However, his assistants were friendly and warm and he was as well. I think he spent a thorough job evaluating my shoulder concerns and assessing the issues I brought forth to him. It was also interesting to have a diagnostic ultrasound on my shoulder to see what was really going on in there. I felt relieved to finally have some answers to what was happening with my wonky shoulders and he did a great job of answering all of my questions and concerns. I'm not sure if he does that with every visit, but for my visit it felt relevant. I also really like how he had an assistant documenting everything in the session - I felt like this made him more present and attentive. I've been to other medical appointments where the NP or MD has to document while assessing you and I feel like they end up only being partly attuned to what is going on with you. So this was a nice touch. I honestly don't want to be back (because that would mean that I would have another injury lol) but if that were to happen again, I most definitely would return to see Dr. Honsik. FYI, he also is a swimmer and he gave me some good tips on technique so that I don't exacerbate my shoulder issue. Overall, I am SO satisfied with this visit!

Fuck Sutter Management. They are sacks of shit that do not give a shit about patients or their outcomes, they are profit driven not patient driven. Anyone choosing to reply to this from Sutter, just go fuck off right now and don't bring that bullshit here.

I highly recommend them for PT and would definitely work with them again (though hopefully I'll be healthy enough that I never have to!). What stood out to me was the level of expertise, professionalism, and kindness I received from everyone I worked with, from the physical therapists and assistants to the front desk staff. Dr. Medina's calm demeanor was a balm for my jangled nerves when I first showed up--and she helped me through many months of recovery after foot surgery. I also had the pleasure of working with Dr. Diehl, who always patiently answered my many questions, cheered me on, and made me feel relaxed with his easy bedside manner and sense of humor. I even got to work with Dr. Gee a few times when he covered for folks who were out, which was fantastic because I got a fresh perspective on my issues. The PT assistants Claire, Kyle, and Amara were super helpful and friendly. And, of course, Nina was the delightful "face" of the business when I came through the door and opened my email, no matter how many schedule changes I needed to make. When we come in as patients, I know it can make us feel vulnerable, maybe even a tiny bit broken (I recall Dr. Diehl replying to that sentiment by saying I was just slightly and temporarily bent, not broken :) ). Despite that feeling, or even because of that, I encourage folks to show up open to the experience. For me, the more I was willing to connect with the good people at G-Sports, the more I got out of it. Thank you for helping me unbend all my bent parts, G-Sports! And good luck with your PT, everyone! :)

I feel encouraged and motivated when I work with him. The other staff members of the clinic are also unfailingly friendly and kind.

It was suggested that I try injections of hyaluronic acid (common name: human motor oil) and warned that if I had any relief, it would last maybe a week, six months at most. Well it lasted 18 months, when I simply went in for an "oil change" and went off for another 18 months of pain-free knee. This latest "oil change" was obfuscated by Brown and Toland's delay of a Physician's order of more than a month, allowing additional potential damage to said knee. This company is gathering quite a roar of discontent from patients. Enter Cal Sports Institute and poor Dr Eppley's deteriorating office staff. I was able to get three appointments in subsequent Fridays and received shot #1 of 3 on schedule. When I showed up on time for #2, I was told the appointment was cancelled (they claimed to have left a message. Our phones will not accept calls from unknown callers and hangs up on them) and #2 was pushed out a week. As I was already 5 weeks late thanks to Brown and Toland, I was upset. Not impolitely so, but irritated. Enter Dr. Roghair, unbidden. He had heard the conversation and offered to provide #2 then and there. He not only injected me but offered a tutorial on knee anatomy, pointing out the good and the bad areas of my knee. Astonished, I left the office injected (as expected) and informed well beyond any one of my many previous treatments. This office has repaired my rotator cuff, replaced both of my wife's shoulders and one of her knees, so we are hardly strangers Bravo to this extremely competent, human doctor who stepped up when the flummoxed staff stuttered and stammered In lieu of being helpful. His courteous and friendly staff actually answered the phone! and I managed to get an appointment the very next day. Amazing to me, he called in the evening hours of that first contact, before seeing me, after having seen x-rays and a brief history of the accident. He asked questions about my activity level, and explained what he'd assessed from having reviewed the films. Next morning, after taking more views specific to my injury so we could see how the fracture fragments had migrated into the joint space, I was eager to have him fix the damage not mentioned (or perhaps not seen) by the first flippant corporate MD. He even showed me a model of the plate that would hold everything back in place! Because of the time that had already passed since the accident, he and his staff created space for me to get into surgery that very same afternoon. Less than three weeks later, I have regained almost full range of motion and continue to be impressed by the thoroughly professional, kind and patient care provided by Dr. Cardon and his staff, who've guided me safely through all aspects of the healing process.

I cannot say enough good things about LaFoot in Berkeley…read more My brother manages a grocery store and is on his feet all day. Recently he started having significant foot pain. As a nurse who has dealt with bone spurs and plantar fasciitis myself, I immediately told him he needed to address it -- both by resting and by investing in proper shoes. I've been trying to convince him to upgrade his footwear for years! I found LaFoot while scrolling Yelp. The name caught my attention, and when I read that it's owned by a physical therapist and staffed with students/residents in orthopedics and foot care, I knew this wasn't just a regular shoe store -- this was going to be different. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. Parking was easy (even on a busy day), and we were greeted by a tall, slender young man with glasses who introduced himself as a kinesiologist (I'm so sorry I didn't catch his name!). He was professional, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. He had my brother remove his shoes and socks, observed his gait by having him walk up and down the hallway, and even demonstrated how my brother's current shoes were too flexible by twisting them. Then he brought out a Brooks shoe and showed us the difference in structure -- it barely twisted at all. He explained why that stability matters. They measured his feet the old-school way with a sizing device to ensure a precise fit. They also noticed that my brother's feet turn slightly inward when he walks, which likely contributed to his pain. What I really appreciated was how they used a skeletal foot model with bands to visually demonstrate what was happening. For visual learners, this was incredibly helpful and made everything make sense. When my brother tried on the recommended shoes, he immediately said, "Oh my God, these make such a huge difference." That alone told me we were in the right place. The exact color he wanted wasn't in stock, but they ordered it and had it shipped to his home within a few days -- seamless process. Yes, the shoes were $154. But when you consider the amount of time he spends standing and walking, and the importance of preventing long-term foot issues, that is absolutely worth it. Your health and comfort are not the place to cut corners. The professionalism, the education, the attention to detail, and the way they truly listened -- both to my brother and to me -- really stood out. This isn't just a shoe store; it's an experience rooted in understanding foot health. We left feeling confident, informed, and genuinely impressed. Highly recommend.

I have had a lot of broken bones and surgeries and hospital stays and orthopedic surgeons who have patched me up in the past to go on to do more stupid stuff. Luckily Dr. Zwahlen is here to help. Because of my awesome partner and I want to be around a little longer I have stopped doing stupid stuff like flying my experimental airplane, stopped rock climbing (and falling), stopped intense snow skiing/boarding (no moe flips), and stopped other activities from which I have some how miraculously survived (I may have more lives than a cat). Given that, I can still do stupid things in the gym. Recently trying to hang for a minute, yes all 60 seconds, I realized something was wrong and dropped at around the 45 second mark. I kept thinking it would get better and it didn't and was starting to think major jacked up rotator cuff and maybe surgery, again. Well after some imaging the good doctor determined "nothing was torn but very, very angry". So going forward, for awhile, no exercises engaging the shoulder except a few very detailed lifts. A lot of surgeons like to cut, that's what they do. So I appreciate it when the knife is not the first response and second when lots of drugs aren't the answer. Hhhmm, may rethink that last part. Already a week in with daily exercises prescribed by the doc my shoulder is much better and this is way better than rehabbing shoulder surgery. Two closing thoughts. If you are active you need an orthopedic surgeon on speed dial. Dr Zwahlen is the man. If you sit on the couch all day you need a dietician and a mortician. Also, before seeing the good doctor you might want to have a few esspressos to match his energy level.

For the first issue she told me my wrist and arm were atrophying due to mistreatment from another Dr. regarding my RSI. Yeah, that's right. Following Dr. Yu's directions to let them be natural w/o out any treatment they quickly and completely recovered. The 2nd time, many years later, I had damaged my thumb over a number of years due to the unresponsive SRAM left shifter on the bicycle. The thumb could become quite painful on grasping anything. On the first visit she suggested a brace which mitigated the issue. Several months later it flared up again. This time she offered the alternative of surgery but after discussing the pros and cons with her I decided against it. Got a new (different?) brace and again the problem mitigated. As a note for any cyclist: I then upgraded to electronic shifting and the issue, although chronic, has for practical purpose basically disappeared. No brace necessary.
