The RNLI Station near the harbour at Seahouses houses a little shop and also a viewing area where you can look at the Lifeboat from above. In this viewing area you can read all about the history of the Seahouses RNLI station and its crews and also peruse the logs of all its call outs both recent and historic. Seeing the lifeboat really brings it home that the people who man it are volunteers and put their lives at risk to save others. True heroes in my book! The shop raises funds for the RNLI and has a range of second hand books and also gifts. I nearly always end up buying something 'boatie' themed for my canal boat from here including Port and Starboard salt and pepper pots last time I visited! :-) Definitely worth a visit when you're in Seahouses, children love to see the big bright orange lifeboat and you can always pick yourself up something good to read from the shop whilst supporting an absolutely vital cause at the same time. read more
