The turkey dinner was good, and I would've been happy to have it as a home-cooked meal. The service was nice but kind of awkward. They misunderstood our order twice and corrected it, so it's okay.

I got the Kentucky beef melt with jalapenos on the side with a side of clam chowder. Both the chowder and the beef melt were pretty good. The sweetness from the bourbon sauce really shone through and I was happy with the portions (not overly filling). Our server (Shane I think) came by regularly to top up drinks and checked in on us. I will be back next time I'm in town.

Merritt is a ghost town on Sunday…read more Being from Vancouver, I bounced out of the motel at a chipper and squirrel-like 10am and strolled down to the ten or so streets that make up downtown Merritt expecting to take my pick of brunch places. I tend to assume small towns are churchy because I watch a lot of movies and documentaries based from the USA, so I had visions of post-church families in crowded diners eating adorable meals and drinking tea. This is not so. There was nothing open. Except fast food, the Coldwater (I'll review that one later,) and Mandolin's which is near the grocery store. They had cornered the market, so I thought they didn't really need to try anymore. But holy hell, their bagel melt was awesome! They roast the turkey themselves, then add dill cream cheese, some onions, peppers, lots of cheese, and maybe other stuff, I lost track, but it is really good! Their coffee is good too. And they have soy milk. And Wifi! So I could just hang out there all day and work on stuff. Yay! If you find yourself in Merritt on a Sunday, totally go here.

The service - super friendly, though not exactly attentive. On a hot summer day, it was disappointing that we were not offered refills on drinks. 5 stars for food, took one away because of service (and the fact that we left the restaurant and went down the street to a cafe to purchase lemonade to quench our thirst).
