i used to go here before covid, and the dentist i had was very nice & understanding. and i recently…read morehad a broken tooth so i called to make an appointment, and when i called i asked if they still did laughign gas and how much it was out of pocket, c ause i need it for them to safely even clean my teeth cause high level anixety and on the specturm. they got me in a few months after i called and thats where the issues started. i get there and theyre confused why im asking to confirm if i pay now or later for the laughign gas and then im told i have a new dentist cause my old one retired and the new dentist was very condesending, she talked to me as if i was being inconvient for insisting i need laughing gas even for a cleaning. she told me 'we dont like to use laughing gas on adults'. her tone and over all attitude felt ablest, and i dont like using that word lightly. i explained its in my chart, which even she said she saw it in there, and it was because of high anixety, sensivity on the teeth and that im on the spectrum. the more she talked to me the worse i felt. i felt so disrepsected and not very welcome. so it was not a good experiance. she then insisted we 'try' to do the cleaning without it, and i gave in and three seconds in my tooth felt like what nails on a chalk board sounds like and we had to stop. then she basically tried to explain that i should look into one of these other dentist practices that do full sedation denisty to "not traumatize me" more, but honestly the way i was treated was more traumatizing. cause i've had issues with dentsits as a child, and when i first found bourne dental assosiates in my early 20s, i was relieved originally cause i was treated with respect and had no issues. so to go back there after 4-5 years and be treated like i was an inconvienance because i needed laughing gas, for my anixety & disablity. i can say i was relieved to find a different dentist company, so i don't have to return to this practice. i left the building feeling so anxious and humiliated that my hands were shaking.

I had no idea what to expect, but Dr. Garrity was patient and explained the process carefully including a 3 hour appointment to prepare my mouth for the bridge and to precisely design the bridge itself with great care taken that the color of the bridge would match the other teeth in my mouth. It was a long appointment but he kept me entertained with his 70s playlist and even sang a few songs. I had to return a few weeks later to install the bridge which took less than an hour and was only mildly uncomfortable. I appreciate that Dr. Garrity took extra steps to assure the bite was absolutely correct and reduce the sensitivity of the teeth holding the bridge in place. It took a couple of days to get used to but the end result is perfect. I can hardly tell these aren't my original teeth. Amazing work.

I unfortunately had a very negative and traumatizing experience at General Dentistry of Cape Cod…read more I discovered the practice when I had a small chip in an onlay during the time that many practices were closed due to lack of PPE and COVID-19 restrictions. I was thrilled to find a practice that was in good shape to open and could help me within a week of calling about my situation. Upon my arrival, I noticed that the practice was taking health and sanitation precautions very seriously, which is certainly a relief during this time. When examining my tooth, Dr. Uzpurvis expressed concern over what was tooth and what was onlay. The onlay was done using CEREC technology so the color was designed to match my natural tooth. When examining the X rays, I was told there were two white lines beneath the surface which must be a crack, so he drilled very far into the tooth and prepped it for a crown versus an onlay. I was not having any pain under the tooth and the chip was just a small chip on the side where food was getting stuck. When I showed the X ray to my provider who put in the onlay, she explained these were actually cement lines, not a crack, which explains why they only appeared below the surface. The prep was very painful. I usually have a high tolerance for pain, but this was unbearable. I went home swollen and was told to come back the following week for "ES." I asked what this was and Dr. U said "don't worry about it, we just move around the gums to make room for the crown." I woke up the following morning with blood on my pillowcase and in my mouth from the dental work. The temporary crown I was given was very uncomfortable. When it was ultimately removed the base of the crown had not been shaved down and was very rough on the skin. Shaving down this crown would have taken 2 minutes max and alleviated so much discomfort I was experiencing, but this was just one example of the patient not coming first at this practice. It was also too wide. I returned to the office the next week for the ES, which is actually electro surgery - a gingivectomy. I was not at all prepared for this invasive procedure. Essentially a tool is used to burn the gums around the tooth. It was very painful and leaves your gums raw. This procedure took place on May 18 - it is currently July 20 and my gums have still not fully recovered. After the ES was complete I was in a lot of pain and required more novicaine injections. I was then given an Advil and a Tylenol as I was not prepared with any pain medication, not understanding what type of procedure this would be. Finally we were done and the mold was taken for the crown. After looking at the mold I was informed that this procedure was not the right one and I was going to have to wait weeks to heal and then go back in for a crown lengthening surgery. I broke down. I was already traumatized from this surgery, and now I need another? I asked for an explanation. Dr. U said that when he got halfway around the tooth he thought it might not work but kept going. I asked why we didn't catch this beforehand and got a few frustrating responses. The first was "I was trying to save you some bucks" and the second was "I mucked up, this was the wrong procedure." This was all so shocking to hear. As a patient, I want to know the risks of a procedure before going into it so I can assess if putting myself through something very invasive to potentially save money that may or may not work would be worth it. I was not given the opportunity to understand any of the risks or really any of the decisions being made while I was in the chair. Because I was in pain and clearly upset from sitting through what turned out to be an unnecessary surgery, Dr. U liberally prescribed me a Tylenol with Codeine and Lorazepam - a drug I had never heard of or taken - to treat the anxiety of coming back. I was told Lorazepam would "feel like a glass of wine" and to take it on my way in. I was not about to trust taking a new drug after this treatment and threw the bottles away. I called my regular provider after this experience, and she offered to take a look at my case the following week now that her practice was up and running. I was shocked to see that much of the onlay that I believed was taken out was actually still intact, which means we probably took out a lot of good tooth in prepping for this crown. I had the crown done elsewhere. When I went to bill, my insurance said Gen Dentistry billed my insurance as if the crown was complete, which is unethical. Instead of admitting to insurance they offered to send me the check and I could turn this over to the new provider. When the check didn't arrive I was told it was sent to an old address. I asked to stop payment and send a new check and was given attitude, and that we'd have to "check with the doctor." I remained patient and polite and still was treated like I was asking for too much. Practice also refused to refund my out of pocket deposit.

I finally found him! An excellent dentist who does top…read morenotch work with a great chair side manner - reasonably priced - and a friendly and helpful staff... Right here in Orleans on the Cape! My saga began decades ago in the Seattle area. I needed lots of dental care due to some sporting accidents and I had a great dentist from Sweden, but he retired and moved before I could get the work completed in my mouth. Since then I worked with a super dentist in Bellevue Wa, but implants were new to him and I needed implants - 7 to be exact. When my wife and I moved to the Cape we discovered finding good doctors wasn't easy. And finding a good dentist was even more challenging. One DDS I interviewed with in Provincetown examined me in 2021 and proposed implant solutions at the tune of 100K +. Woah! We almost started but then he demanded proof of Covid shots before he'd work on me. "Papers please!" Really? No way! Fast forward... my wife sees an ad for Dr. Kenny in Orleans so I got the check up and cleaning. He then fitted and installed two crowns and did it in one day! I couldn't believe it. No pain! He has the equipment to do everything in house! Wow! No more waiting for the lab to mail you the crowns! Joy! And his equipment is state of the art! Today I had an extraction and four (4) implants done - one upper and three lower and it only took a couple of hours... the extraction was the toughest part. And it does come with some discomfort, but this is normal. I feel excellent and am so happy I'm on my way to a full smile! Thank you Dr. Kenny! You are the best! And Marissa is Awsome! Marissa will greet you at the front desk with a beautiful smile! Something we all need! A "How ya doin" checkup in two weeks then the crowns in August after the bones heal ... I will update!
