Darrell told me he would fix it and would let me know in a few days after he came out, when I would be put on the schedule. He even admitted that the issue was due to his employees work. Weeks went by and heard nothing. Called Darrel and Junior and Janelle numerous times with still no response. We even offered to pay to fix it if we had to knowing it might not be covered under warranty. Looks like I'm stuck with a sinking patio.

Warranty worthless since he won't come back to fix anything. I hired Tom Roybal from Columbine Hardscapes to replace some sod with stones, raise a retaining wall, put in a French drain, and create a paved walkway. Tom provided the lowest price of all landscapers I spoke to. During the demolition phase of the project when he was removing old sod to lay pavers, Tom did not remove any sprinkler heads first. He destroyed several of them that he then promised to replace, but he never brought any new head back. When I pointed out that he was breaking my sprinkler heads, Tom texted that he won't continue the work until I have removed all the heads myself if I care about them so much. I went ahead and removed the sprinklers since Tom was half way through the job. Tom then ended up packing all my sprinkler heads and taking them away with him when the job was finished. It took him three months to bring them back despite multiple promises to get them back quickly. Tom also broke two fence pickets during grass removal, which he did replace. He also punctured my only 100 ft hose with some carelessly dropped equipment. He did replace the hose. I noticed that some retaining wall caps were not glued in place several months after the work was done. It took Tom several weeks to come out to glue them in place with a few cancellations and reschedules. When he finally came, he promised to come around 11am. He finally showed up at 7pm. A few days later some of the pavers on the walkway that he promised "will never come out" came off. I messaged Tom to come back to re-glue them. Tom said he will come on Tuesday and will also send me warranty paperwork and plans for the French drain he installed since he never left any paperwork when he finished the job. He never showed nor sent me anything. When I messaged him about it on Wednesday, he said he will come on Saturday. He never showed or contacted me to reschedule. When I messaged him on Saturday afternoon, Tom replied that he was working on another customer's fence and won't be coming. He promised to come on Monday. He never came. He has stopped responding to my text messages in the intervening week. I advise not hiring Tom Roybal and Columbine Hardscapes because of poor workmanship and utter unprofessionalism.

The final cost came in significantly higher than the original estimate, and the timeline stretched far beyond what we agreed on, with unpredictable crew attendance and days where no one showed up at all. Craftsmanship issues went beyond minor nitpicks. The handrail installed does not match the style specified in the contract (which called for matching the existing upstairs railing) and is the wrong color. A worker left broken glass scattered in the alley, which I had to clean up myself after it upset neighbors. An abandoned sump pump was sealed incorrectly, leaving standing water inside and no airtight seal -- a real concern given the radon mitigation system nearby, since gaps like this can allow radon to enter the living space. I ended up fixing the seal myself, at my own cost, staying up late into the night during the project to make sure it was done right and my family was safe, despite having early meetings the next day. Separately, an electrician I brought in after the project for unrelated work found wiring done so poorly it could have led to a fire down the line had he not caught and corrected it. On top of that, a simple fireplace repair took many separate visits to (still imperfectly) resolve. Whenever I raised these issues, Peter, the owner, would respond with some version of "I've been doing this for 20 years," as if experience alone excused the problems. Bad work is bad work regardless of how long someone has been doing it, and that attitude made it clear he wasn't interested in actually addressing the concerns. The final straw was the crew letting themselves into my upstairs living area unannounced during one of those visits. When I raised this, Peter told me he could come and go from my house whenever he wanted because I had him under contract -- which is not accurate, and I've since confirmed I would have been within my rights to treat it as unauthorized entry. Conversations with Peter throughout the project felt tense and unprofessional rather than collaborative. I'd strongly caution anyone considering this contractor to get everything in writing, verify crew conduct and schedule expectations upfront, have an independent inspector check the work, and be prepared to manage the project closely yourself.

Got roof pricing estimate (lower than all other estimates) from Jacob (director of Business Development) which included numerous items that were NEVER installed by his roof crew (drip-edge, flashing, Rain-cap, Ice & Water Shield). Jacob insisted he would be onsite and supervise the job - but he NEVER showed up! Roofers started job at 430pm and finished at 8pm. They were in a hurry obviously - due to loss of daylight! And it shows in the poor quality job and lack of materials used. I advised Jacob of the shoddy workmanship and items not installed - and his response was "we installed everything! Why would you say we didn't?" He wasn't even there during the job - yet he claims job was done right - BEFORE he even bothered to come look at the roof! What kind of "Business Development" does he think that is? One of the goons (Bolton) told me he was an inspector, when I stated I need the roof inspected so to address my concerns. I asked him, "why didn't you inspect the roof after the job?" Bolton replies, "The crew said they did the job well"! Ha, ha, ha! That is Bolton's idea of an inspection - ask the crew if they did their job! What a joke! Avoid these clowns if you want roof done right! NOT worth the hassle! Poor workmanship! Quoted & try to charge you - for items never installed! Colorado Roofscapes wasted my time, installed an inferior roof that I will worry about for years!

The sign of a high-quality business is how they take care of their customers when there is a problem. Capital continues to say that their defectively installed roof as examined and found by an independent engineering company is ok. I have taken 80 photos of the poor installation above my condo. One does need to be a roofer to see the improperly installed flashing, DaVinci roof tiles, snowguards, and snow fences that. Also, water is leaking thru the soffit instead of draining into the gutters. Snowguards have fallen off the roof as Capital did not use the 3 bolts to hold them in place and short cut the job and used one bolt which is not is required for proper installation or building code. The snow melt system that they installed does not work above my condo and we get huge icicles. One of the 4 story downspouts was not properly installed and was attached to the building and has pulled away for 3 stories. My Velux opening skylights never worked right. Capital took a remote control to reprogram it and never returned the remote control. YOU WOUDL HAVE BETTER LUCK INSTALLING A NEW ROOF BY YOURSELF VS. USING CAPITAL!!!

I then asked him if he could recommend someone else to fix it but again no answer. I had Virgil from Morgan Construction to give me a quote (I always get at least 5 quotes from various vendors). He was the only one who gave me a quote the next day. In the course of repairing the railing, we found that the beams were not securely attached to the post and the deck was not plumbed correctly when built. Virgil had to secure the post to the beams and cut off portions of the railing to get it to plumb correctly. I am very disappointed in Jake.

Jake and his guys are great!…read more I had a deck framed then I finished the top and skirt boards to save on costs. They dug the footings and framed it. Fabulous job. The only issue was that some of the boards were not perfectly straight (Douglas Lumber) so the joists didn't come up to meet the surface boards I installed. This issue would have been discovered if they had done the entire deck. I don't blame them: I am fairly handy and sharing the work saved me a few thousand dollars. I will be having Jake and his crew come back to frame the lower-level deck and a pergola over the new one. Great value, good job; he keeps his promises, is ALWAYS right on time, and communicates beautifully...a rarity with contractors, apparently.
