The quality of their work and attention to detail was clear each day, from arriving on time to their professionalism, and how fast they were able to do so much I was honestly impressed. I also appreciated how they diligently cleaned up the area every day, no dirt on my neighbor's sidewalk or driveway from my project. RB not only came in overall under budget from 4 bids I received, but also did the work twice as fast as the "big" competitor as well, in total taking 5 days to complete. My neighbors keep giving me compliments as I pass them on the street now, saying how great our yard looks. Will have zero hesitation to engage RB for my future projects.

Our…read moreold concrete slabs were cracked, and had shifted, altering the drainage of water to flow towards our house. After interviewing many landscape pavers, Ideal Engineering stood out for being prompt to all the meetings, willing to visit multiple times to double-check measurements before bidding and were knowledgeable on the current state of available inventory and which showrooms to visit to preview them. Prices were very reasonable and transparent. There were no unplanned mark-ups and all change orders were reviewed and had to be approved by me in advance, so I could budget accordingly. I think this is an advantage of choosing a local paver. The work was efficient and professional - different specialized crews for demolition, irrigation, paving, cleanup were used with their own knowledgeable foremen. Each foremen acted as an available point of contact and communication was easy and friendly. Any texts or calls were usually returned within minutes. The teams were proactive in highlighting any complications or issues that might require design approval to make sure the work they did matched what I had in mind. For example, Pedro, the paver lead felt it was better to create a smooth curve at a corner instead of a straight 90 degree corner, and he was right! The boundaries flowed smoother and nicer with the lawn. The paving work was top-notch. We had decided to install premium pavers from Belgard, and it was important the work was done properly for such an investment. This included grading at the proper slopes for proper drainage, adding weed-resistant fabric, multiple levels of graded stone for proper leveling and polymeric sand for good sealing between pavers. The team helped build custom steps that looked very nice to create easy step-downs and paver edging was done with great style and aesthetics. For a potentially complicated project, I really felt confidence in the team and the process. David also helped offer advise in helping me move and reset our external heat pump units so that they could be reinstalled on top of the pavers. They were able to build conduits to facilitate running irrigation and electricity underneath the pavers for adding drip irrigation of containers and future lighting in our garden. Cleanup was thorough, with parts of our yard reseeded and topped with new topsoil. There was no construction debris left on our lawn or streetside. Everything was swept up. Fence gates that were temporarily removed were re-installed to appear as if nothing ever happened. I would definitely use Ideal Engineering (Ideal Landscape & Concrete) again for future projects.

David was patient with us and came back a few times to adjust quotes for us. His team worked hard every day and kept the worksite clean and communication with David was excellent; he was quick to return calls or respond to texts and emails. Our project consisted of removing and building a sidewalk along the side of our house and it was tricky given that our house sits on a sloped property; they made sure that the sidewalk sloped away from the house so that water does not pool towards the house. The backyard was cleared of a small tree and shrubs and pavers were installed, sod was planted and a new sprinkler system was installed. David came back to make sure that the sod as meshing properly. The backyard is also sloped and it was leveled so that the slope is now not as severe as what we had prior to the start of landscape project. We are extremely happy with the result and highly recommend this team.

I interviewed four landscapers and Noah provided the most credible and down-to-earth assessment of my project. He promised that a team would be on site every day, and my project would never get paused/put on the back burner until it was done, and that is what happened. Every foreman I worked with (Jose, Ernesto, Hector) was great, and fun; I felt well taken care of. The crews were very courteous and left the job site clean each day. There were several change orders along the way when we encountered an issue, or a nice opportunity to improve something. I felt like I got good advice, a few options on what to do, and the communication was very good. The final outcome is fantastic. Everyone who visits the yard is delighted. Now I just need to maintain it; Noah offers ongoing maintenance contracts (which are separate crews from the installers) if desired. The owner showed up with quick diagnosis to my sprinkler problem and showed knowledge about how my garden could be maintained. After evaluating several vendors I decided to proceed with Bay Area R Landscape on 8/15 for them to start servicing my garden on 9/4. The company stated that they're fully licensed, insured and are maintaining 60+ house in the region. I texted on 8/31 to confirm if they'll show on 9/4. No response. Texted again on 9/3, but still no response. Gave them two calls on 9/4 and finally got a response back that the team has backed up and wasn't able to make it so they'll show first thing on 9/11. On 9/11, the team did not show again without any communication. Thus, I sent a text on 9/12 to terminate our agreement for the company to service my garden. As I haven't had the opportunity to work with them so I can't comment on the quality of the work, but if lack of communication starts on day 1 for a new customer, I'm not sure how responsive the team would be if future issues arise. The company did reach out explain the no show, but then again, lack of communication was reason I let go my former gardener to begin with. Recommend the company to handle communication better in the future.

This made removing and unloading the old concrete challenging. The same challenge existed when delivering the base rock, cement sand, pavers, etc. Soil prep was by the book, excavating a full 12" deep, a layer of base rock, then compacted, Geo-tex fabric, a layer of cement sand (not common sand), compacted, then screeded and leveled with a gentle slope away from my house and away from the front of the garage door. Polymeric sand was brushed in-between the pavers, swept, and watered. I waited 72 hours before driving on them to allow them to fully set and cure. The other thing Jesus did was to put rebar around the perimeter of the pavers and cementing them in place to prevent the pavers spreading over time. Pavers laid and specially cut to work around my gate post. I particularly like the way Jesus's crew made angled corner cuts. Jesus was flexible when I had to change the plan layout and he even offered to pick up landscaping boulders I picked out at no additional cost. Because of the change of plans I asked Jesus if he would pick up decomposed granite (DG) for the front yard, which he did. The front landscaping is still in progress at this writing. Jesus had all the proper and commercial-grade equipment, Bobcats, two types of compactors, hand tools, and tile/cement cutting saws. Jesus's crewed worked throughout the day, only taking a lunch break. This was during some days we had in the 90s! I called three landscaping companies for bids. One company that has the name of a suite of cards, was more than double Jesus's quote. The second company has the name Garden in it. That representative had asked me to go down to the hardscape company he works with and check out the pavers. He never gave me a quote. When I called him and asked him for a quote he told me he was on vacation and would call when he returned. He never called me with a quote. I found Jesus to be honest, direct, and true to his word and contract. Jesus was a pleasure to work with and his crew did an excellent job.
