nice guy, and seems to know his stuff, however this isn't really a place for "gentle" dentistry. He jabbed my nerve several times during a routine numbing injection prior to a filling - and seemed a little annoyed when I winced in pain. His hygienist staff is not much better. I went for a cleaning and the woman had me soaked with some new cleaning tool - there was cleaning paste in my hair, on my clothing and all over my face. She was pretty aggressive and not at all "gentle" :( I'm 50 yrs old and will tell you that I've never had an experience like this in all of my years at the dentist. I won't be going back. read more

I had the absolute worst experience with this dentist. I found the information for getting my teeth whitened on the Philips zoom website. I was excited, because the dentist is literally one block from me. I called to book the appointment and had a great first phone call. The lady on the phone suggested that I get my teeth cleaned before the treatment. I was told it would be $90 without the x-ray or $128 with. I booked the appointment, as well as the teeth whitening package. I was so excited. I took a half day off of work in order to make this appointment happen. This morning I received a phone call from their office. Apparently they hadn't received my paperwork. The office manager said that my appointment was $228. She was SO rude and continuously said, "you got wrong information; that's not my problem". She canceled my appointment and literally hung up the phone when I asked to speak to the dentist. I'm hoping Dr. Feil sees this, as I would love to share how this scenario went down. He needs to be aware that his manager is treating potential customers like they are dirt. read more

Dr Feil has been my dentist since the day he bought the business. I have followed this practice prior to his take over,. My information he maintains on me goes back 33 years. Dr Feil is the third to own the business. The other two were great but not compared to Dr Feil. I would never leave his practice even if I had to drive to Alabama to see him. read more

I found Dr. Feil on Yelp while looking to replace my way-OTP dentist. Luckily, he took my insurance, so I went ahead and made an appointment for my 6 month cleaning. I am religious about going to the dentist for cleanings after a 2 year break resulted in $3000 worth of cavities...but I digress. I was a little worried that the place would be too "Buckhead-y," or that they would try to get me to do all kinds of additional procedures beyond what my insurance covers. Good news, none of that.... although I did spring for the $15 fluoride treatment. Dr. Feil was super nice and my hygienist was great, too. 4 stars because I had a little bit of a wait and the fluoride treatment made me feel like I was going to vomit. :) All in all a really good dentist experience. I didn't have dental insurance for a few years so it had been awhile before I visited a dentist. The staff was great and really gentle. I had a cavity filled with the new fancy white stuff and not the old silver stuff, which apparently sets differently. They helped me right away when I needed to get it filed down a little bit more. Dr. Feill even called me over the Thanksgiving holiday to make sure it was ok. He and his staff are friendly, personable, and hospitable! After reading the wonderful reviews on Dr. Feil, I just had to go see for myself! As I just moved to the area, I was in the market for a new dentist. I called the office yesterday, fully expecting a 2-3 month long wait. Amazingly, they had a cancellation, and could fit me in this morning! I quickly scooped up the time slot. My first impression of his office is that it's almost more like a spa than a dental office. The rooms are nicely decorated, and super clean. It's nice that it's a single dentist practice, so that each patient can get their own dedicated care, without having to worry about being lost in the shuffle. All the employees were really nice and helpful, and the visit was a great success. No cavities! I would strongly recommend Dr. Feil and his practice to anyone in need of a great dentist! read more

Talk about a waste of my time and their inability to keep their appointment book straight. I'm not going back and so are many of the people that I have referred to them over the years. Dr. Feil is my third dentist in 4 years. I couldn't seem to find a dentist I trusted and liked in Atlanta, until I walked through Dr. Feil's doors. I found Dr. Feil on Yelp and made an appointment that day. His office staff was friendly. My appointment was at 11am, and I was seen promptly. Dr.Feil did my cleaning himself. He was very friendly and talkative, and all of his equipment was state of the art. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a new dentist in Atlanta. read more
