It's the only computer shop in town so they have correspondingly high prices, but they're not excessive. For a lot of things, you're better off buying online. but if you want to be able to easily take somethign back to the shop if it's knackered, then you're fine going here. It's either that or the hour-long trip to Newcastle. A lot of it isn't their fault. Shops in small towns just can't get the wholesaler discounts that the big guys can. Play.com can sell Modern Warfare 2 for 25 quid, but these guys can't even buy it wholesale for that price. So you've got to give them a little leeway. The chaps who work there are knowledgeable (I'm so nerdy that I'm not welcome in a lot of computer shops, so that's pretty decent praise from me) and they're friendly. I've seen them help people who've come in and asked some of the most retarded questions and they've been patient and helpful nonetheless. Right in the marketplace, Alnwick Computerware is the obvious place for computery stuff. Macs are as well represented as PCs and there's a range of parts and peripherals. There's even a selection of games available. There's also the repair and upgrade side of the business which I have to rate pretty highly. The staff know what they're talking about and don't try to sell you unnecessary stuff and repairs are based on estimates after an initial inspection of the computer is done There's also the consultancy side to the business whereby they cater to the needs of businesses by supplying systems and maintenance. All in all, quite a good computer firm and they don't charge anywhere near what they could being in such a small town you'll find a lot of computer shops in small towns charge over the odds due to their exclusivity. read more
